Works great in breaking apart monster boulders!
Dexpan used in natural solid Granite Slab to make a ramp ( 10' wide x 6' long and about 45 degree slope). Drilled holes from 24"-32" deep in multiple stages. Spacing of holes were 12"-16" apart. Some of the holes were drilled the recommended 1.5" diameter. Works great. Also tried drilling 1.25" diameter holes. Worked very good for me and sped up the project! I did fill one group of holes with Dexpan while it was raining. Bad idea. Water got into the filled holes and the Dexpan would not expand as designed! Keep area dry if you can and the more time you let the Dexpan " work" the better. Even after 24 hours it was still expanding a little.

Product works amazing!!!!
I had some giant rocks sticking out of my road and driveway. They were to large to excavate. Following the directions on this product l drilled holes 8 to 12 inches apart approximately 12 inches deep. Once l had approximately 9ft of holes to fill l mixed the Dexpan and poured it into the cleaned out holes. Cracks started to appear within just a few hours. After two days cracks were so large I could easily stick prybar into crack and remove rock as deep as holes that were drilled. Wish l had bought this year's ago. So quick and easy to use and worked better than l could have imagined. Thanks Dexpan! I will be buying more.

Safely fracturing rock
After drilling a stone following the directions to the letter placement of the cement and a little time and patience I was extremely satisfied with the results. Practice good safety protocols wear quality eye protection , gloves and skin protection this product works very well.

Not great for under ground granite
I used this to break up red granite rock with mixed results. Because the rock was fully in the ground, it did not work as I had hoped for. Best results were with parallel holes drilled at 45 to 60 degrees toward each other making a vee. This allows the pressure to push a trough in the rock, which is what I wanted. In the end, I used a jack hammer for most of the work. It was worth the try.

Works well on rock, need to over educate yourself
Worked extremely well!! I had a hard time finding reviews with only partially exposed rock. My rock doesn’t seem to have a bottom to it but I only needed to remove the top 12” at the rocks highest elevation. I used 1 1/4” bit and also a 1” bit. The larger holes produced larger cracks. The larger bit does take longer to drill. I would if I used a 3/4” bit first then the 1 1/4” after that seems to make the process go faster. Tried enlarging the 1” holes with the 1 1/4” bit and the larger bit kept getting stuck. There is a learning curve with drilling, you will need a pipe wrench to unstick your bits. Bought a roto hammer drill at HF for $125; that would have been a 2 day rental at HD.

This stuff is great.
We were having trouble getting our garages 3 foot deep foundation broke up. We drilled holes and poured this stuff in and let it do it's magic. This is a great product if you need to break up deep large pieces of concrete. Would definitely purchase again.

Works with 3/4 bit 2' long bit
I wanted to crack this large rock to make a bench. Drilled 12 holes, 2 feet deep, with a 3/4 bit. Very horizontal. I can normally fill 20 or so holes with one bag. I wanted to be there when it cracked so I drilled 10 more holes in between the holes and put in 10 wedges. And after less than 12 hours got a nice beautiful flat crack. Since then, it's continued to lift the rock.
