Performs as advertised! The TUF-CLOTH comes saturated with Sentry Solutions' TUF-GLIDE.Wiping down the clean metal components of your collectable knives with a TUF-CLOTH rewards you with a satiny shine that does indeed dry without an oily film. The treated metal resists stains from fingerprints and rejects dirt and dust. From the research I've done, the rust inhibiting performance of this stuff is about as good as it gets! For marine environments use the marine-grade TUF-CLOTH, as used by Navy SEALs.For routine light cleaning I just use canned or compressed air, and a microfiber cloth to remove finger prints. For more thorough cleaning, I blow away any debris with canned air, then use 90% alcohol, paper towel or cotton balls, Q-tips, and/or gun cleaning patches. I then thoroughly dry the surfaces with more canned air. Finally, I apply a coat of TUF-GLIDE to the blade, bolsters, and exposed metal surfaces. For some knives, I apply a layer over the entire knife--grips and all. Let the knife air dry for maybe a half hour, and it's good to go, though I'll sometimes apply a second or even a third coat to brand new metal. This stuff gives a nice, even, satiny glow to my knife blades--even the black-coated blades. New black-blades may require two or three applications for an even finish, but after that, one occasional application will suffice. Here too, the blade will resist fingerprints and dirt. Let surfaces dry thoroughly between applications.TUF-GLIDE makes the details in my Damascus blades pop! I condition these as I do my black-coated blades.TUF-GLIDE also brings out the richness of bone, horn, and wooden grips, offering protection from water, skin oils and acids.I apply TUF-GLIDE Lubricant via their Needle Applicator Bottle to all moving parts. A little goes a long way, but if a folding knife is stiff, I'll use a few drops, and once the assembly moves easily, I'll blow the extra lubricant out with canned/compressed air, and wipe it off. Be sure to shake the bejabbers out of the bottle before dispensing TUF-GLIDE, to ensure that the proper lubricants are getting where you want them. The scent of TUF-GLIDE is not at all objectionable, to me anyway. It smells a lot like turpentine, which is something I grew up with. The smell dissipates quickly, and most of it will be coming from your cleaning patches and cloths--and the TUF-CLOTH itself. I seal the disposables in a plastic grocery bag, and return the TUF-CLOTH to its plastic jar. Easy-peasy.If you don't use your TUF-CLOTH for actual cleaning, it will last indefinitely. You can occasionally revive the well-used cloth with TUF-GLIDE spray; just be sure to shake it well before dispensing it.I presently don't use this product on my guns. I use Hoppe's Elite Gun Cleaner, Hoppe's Number 9 Oil, and the traditional silicone cloth. But I'm beginning to question that policy...I give the TUF-CLOTH and TUF-GLIDE Lubricant a full 5-Stars, and readily recommend it to others!RayB

Does the job
Bought this mainly to use on Benchmade / Emerson / Zero Tolerance knives. So far its great. I quite like the smell. Seems to leave a good film on the surface after the volatiles flash off to protect the metal surfaceStarted using it on some of my woodworking measuring tools (Starrett squares and rulers). Think it will help keep them rust free. Am going to test if it leaves any residual on the wood which would affect the finish before trying it on the chisels/planes etcI bought a small bottle of the TUF -glide so I can recharge the cloth if necessary. So far has not, as the screw top jar works fine.

Sentry Solutions products truly are hidden gems
FYI... I'm using similar review content for several Sentry Solutions products that I purchased here at Amazon.com as all are commented on within:This item is no joke. I bought it because I like the idea of a dry lubricant for lighter recoil guns, my carry gun (pocket & clothing lint) and my .22s due to their excessive lead and carbon buildup. These types of products take more effort and patience to apply, but they are worth it. You can actually feel your firearms function more smoothly after using them, and they make subsequent cleanings far easier to manage and take less time. This product is recommended highly for knives, while SMOOTH-KOTE is recommended for internal firearms parts. However, TUF-Glide can also be used for quick cleaning and light cleaning of firearms, and in fact the US Army uses the TUF-Cloth in the field for on-the-fly rifle and handgun cleaning, particularly in the desert, dusty environments of Iraq and Afghanistan. TUF-Cloth is a 100% lint-free microfiber cloth that is saturated in TUF-Glide and reusable.I prep the surface with 99% isopropyl alcohol as my solvent, which dries quickly, and then I apply SMOOTH-KOTE with a hobbyist paint brush to all disassembled internal parts. One warning, you can absolutely use SMOOTH-KOTE on the outside of your firearm too, but it dries to a charcoal grey color so most people do not do this. I don't. I run the TUF-Cloth over the outside metal parts after I've reassembled it, and I treat all inner parts with SMOOTH-KOTE. That's for a thorough cleaning. For quick cleanings, like if I'm just wanting to polish up the feed ramp, breach and chamber areas, I use the TUF-Glide pen oiler and some tight cotton swabs or small cleaning patches. It's excellent as a cleaner since it's suspended in mineral spirits, and it leaves behind a nice, dry, slick surface. This item's needle applicator has been great and this solution will not clog it. My only complaint about the SMOOTH-KOTE product is the needle applicator will clog if you don't use it for a few weeks and it dries out. This happened to me and I didn't realize it. I squeezed the bottle a little too hard and the stuff came flying out like a laser beam when the clog broke free, which stained my hands, cleaning mat and old t-shirt. Fortunately nothing of value, and I know better now. I actually like the smell of this too, but that's not to say it will be that way for everyone. Anyways, highly recommended product here if you have the patience to use it. I find "painting" my firearms parts to actually be quite relaxing. It's like ceramic figurines, but for dudes (mostly).

Great product!
Great product for maintaining your knife blades from obtaining rust. It comes in a small plastic container and with a couple of wipes on your Blade it is easily applied. As far as how long it will keep rust off my pocket knives only time will tell since I just picked up this product. I will say, though it provides a nice film of lubricant on your blade and is not messy.

Get this one, not the ziplock one.
I use this on my carbon steel (cpm3v) knives and axes. Clean tools after each trip and wipe it down with tuf-cloth. No rust on anything. The small jar seals up and keeps the cloth clean and protected.
