Mine did not come with any screws, it this normal?

Screws are included in the package> Ours are already inserted in the base. You just need to unscrew to assemble and screw all parts.

Any guess on how many of the plastic retail hangers it would hold?

I don't know. I use wood hangers and it holds more than I would EVER need it to hold. I've never come close to filling it up. It really is a good product.

Would kids hangers fit on this?

My baby clothes hangers don’t fit.

will this work for wire shirt hangers?

I bought this stacker for my non slip hangers however, they work for all kinds of hangers. This would work with wire, hard plastic, the plastic and metal combo hangers frequently given when you purchase a dress or coat from a retail store; it takes them all. I has really been a god send. When I purchased it, I planned on using it to store the extra hangers that I had not used. I have cleared out my closet for donations and it has been great to make space on the rods too! Great purchase.
