Good Morning, Thumper! (Disney Bunnies) Board book – December 30, 2008

My daughter and I really like these Disney Bunnies books generally. They have beautiful pictures and very basic and fun stories or rhymes. However, the sliding windows in this book don't work very well. They are difficult for even me to open, and they sometimes slide crookedly and get stuck slightly sideways. Sometimes we force them open, but then they slide under the back and get jammed. Unfortunate, because it's a cute book with a lot of potential to be fun.

I think I bought the whole Thumper series. Couldn't be more pleased with them all.

My grandchildren love it. We read it every time they come over and spend the night. They want it read over and over again.

The construction of the book is cheap. The cover and pages are nice, but the little windows to slide open on each page are very thin and easy to ruin. I bought this for the interactive factor so the wimpy interactive windows are disappointing.

The star rating is based on my daughter's response. I actually got on Amazon to try to find more sliding window Thumper books after my 18 month old daughter received this book as a gift. She already had "Thumper's Shapes" and really likes it, but this one blew it out of the water on the first read. It instantly became one of the chosen few to be put into the bedtime book rotation (her choice, and usually reserved for more experienced and familiar books). The sliding windows were a little stiff at first, but have loosened up so she only has an issue opening them occasionally now. I'm planning to buy some of the lift-the-flap Bunnies books, but I'm not sure if she'll warm up to them like the sliding window.FYI: we have a LOT of board books. I pick them up at thrifts stores every time I go, and this one is at the top of her list. Oh, and we do have one other sliding window book and the picture underneath gets scratched up from the sliding action. I haven't noticed that issue with this book.

This is the best book my one year old received for Christmas! The book we received was heavy duty board and the windows slid very easy. They must've upgraded since several other reviewers from past years didn't have much luck. Our book is of excellent quality - I'm looking for other sliding windows books since this one is so awesome!
