Ready to go when you need it!
This radio, flashlight, emergency, weather channel ready, and solar powered is crazy good. I have used for a couple of emergencies during powerful storms. We lost power in the night, and we all felt safer with the bright light, and weather channel available on solar power. The radio gets good reception. The unit lasted longer than the storm, two hours on solar power. The kids know I keep the unit in the window sill for charging and they can use it without me, even the two year old. So worth the money. Have been through three Hurricanes and knowing what is going on through a radio is a must. This should be a staple for every person's survival kit.

4000mAh Battery
The main reason I bought this model was the 4000mAh Battery. Other than that, the less expensive models have basically the same capabilities. I also noticed that even some of the more expensive models have a lower mAh battery. Having longer battery life is arguably the most important spec for an emergency (or convenience). Also better to provide enough charge on your cell phone for an emergency call. Note if the battery mAh is not up front in an emergency radios product description, it is probably 1000 or less. I ran it through its paces and everything seems to work fine. The AC charger adaptor cord is about 2.5 feet and the USB cord provided is short. Neither of which is an issue for its function. Its dimensions are approximately 2.5 by 7.5 in, so it might be smaller than you expect. To me, that's a good thing. Can't say I'm crazy about the color choices. Than again, orange kind of displays its use as emergency equipment. I keep it in my basement bedroom, which also serves as a tornado shelter, with the rest of my emergency supplies.

Might not be ideal for hi rise condo
I love its appearance and small size. FM reception is good. Volume range outstanding. I was confused about usb charging as the small red charge light does not react while radio is being charged this way; however, it did light up when cranking and using solar screen. Unfortunately, Weather channel was extremely choppy and only one of our five local AM stations can be picked up and only in the evening. Read in other reviews, post purchase, that radio must be left in standby (assume that means turned on and tuned to weather station ...not sure if volume can be left on low nor how loud alert would be. If it triggers the same alarm as SOS button I'd be sure to hear it as would the neighbors. Cranking is much easier than a crank flashlight I had at on time. Not sure at this point whether or not I'll keep it.

cheap;
was excited to get this radio due to all the features and especially due to the battery size but the radio was so cheaply made that right out of the box the antenna was broken within side the unit in that it was dangling half out of the unit and flopping all around very loose. The connection for the rechargable battery was broken as well. it was loose and half pushed inside the unit. returned it and got the midland ER310. so far very happy with its quality.

Not worth $40 for sure
UPDATED REVIEWRunning Snail lost another star after I lost the damned thing and bought an Esky as a replacement. Nearly half the size and half the price, the Esky is sturdier, easier to carry/stow, and the one speaker is loud without the earpiercing treble. It's got a digital display that I like and flashlight is plenty bright. Don't spend your money on Running Snail.------------The number one complaint I saw while researching this thing was it's flimsy make. The body itself is small and sturdy enough, but the second time I moved the antenna, it came loose and I've lost half of my Weather Band quality. Kinda important for an emergency radio... And it's speakers are ear-piercing. But when you're huddled in the dark avoiding the storm, I doubt you'll be worried about the bumpin-bass quality. The solar panel only HELPS. I imagine it would take a day or 2 to charge in bright sun from full discharge. And what dummy puts the SOS button right next to the light button? Everytime I go to turn on the light I scare myself with a blaring siren! So atleast we know the SOS siren is good and loud.But again, this is not to be your everyday radio. It does what it says, but is certainly not worth the asking price. I only splashed the few extra dollars because it has an aux-in audio jack. But you're better off just using your phone's own speakers if your trying to listen for entertainment. You can find a cheaper unit that does the same

Works very well.
We had always meant to purchase a crank radio for Spring storms, and hurricanes.Bought this little but mighty radio this summer, and we really love it. Battery operatedfor those times when the sun isn't out to charge it. Hand crank for when all else fails.Everything is covered. Size is small, but the speaker is loud and clear. Perfect for storing awaywhen not in use. All around a very good purchase.
