God Makes the Rivers to Flow: An Anthology of the World's Sacred Poetry and Prose

The writings were inspirational.

I love opening this book to a random page and seeing what treasure awaits. It’s a nice compilation across faiths.

This book is just been an absolute treasure for me. I've never seen anything like it, and I go to it all the time. I'm getting more as gifts for my daughters.

Just love all of Easwaran's books. I have memorized many of these passages for meditation and enjoy reading the others. It tells of the source and author of the passages. There is a great variety to refer to for many different needs. I appreciate the translations by a great meditation teacher, Eknath Easwaran, who brings these words to people of all different back rounds and beliefs. Thank you.

I have read through the book a couple time and have passages which have special meaning to me whish I use during my passage medication.

The reason I gave "God Makes the Rivers Flow" 4-stars, instead of 5-stars, is a reflection on my choice to get the Kindle Edition. I love my Kindle. But, this book would be better to flip though, not to read like a novel. I think a printed version would have been a better choice.I have a lot of respect for Eknath Easwaran. He did not just tolerate diversity, he genuinely valued diversity. His works are a great way to bring traditions and peoples together, not only by showing what they have in common (although that is valuable too), but by cerebrating the ways that they differ. His works demonstrate that each tradition has noticed something about God that others did not, and they all add value to humanity's global relationship with God. "God Makes the Rivers Flow" is a great example of that.

If you’re interested in a quick and fascinating tour of the world’s great theologians and philosophers, this is the book for you!

Eknath Easwaran was a wonderful teacher who taught passage meditation, memorizing and repeating to oneself sacred writings. These writings are drawn from many of the great religious traditions. In the last few years of my aging mother's life, she and I spent many hours reading these passages together, meditating on them, and discussing them. We had our favorites and when one of us was travelling, we would agree to meditate on one or two particular ones at the same time wherever we were. At her death, I recited many of these passages to her to bring her peace. She died more than a decade ago but these passages still evoke that beautiful time in my mind and I am grateful for this beautiful resource of passages. I find that everything in this book is a source of peace when I read and meditation on it.

Very deep meaningful prayers

This lowkey man is a treasure of the world. Here be wisdom! I was introduced to his work when I was much younger and, luckily, took it up again when I was finally ready to start living his message.

This is a superb collection of spiritual writings with a good balance of sources and themes. This book is beautifully presented- good cover image, clear fonts, good choice of text, good introductory and linking texts where needed. Overall this is well presented and compiled book. It will help those of us who need inspiration, and a lift beyond our daily work and task. It's a book that helps life make more sense.

I've got a lot of Eknath Easwaran books. Let's just say that. Another great book for 'waking up' to :o)
