Poor Pad Quality (SCIENCE!!) - Discussion on Healthline RETURN POLICY
My take on these pads (if used by an adult) based on science and observation... These pads are stated to be able to 1500 ml of liquid. Cotton can only absorb 27 times its weight in liquid. At a total of 45 grams of cotton fluff in these pads, at 100% saturation they would still barely hold just over 1200 ml...Now, let's talk about urination. Most folks go No. 1 on average 6-8 times a day. The average adult (assuming ~2 liters of intake fluid a day) produces between 800-2000 ml of urine in a day. That's an average of ~250-333 ml of urine each time you go. Based on that data alone, you could reasonably assume these pads would leave your furniture high and dry if you had an accident while sitting or lying on them. WRONG! Not to mention that on average, you would micturate 250 to 475 ml just with your first urination of the day!The reality is, if you stood over the pad and equally distributed your urine (think writing your name in the snow), the pad would be successful in absorbing the highest average volume of an adult urinating. The problem is how you lay on the pad (both position of the pad and relative sleep position) and how much of that pad is available for absorption of free liquids. The average adult sleeps either in a fetal position or on their side with only 7% of the population sleeping on their stomach and a slightly higher percentage sleeping on their back. Statistically, most people are going to position themselves in the middle of the underpad to give the most edge protection during urination. Given the average thickness of the human hip is 25-30 cm and the relative angle of the pressure point on the mattress given the weight of the person, you would only have ~17% of the pads cotton fluff available for absorption! That is barely over 200 ml!!! And that's not even taking in to consideration dynamic absorption rates, immersion time, temperature, condensed phase of the liquid, or uniformity of velocity!! Let's face it, if Grandpa is full steam ahead after a day of sun tea and a nightcap, he would be putting some serious numbers on the board!!Now, for everyone keeping track I had to assume the following: Persons physical build of 29 BMI, 176 cm Height, 99 cm Waist. I also made the assumption that the subject would be sleeping on a medium firmness mattress resulting in approximately 70% of the available pad was not uphill when the flood gates were opened.BOTTOM LINE: YOU PEE ON THIS PAD, YOU MIGHT AS WELL JUST STAND UP IN BED AND PEE ON EVERYTHING!Healthline has the standard Amazon Return Policy. I went to file my return in "3 Easy Steps" and it states that this product is not eligible for return. I contacted the seller (thick Eastern European accent - "hello, my name is Peggy") and explained that I needed a return. I gave them the order number and they told me I had to ship it to them in Brooklyn on my own dime and then they would refund my money. Let's face it, $15.80 ain't worth that kind of shipping... Not satisfied, I contacted Amazon directly and they issued me a refund almost immediately.Moral of the story is, use the Amazon chat and you will most likely get a good outcome! Also, these pads are a cheap sham...

Buy chux somewhere else -- you would be disappointed with these low-quality chux
Low quality. Very thin. Do NOT absorb much. Previous order was just OK. Reorder was NOT OK. Packing box seemed to contain only half the order because these chux are so thin and lightweight. Sent message to seller, who told me to call their supplier, Medline (a reputable one, I believe). Medline stated they don't supply chux without inside identification. These chux seem to be an off-shore brand of very-low quality. Most medical facilities probably have an off-site purchasing agent who never sees the product; thus the reason for so few complaints.

Tear Easily When Using on an Adult
I am a care-taker for my bed-ridden mother. She is on a catheter, but the bed still needs protection. If you pull just a bit too hard so there are no wrinkles, they tear. They are also not that absorbent with fluids. Also, some of the seams are not sealed all the way, so be careful when unfolding them otherwise there may be cotton flying around the room.

They leak
This was a re-order of a previous item I had purchased and used up, have an aging cat who needs these to pee on instead going in the box. Don't ask. These are a bit different, maybe in the amount of material on the borders, point being I thought I received something different from what I originally ordered, and they are, turns out. They leak. Not every time, but if we don't get to them within an hour or two of being used, the floor underneath is wet with cat pee. And she is not peeing over the sides of the pad, there's a clear, distinct wet area in the middle. Never happened with the previous order, so I did not hesitate in reordering these. Bad batch? Different materials? Something else? Hmmm

Great for bird cages!
Found a youtube video that suggested using these for bird cage liners. Super absorbent for bird messes and keeps odors down unlike newspaper. Clean up is a breeze too. Just fold in the edges and ball it for the trash can. Not a chore like it use to be and i dont deal with noxious fumes like with newspaper. Which is good for my asthma and for my birbs. Plus a 50 pack for ~$16 is a steal. Actual marketed cage liners cost an arm and a leg. Especially for my cocktiels’ very large flight cage. These fit almost perfect and are a huge win for me.

They fall apart. Not absorbent.
They fall apart, not absorbent, it's an annoyance to clean all the mat hairs after use. Don't buy, not worth it.

Might be okay for a dog
It's a reasonable price, but if you're using them under a person I'd say even the 100-pack of Amazon Basics small puppy pads are better. The surface stays wet and they overflow onto bedsheets if you don't have a cloth underpad under them. Once they're saturated they are really easy to tear and break apart into a million pee-soaked cotton boogers. I've even had them tear when unrolling after tucking them under my brother.

Great value!
I must admit that I use these underpads for under my kitty litter pan. One of my large cats likes to pee sitting on the edge of the litter pan and all does not always end up in the pan!!! The pads are very absorbent and also control the odor. They are definitely as good, if not better than some of have used at a higher cost. I am very pleased with this product.
