A very detailed model kit
I haven't built a model for almost 30 years and just started again. These are some of the best and most detailed models in the business. Due to their niche, I don't think they'll last long so get 'em while you can!

Ok model
The model is 19 inches when fully assembled. It is about the same size of the diamond select model of this ship. Was easy to put together and paint. There is an issue with putting both pylons attaching to the star drive section. The slit for the tab will only go in so for. So you will end up with a small gap. This model has a lot of decals some way to small for my patience level. Also There are a lot of decals that seemed to be missing that are normal on the ship. I thought ,I was missing a sheet. No I checked no they deliberate left out decals. Mostly from the the bottom of the ship and one or two on the saucer top. As AMT want you to buy the Aztec decal sheet separately, which includes all decals. Over all fun to put together . be warned the decal sheet has problems as half of mine did not want to come off the sheet and required decal soliton to use.

This is a typical AMT Star Trek model. All ...
This is a typical AMT Star Trek model. All parts fit well and I found no real problem areas. This one only took me about 3 weeks to build. Including some additions that don't come with the kit such as a detailed Shuttle bay and full LED lighting. A note to anyone out there who may want to build this model and add the hull plate aztecing decals, DO NOT buy the Acreation aztecing decals. I ordered a set from his web site a month ago and I still have not received them. I completed the model using a set of free decal images that I found online. They are made by a very talented man named Carlos Zangrando. (He has designed decals for many Sci Fi models and offers them up for free downloading) Just download the files and print them on Decal paper then seal the sheet, Let it dry and you are ready to go. Mine turned out very well and I want to thank Carlos for his hard work.

loved it!
Planed this build before I put it together... some parts need fixing like impulse engine made them thicker...and other things such as light blocking the shuttle bay because its in clear for some reason best bet would be getting the photo etch for this kit and water slide aztec decals...oh and the worst part was drilling holes for the windows ...but worth it when done ....

Ask What and Why before you buy.
So the big takeaway from building this was definitely before you buy to make sure that you are aware that it needs glue to assemble the pieces. I was perfectly okay with having to paint this model but I felt like they were too many water skin decals, and the application for the decals was not fully explained in the directions. Overall I had fun with this build but I won't be building another one like this for a while.
