What Does God Want?

Even if you have been a Christian for a day or for years, you need to read this book. It simplifies the Bible in easy to read explanations. This book also reminds you of why and how you need Jesus. Dr Heiser was a wonderful scholar of the written word of God. Most theologians write so far over the average person’s vocabulary that you cannot understand what they are saying. But Michael Heiser’s style of writing inspires the reader to look deep into the meaning of scripture and see Jesus on ever page.

Michael Heiser has a masterful work here. He pleads for the simple Gospel showing how we need not complicate it.

I have come across many a book describing and defining exactly what Christianity is all about but I have never found one that is not only thorough but that is an easy read and entirely engrossing! It is the perfect book to bless a nonbeliever with or like myself a 40 year lover of God. My son introduced me to Michael Heiser’s other books as well - Unseen Realm and Supernatural and I found myself enjoying the Old Testament in a profound and new context . Not surprisingly is that another friend in my prayer group was enthralled with Supernatural as well. We were unaware that we were enjoying his book Unseen Realm at the same time . Consequently,we added the bible study on his book Supernatural to our prayer group time with friends joining us. All I can say is Heiser’s books and podcasts will transform the way you view God and spiritual warfare and make you a more complete and fearless worshipper of Jesus .

I do not have the words to say what reading this book has clarified for me about what the Bible really says about how God feels about us and about what Jesus really did. It has made me open my heart and really receive the love of our Savior , Jesus and of our Father. Thank you Michael Heiser and thank you God for putting this book in my hands to help me on my journey to be with my God and Savior Jesus.

Recommend it to every one. One of the creation to Christ study's with many marked steps to follow a normal process.

If you are a new Christian then do read this book. If your a Christian who is burnt out, definitely read this book to reorient yourself but all Christians will do well to buy this book. It’s simple, readable, and easy to understand. You will for sure know what God wants.

I like Heiser, and I think this little book is one of his best. Great answer to a question everyone would be asking....and know how to answer. Would be good to gift to newer Christians as well.

Dr. Heisenberg does an excellent job of clearly explaining life in Christ and the basic setting of that life.The book also includes a clear and concise definition of discipleship, “believing loyalty”, which cuts through the catechisms and programs to give a clear goal to aim at.In addition, he lays out the original plan and purpose of God, the rebellions of man and spiritual beings (God’s human and supernatural families), and the basic building blocks of faith and practice in following Jesus.This would make a great primer for new believers, as well as those wishing to simplify their approach to God after a lifetime of dogma.

I noted that one review of this book expresses the reader’s sadness of not having been able to read it before embarking upon some of Dr. Heisler’s more profound writings. I have found this foundational book a wonderful breath of fresh air, clearing my own mind and reminding me that the key to Bible study requires a fundamental paradigm shift ... “It is not I” (Galatians 2:20). I have been trying to accumulate and process ‘new’ detail using my own mind . . . I am so pleased that I did not dismiss this book as unnecessary.

Heiser is a brilliant author with a brilliant mind. He writes some deep stuff but he also writes books for the layman. This is one of them. It is incredibly easy to follow and will benefit every Christian (and non-Christian). If I was being picky, the only thing I would say is that I'd like him to explain Galatians 5:18-24 (page 88) a little more. Also, I believe Romans chapter 7 talks about Paul's life before he came to know the Lord. Other than that, I can highly recommend this book.

The Author brings a much needed clarity to the Fathers purpose in creating Mankind. Any reader who digests this book with the assistance of the Holy Spirit will be less likely to be led astray by false Teachers.Essential for new and confused believers.John Boyd

Simple but not simplistic. Thorough but not boring. Michael Heiser introduces us to what the gospel is, why we need it and how it will impact our lives by telling the story of our world. I have been a Christian for some time but wish I had been given this when I first began to follow Jesus.

Brilliant book. Have really learned a lot from the author and have now bought two more of his books. Highly recommended as I have learned things that I hadn't heard about before. I got to know about Dr Heiser upon watching a YouTube video which had featured him, otherwise wouldn't have known about his work.
