Scottish Folk Tunes: 69 Traditional Pieces for Cello

This is an excellent book because it is not watered down. It is appropriately challenging, to maintain authenticity. It also includes a CD, which I just happen to enjoy on its own. It's a nice companion to the written music. I also like that it includes detailed notes about the history of the music as well as technique. It's probably the best cello fiddle book out there. I love it.

This is a great book. The compositions are really beautiful. I like the darker, slower stuff, and this is one of the few of these kinds of compilations that has several songs like that. There's also a lot of variety, so anyone can find at least a few tunes they'd like to play. I'd not recommend it for super-beginners, though. The music is a little complex and there's a lot of switching between clefs which could be confusing to someone just learning to read music. Otherwise, definitely worth every penny, and the CD it comes with is really nice to listen to.

My 13 yo son and I are both enjoying exploring some new songs. Scottish music sounds great when it's played by a cellist!

This was a GREAT buy! I struggle to find celtic and Scottish music written for the cello, and this book is a goldmine of great pieces!! I am very happy with this music!!

love the music in this book. The CD that comes with the book is great. It makes me want to play all of the music!

I am a professional cellist and I bought this book for options to perform at the viewing of my grandmother who was an immigrant from Scotland. I am very impressed with the elegance and the simplicity of these songs. They sound beautiful unaccompanied, and hold melodic structure on their own. The recording included is of a live cellist which is beautiful to listen to all on its own. I’m so glad I bought this!
