blue color) on the fine thread part of the puller to keep the brass ...
There isn't much to it but what there is seems to be well made. I MIGHT put a drop or two of lock-tite (the removable type, blue color) on the fine thread part of the puller to keep the brass guide on the screw. I'll add to this review when the weather warms up some. It's too cold for me to shoot muzzle loaders now ;-) !! As an after thought, over the years of shooting muzzle loaders when I needed to use a ball puller I ALWAYS had a hard (if not impossible) time getting the puller started in the ball. I've thought about this before and I'm thinking about making up an adapter with a drill bit the same size as the wood screw part (or slightly smaller) of the puller. The procedure would be to attach the drill bit adapter to the end of the ramrod and twist the rod until a small hole about a half of the diameter of the stuck ball is achieved. Be careful not to go any deeper or you might run into the rifling and damage it. Then run a patch with ample supply of lubricant down the bore to ease pulling of the ball. What do you folks think? Let me know at "[email protected]".

It works...period!
You read many reviews of bullet pullers failing to work properly. Most times these reviews are generated by folks that don't utilize the tool properly. I'm a gunsmith but I don't routinely work on muzzle loaders. I bought this bullet puller for a job and I read all the horror stories of bullet pullers stripping out of bullet and leaving a jagged bullet behind. First off you need to deactivate any powder charge that may be in the gun for safety. Then lubricate the barrel by pouring penetrating oil down the muzzle and letting it sit for awhile. Take the tool and ensure that you are centered in the bore of the barrel pushing it down until you make contact with the obstruction (ball or bullet). Twist the handle of whatever extension you are using until it screws itself all the way into the obstruction. You will "feel" the obstruction start to rotate once the screw is all the way in. Do not use the free rotating cleaning rods made to follow lands and grooves. These will not work for obvious reasons. Pull the rod/extension out SLOWLY and the obstruction will come out. I have since removed various obstructions both ball and bullet, and this tool works like a charm!
