Great, inexpensive RAID card for port multiplying cases
Works great so far. I'm very pleased for ~$100.I'm using it with an older Sans Digital 8 bay Port-multiplying case and a 2009 Mac Pro.The 8-bay array had no RAID features, I bought this card to add some fault tolerance to our backup.Added the card to my 2009 Mac Pro, turned on drive and started up the Mac. The old JBOD volume showed up correctly.I selected all the drives and created a RAID 5 array. It instantly created the volume, no waiting on RAID initialization.I'm getting well over 200MB/sec on non-RAID, consumer 2TB drives.Notes:I do not use this drive as an everyday storage medium - it is a backup. So far it has written over 10TB of data without fail.I *have not* tested the recovery ability of this card - observed performance and features seem to suggest this should not be an issue. If you power your drive up *after* startup, the volume does not seem to mount until you refresh from the browser setup interface.

World's Okayest 4-port eSATA Adapter
Works OK. Takes a ridiculously long time to post at boot-up, even with no drives attached. If I paid around half the listed price I'd be happy with my purchase.

Saved my Sans Digital 8 Bay Tower from Obsolescence
I have a couple of old Sans Digital 8 Bay enclosures. The e-sata PCI cards that came with the enclosures are not compatible with Windows 10 1809 or 1903.Windows 10 could not update since the computer would crash on boot due to the e-sata PCI-E card drivers being incompatible with the Windows update so I could never get my computer to boot.Thankfully, I found this e-sata PCI-E card which is compatible with Windows 10 1903. I just installed the card and connected my Sans Digital 8 bay enclosures and everything worked great.I am using the Sans Digital enclosures as JBOD, not RAID.

Little sketchy to install (afraid was going to break) but works fine to date - knock on wood

Not linux compatible (at least not documented,) and very little support available for Linux
Does *not* work with Linux (Ubuntu 16.04). No driver support available and very little online to describe how to get it working. Tried changing AHCI settings and tried to get various drivers installed for similar devices and all to no avail. If you are looking to use this in a Linux system, it won't work.If you did get it working on Linux 16.04, I'd like to know so I can write up a tutorial on getting it working as this does seem to be a decent port replicator (I have no intention of using the fakeRAID, and only want to use it to access external enclosures.)

Does work, formerly: Doesn't work with Mac OSX 10.11.6
MacPro 2009. Worked fine on 10.11.5, but when I updated El Capitan, drives disappeared. Read the compatibility carefully when buying.Update: ok, it works now, I had installed another pci card (video capture) at the same time, but hadn't installed ist's drivers. Once I installed those drivers, it worked and my Mediasonic 4-drive enclosure works fine.FWIW, I was replacing the same card which died after 3 years.

Freezes on boot up
Apparently incompatible with my SUPERMICRO MBD-X11SPA motherboard. It just stops at the "Scan Devices. Please wait..." screen. I waited for hours as I heard it takes a long time to boot with this card. Ctrl-H does nothing. Never got it to work, I will return.

DO NOT BUY THIS GARBAGE!!
DO NOT BUY THIS GARBAGE!!!!This card is absolutely worthless. I bought this card to run two OWC raid enclosures on my mac pro. If your computer goes to sleep this card will eject all the drives connected to it. It doesn't matter if you are processing images, rendering footage or whatever, if your machine sleeps for even a minute the drives will be ejected, so much for boosting for productivity. When I called OWC customer support after receiving this garbage from them, they only wanted to confirm that the software (also garbage) needed to run this card was installed and running and then basically said good luck with that. So then, I wrote a review on their site to warn others of the impending doom about to be unleashed on them and of course it was never published on their site. This is clearly indicative of a company that puts profits before quality of any kind. Do a little research on this and you will see a ton of complaints about this card.
