This book is a visual treat inside. It has some beautifully designed cakes to try out and I just love looking at the pictures and being inspired. The photographs are beautiful and high quality. It has some great general instructions at the beginning of the book for things like tools / equipment you'll need and recipes for butter-cream etc.The one improvement I would suggest is to improve the 'look' of the instructions, ie more step-by-step pictures and a better look to the numbering system (the numbering I didn't like the look of visually, but that was just my personal taste).I also think that some of the detail on the instructions has been sacrificed in order to include 'big' glossy pictures of the finished product (several pictures from different angles of the finished product). It'd be better to have one of the finished product looking fab and more smaller pictures to support the instructions on how to complete the cakes etThis book is also one of the few I've seen that gives details on how to complete mini-cakes.

I buy a lot of cake books off the reviews - because lets face it - we are the real judges not the book critics. I have about 20+ cake decorating books and this has to be one of the best ever. Not only does it give your great recipes (more than boring maderia) but portion sizing too! So many cake fall from grace because of their lack of pictures and instruction - this has it in spades. Well set out, well written and the photos are just what you need and none of what you don't.The whole idea of this book is to inspire. It's brilliant and certainly does inspire you to come up with something unique for your own cake decorating future.

I love this book, it is one of my favorites! I also bought the author's other book "Sweet and Simple Party Cakes" which I found beautiful as well. The pictures are great and the instructions are very helpful.I haven't tried the recipes yet, but I didn't buy it for that purpose. I bought this book for the projects and inspiration ideas, and it certainly met or exceeded my expectations. I love the cakes, they are simple but elegant. I have already made a cake inspired by the cover and I plan on using more ideas from this book.I will keep looking for future books from this author.

I also own many cake books and this one is my new favorite! Very up to date designs and and beautiful pictures with well written instructions. This book is at the top of my pile of cake books. Although I haven't owned it very long I have referred to it many many times already. Has a very modern feel to it where the other books by many of the "pros" out there are so dated in their designs. I also loved the quality of the paper used in making this book, I know that sounds like a funny thing but it is a very heavy good quality paper! =)

I own many cake books as well, but this has got to be my favorite one yet. Each cake comes with a detailed instructions on how to make it, and also has accompanying pictures. The photographs are very pretty and the designs are gorgeous. I also like how the tools you need to make the cakes are usually what every baker has at home. Also has a guide that shows you the amount of batter you need for specific size pans... love that part! Very helpful. I e-mailed the author to thank her for writing such an amazing book and she replied! I am planning to get her other book and all her future books. She is an inspiration.

This is an OK book for beginners and has some good ideas. I would not recommend buying the suggested set, coupled with the other two books. The only thing that is different are the cake images. It's the same exact recipes and why pay that much money for something you can just google?! I was really wanting cake recipes, not the same recipes three times over and different designs... sort of a waste.

I gave this book 5 stars for many reasons such as great packaging, quickly shipped, the book was in great condition and the book it self had beautiful pictures and step by step instructions to creating beautiful art work. Amazing recipes with great directions and the results are always beautiful. I loved the book!

This book was exactly what I was looking for. Easy to read and detailed. I took a chance in ordering it as I could not review too much of its contents, however, I'm glad I got it. I will be using it for a long time.

Fabulous book. Beautiful cakes - each large cake accompanied by matching mini cakes, cupcakes or cookies, with recipes for all. The cake recipes are in chart form so you know the correct quantities for any size cake from 5" to 12" - essential when baking tiered cakes. The step by step instructions are clear and easy to follow so even inexperienced cake makers should be able to reproduce most of the designs. The cakes are so pretty I couldn't wait to get started.

Wow! I knew from the previews on line that this was going to be a good book! It is!The cakes are beautiful, but when you break them down they are fairly simple to make... The end product is very impressive.The recipes are fabulous! I use the basic recipes for many of my cakes and receive SO many compliments.This book is a joy to work with and I would recommend it to anybody, novice or pro...

Fabulous book. I used it to make my own wedding cake. The 3 tier victoria sponge cake was my inspiration. Great recipes, clear instructions and lovely photos of the finished cakes. I am a total amateur and my cake looked really professional on my wedding day. It also tasted delicious. I use this recipe all the time now and it is foolproof for making the o the perfect victoria sponge cake. Full of great ideas for al sorts of cakes. Worth every penny.

As a seasoned cake decorator I like to keep my creations looking up-to-the-minute, and this book is a useful addition to my library. The cake recipes look scrumptious, and are usefully given in scaled amounts so you can make any size cake you need. For this sort of book the 'look inside' feature is extremely useful and is probably what sold it to me. Try for yourself.
