I think that is why those hexgon bowls work better. Also
It basically swims in a straight line. If you have a round bowl, it will just hug the bowl going in circles. It claims it can change direction, but that's not true. If it runs into something that gives it a 50/50 chance of going another direction, then sure. I think that is why those hexgon bowls work better. Also, from videos, if you have multiple fish and they run into each other, they may change direction. However they may also stick to eachother's magnets. The speed of the tail will vary. When it speeds up the fish will try to dive. However, you have to ensure there are no air bubbles keeping the fish too buoyant. I was able to get it to dive a couple times but after that it would just barely go down. On one occasion it froze up in the on position and wouldn't turn off. I had to pull the battery and reinsert it to reset it.Overall, it is a decent toy. If you have a hexagon bowl and more than one fish it may be more fun. I bought a fish and a nanobug for my 3.5yr old niece. The fish held her interest for maybe 5min. The one bug without any maze held her interest for over an hour.

The hex bug aquabot fish my grandson really loved a lot
He loved bathing with it and watching it swim from side to side also loved the colors and the quality was very durable and a great gift for him to enjoy for a long time.

Glad I Took a Chance of These
No spare batteries as advertised... but this review is for the Aquabot itself. I Have a couple of kittens we raised from when they were 5 days old and their feral mother was hit by a car. They never learned to drink right... always preferring a dripping faucet to a bowl of water. Then I got this ginormous stainless steel water bowl, filled it with some ice cubes, and they would try to paw the ice out of the bowl and lick their wet paws on hot days. So I bought this as another way to encourage this behavior on and WOW. They get right into the bowl with both front feet and start fishing. The variable movements and bit of weight makes it challenging for them to lift it out of the bowl and when they do, if flaps dramatically for a bit, then 'dies.' A little praise... plop it back in the bowl... rinse; repeat. I'm glad I took a chance on these. The batteries don't last that long, but replacements are inexpensive.

Great Bath Fun. Supurb seller
Our first fish didn't work, but seller was very quick to send out a replacement and paid for the return shipping. We love this fish because it activates in the water and when you pull it out, it turns off. no wasted batteries. We especially love that there are no outside moving parts to get hair tangled in. The robo fish has a little exterior fan and loves to eat hair. This are bright, colorful, durable and lots of fun in the bath. Quick shipping and resolution from seller is a big bonus!! A+++

Stopped working after one day
The button to turn on/off is tiny and very fragile , worked only 20 min total. Somehow water got inside the fish

My 70 year old mother loves it
My 70 year old mother could not look after her fish any more so I started buying her these and she loves them. This one has to go in the tank on its own because the other fish get stuck on its fins. My mother loves the tap to wake up feature.

Overpriced? Oh yeah
Well over priced for sure, under any other circumstance I wouldn't even think about buying something like this without checking elsewhere like in a local store but, this is another one of what I call covid19 purchase in which it makes more sense and convenience than going out looking for a toy like this. Nice when it works though. Battery doesn't last long but it's a nice toy.

I should have read the reviews..
I ordered 2 of these and found out on Christmas morning that they were non-functioning. I suppose the description did not specify whether the batteries were working or not so maybe the onus is on me? The item did not include 2 spare batteries as stated in the description however. I will update my review when I receive my replacement products...
