Great Universal Fit for Factory crossbars, but need just a little tuning
Every since I bought my 1999 Dodge Durango (NEW), I have been unable to locate canoe gunwale brackets (or, for that matter, load stops) that fit the factory cross arms. Recently, I found this product, and that problem's SOLVED! These are great, very sturdy brackets, and install easily with the supplied (in two different lengths) stainless bolts. And the supplier is wonderful, too. My package arrived, and had been damaged by the USPS. Two of the four brackets, as well as the included tie downs, were missing. I contacted the supplier, and they shipped me another full set that very same day. So, five stars for the vendor as well.Update - Several of my canoes have "tumblehome" - wherein the gunwale is inside of the maximum hull width. If the gunwale brackets are installed so that they're outside the gunwales, the brackets are excessively tall, and may contact / rub the hull itself. I cut mine down about 1/2 inch and sanded them nicely; if they were flared a little more, that'd take care of it, too. They're still great products; they may just need a little tuning to work with your boat. Still five stars!

Bulky but effective
Bulkier than a similar system for my old Yakima round bar roof rack but the best I can find for my thule aero system. Taller than it needs to be means harder to lift the canoe over it and it hits canoe above the gunwhale.

Some parts need modification
The actual brackets are great and work really well, however they come with two sets of mounting clamp bolts - - the black steel ones are fine, but the Stainless Steel ones are obviously preferrable - - however, the heads don't fit into the recesses in the brackets. I had to grind them down so that they would drop in. The SS seems to be a really hard variety (maybe 400 series surgical grade) so they are very difficult to cut shorter with a hack saw. Once modified, I really like the end result.

So far so Good!!
So far the brackets did fit on the car racks that I purchased. However, winter has arrived before I could put my canoe onto the rack and secure the canoe with the brackets. Everything looks great for next spring when the lakes thaw and I have time to go on a canoe trip.

Transports canoe without sliding.
The brackets worked perfectly to transport our canoe. The only negative item was that the plastic bracket detached from the metal screw. The bracket is still useable but need to use a tool to tightened instead of your fingers.

Good Product
They are sturdy, have good size which holds canoe well. They look good and are easy to use.

Worked as intended
These really made a solid mount for our canoe. 800 mile trip and I had no concerns about the canoe coming loss or getting blown around by semi's
