Easy to install and works perfectly.
We have community mail boxes and I always thought the postal service was responsible for maintaining them. We dealt with a weak and then broken lock for quite some time before I learned the lock was my responsibility. Bought this lock and had the old one replaced in about 3 minutes. Comes with several sizes and shapes depending on the type of box you have, and I expect you could find at least one that would work for just about any installation. Great value.

BUY IT!
I wish I could give more than five stars for this wonderful product. I replaced the worn out lock in my mailbox with this replacement lock. For the first time that I can remember, an off-brand replacement part was not just superior to the original part, but vastly superior. The mailbox locked cover lid for the mail receptacle was always loose when closed and locked even when new. But with the new lock it now fits perfectly tight. The replacement lock is much more difficult to pick. And the company includes five different cams for whatever size is needed. Delivery was the next day after ordering and installation is simple. I highly recommend this product.

Does da job
Prime-Line S 4140 Mailbox Lock performs as advertised. It popped right in with no difficulty. All my negative comments are related to MY mailbox and aren't really the fault of the mailbox lock. With that, let's dig in. So as I said, it installed quite easily. Used a channelock wrench to pull out the retaining click and used the handle of the wrench to push in the new clip (because I was too lazy to get a hammer). This lock unlocks counterclockwise and my old one unlocked clockwise. I'll just have to get used to that. I also had to remove and rotate the arm to get the lock/unlock to be positioned correctly. Although multiple arms were provided, none were exactly the right size. I ended up adding a pair of small .25" felt pads to hold the mailbox door the right distance in the closed position so the lock arm would swing into position perfectly without having me to jiggle the door to make it align with the mailbox lock slot. As I look at the other locks on the mailboxes near mine, I noticed that all the other locks had a keyhole cover. This lock does not. While a keyhole cover would be nice, our mailboxes are covered so it probably won't get rained on so for me, it probably isn't an issue. Hopefully no bugs will think the keyhole is a nice looking home... Now we'll see how well it holds up over time to determine if this was a good purchase or not.

Fits the USPS boxes perfectly
These are great locks that fit the USPS community mailboxes just perfectly. We have five rentals and change out the lock every time we get a new renter. All of the boxes in the different complexes have taken the same lock, so it appears to be at least a regional standard. My wife and I have rental units and we always buy these locks for three reasons. 1) They're less than 1/2 the price of purchasing them at Home Depot or Lowes 2) As apposed to some cheaper versions, you can have these keys copied at Lowes or Home Depot 3) They always fit the USPS boxes correctly Important tips: When removing the original lock, pay close attention to the orientation of the lock. You'll want the inside end where the locking arm attaches to be in the same position as the original. (Normally it is offset to one side left or right, not up or down) When mounting the lock initially, don't push the retaining clip in completely. It fits very tightly and if you've positioned the lock incorrectly it can be a real hassle to remove. Just push it in so it holds it in place well enough to test. Once everything is working smoothly, pop the clip in completely. The kit comes with 5 different arms to correctly fit your specific type of mailbox, but instead of playing around with that, I've found that most of the time the lock goes into the same position and original locking arm fits perfectly (as it was there in the first place).

Lock works fine and install was relatively easy - unless you drop the nut holding the cam in place. Three stars - not five. This is not a USA lock and the key blank to make additional keys are knock offs of the USA C106 key blank and the C106 key that a locksmith makes will not fit in the lock! UNLESS the locksmith grinds 1/100 off of the blank. After discovering this annoying flaw I asked the lock guy if the lock would fail prematurely and he said no. So my strong suggestion is that you take the lock to the locksmith and have keys made and see that they work while you are standing in the lock shop before you install the lock on the mailbox. This is not what I did.

Super smooth!
Super smooth! It took me a while to find the correct latch for the mailbox — I ended up asking my mailbox neighbor if I could peak at his and, luckily, his latch was imprinted with the same number. Once I identified the correct latch, position and direction, it was a cinch! Honestly, the directions weren't very useful, but I've done this once before, so prior experience slowly returned to my memory. Once installed, the lock was a bit smaller than the pre-cut hole, but not enough for me to be concerned. And, the lock itself is SO SMOOTH! The last replacement lock I purchased was sticky from the factory start. Similar price point, completely disparate quality. This is an excellent lock. I'm glad I purchased the 2-pack, however, I doubt I'll need the second.

At the time they were the only ones I could Find
And a little help lol...I've known these as Mail Box keys and I've been around them for a long time..they're pretty standard...with a little hick up. They are not for Canada Post boxes...go to an official P.O....fill out the form and wait for a call. However if you live in an apartment building with boxes in the entrance you'll need these keys because they aren't P.O. property. Here's the hick up. My box has a slot cut into the left side and it took a lot of searching to come up with a solution. A wonderful man told me if the cams won't fit I'll just have to bend one to fit. There's nothing wrong with the key set it's standard and if your box doesn't lock..your mail doesn't get delivered..Good Luck
