Great feeder!
After reviewing every feeder design imaginable, this one wins my vote. The manufacturer (aptly named) has created a product with the best of features. The overall design is so simple ( 3 pieces) yet very effective and if you read and heed the enclosed instructions, you can't go wrong. Some hummingbirds hover while feeding but I do have some that like to sit on the outer rings so I prefer this plastic base over heat-attracting metal. The bottle is glass and the attached hanger is very sturdy. I do not miss the ubiquitous yellow flowers that seem to attract mold (it doesn't appear that the hummingbirds care one way or another) so that's another plus. Very easy to take apart, clean, and reassemble. Typically when I hang it up, I gently jostle the feeder to make sure the liquid fills the base. It doesn't take long and you'll see rising bubbles in the bottle neck getting smaller as the air in the base is displaced with the nectar. So far I have not had any trouble with bees or wasps trying to purloin the goods. And no ants either ~ perhaps because I have it on a free-standing garden hook. When I first swapped out my old feeder in favor of this one, several days went by with not a hummer in sight. I thought maybe they didn't like the change, missed those pesky yellow flowers, or weren't attracted to it for some other reason. Discouraging!! Then one morning I walked into what I can only describe as a bombing mission ~ two very intent hummingbirds (working like a tag team) alternated dining with taking turns trying to scare me away with aerial acrobatics. I respectfully withdrew from their air space and retreated to make more nectar.

Best Hummingbird Feeder
This is the best hummingbird feeder that we have had so far and we have had quite a few. The hummers love it. The railing around is easy for them to sit on. They feed from it with ease. What we like:No leakageBee proof. We have a lemon tree under the feeder. While the bees are buzzing the blossoms, they don't want to feed from the feeder (probably because it doesn't leak to attract them)We like the 8oz capacity. Only 8 ounces so that we have to clean and refill in about a week and a half. (We have hummers that try to keep the feeder to themselves, so only one drinks at a time. We found that with larger feeders, we forget to clean out every two weeks seeing all the nectar still left inside)Very easy to clean. Taking apart is simple and you can get to every to clean.Able to handle 30mph winds! We had winds with gusts up to 35mph just a few days ago. Even though my husband has the feeder secured well, it could still rock with the wind. I watched it for two days with the high winds that we had and while the branches of the small tree below it were pushed around in the wind, I found the feeder swayed a little, but never swung around to where any liquid leaked out. Very happy that this feeder can take the high winds. This feeder will still let orioles feed from it. I guess the holes are big enough for them. We have two that pass through seasonally - the black hooded oriole and Scott's oriole. They have fed out of the feeder, but we not able to make the holes larger for their beaks. At first we thought that not having the fake plastic flowers would keep the hummers away, but it hasn't. The hummers still go to the feeder and take long sips.My wife and I are very happy with this feeder - and so are our hummers.

Without a doubt the best humming bird feeder out there
Without a doubt the best humming bird feeder out there. I like the glass container for the nectar, very easy to keep clean. The plastic parts of the feeder are sturdy and easy to clean as well. Most of all, the hummingbirds love it, they get to perch and take long drinks! I put it side by side with our previous feeder that had 4 plastic "flower blossums for the nectar retrieval, and the hummingbirds soon stopped going to the old one and fed only from the Best feeder. I really like the 8 oz size as I replace the nectar every 3-4 days, just to keep it fresh and avoid any kind of problems, esp. in summer. We have Anna's hummingbirds at our feeder here Oregon that are pretty small, they winter over as well. Quite protective of their feeder, as I have seen a few larger Rufous hummingbirds come in, but the Anna's chase them off pretty quick. Overall, it is a great well designed feeder. Only thing I notice is that as the nectar level drops in the plastic reservoir, apparently there isn't enough of an "air gap", unless the nectar is down to the bottom, for the nectar to refill the reservoir constantly. I usually once a day or so, go out and grap the plastic perch with my fingers and gently shake it back and forth. You will see the air bubbles come up in the bottle and the reservoir will fill up to the top again. I just think that way the hummingbird doesn't have to stick his beak all the way down to the bottow of the reservoir when it gets low and hasn't refilled on it's own. If the bird was startled suddenly, it could possible hurt it's beak if it didn't pull it straight out. Nectar mixture ratio: 1 cup water, 1/4 sugar. I usually boil the water then add the sugar, then let cool before putting in feeder, the 1 cup is perfect for this feeder.

Easiest to Clean! I just rinse and sterilize with boiling water!
The media could not be loaded. I tried a BUNCH of different types of hummingbird feeders over the years, and finally settled on this one. I've bought about ten of these over the years. Don't put them in the dishwasher -- makes the red color fade and then they're not as attractive to the hummers. Just rinse in hot water and then sterilize by pouring BOILING water over them. Refill and put back up every other day or every three days. IMPORTANT: If your hummingbird feeder is hard to clean you will resist doing it and delay between cleanings so the sugar water will ferment and get moldy and that is DANGEROUS and possibly FATAL to hummingbirds. So an easy-to-clean feeder like this is ideal. Whole cleaning process takes like 60 seconds -- see short video I made to illustrate the process. Make sure to have your big fat tuxedo cat inspect your work before you put the feeder back up!

This really is the best design.
I've tried many, many hummingbird feeders over the last 25 years and I keep coming back to this one. It may not be the prettiest, but it works the best because it doesn't drip and the birds prefer it. I've had three different designs in the garden at once and something draws the birds predominantly to this one.

Me encanta!
