Product Description Marcus Miller V7 Swamp Ash-4 2nd Gen is a 4-string electric bass developed by Sire in collaboration with American bassist and composer Marcus Miller. Most of us know Marcus Miller as bassist for Miles Davis, Aretha Franklin, Michael Jackson, Paul Simon, David Sanborn and George Benson or as a composer for eg. Jay-Z. He has now teamed up with Sire to develop and produce a whole new series of electric basses, which has received an impressive reception among bassists and reviewers. The renowned American magazine for bassists "Bassplayer" writes among other things: “The Sire basses represent the best value out there if you're looking for hot-rodded J-style bass. I haven't seen anything that comes close. In order to purchase an instrument that offers a notable upgrade in sound or feel, one would probably be looking to triple the price, at least. Marcus Miller V7 Swamp Ash-4 2nd Gen is based on a traditional jazz bass design. The body is made of ash wood, which is known for producing a well-balanced sound that is resonant and which provides a good balance with a pleasant treble, a firm bass and a subdued midrange. The neck is made in one piece of Canadian maple, which, through its hardness and strength, minimizes throat movement and provides a stable and good playing sensation, while at the same time giving the bass a persistent tone. On the 2nd Gen model, Sire has chosen to give the electric bass a quality boost, which means that V7 Swamp-Ash 2nd Gen is now made with satin lacquered neck and rounded neck/ fingerboard transition. Thus, you get a more comfortable playing sensation by virtue of a neck that is better in the hand and which does not become greasy when playing and exercising for extended periods. The bridge on which the strings are anchored is specially developed at Marcus Miller's request and can best be characterized as a vintage jazz bass bridge with larger mass. This design provides a rich sound with a powerful impact. In addition, Marcus Miller has determined that the strings should be passed through the body, which further gives the V7 electric bass a tighter, more precise and consistent sound. The saddle is one of the most important parts of an electric base, as it is crucial to the bass playability and sound. Although leggings are both expensive and hard to work with, legs are considered to deliver a more balanced and clear tone, and Sire has therefore chosen not to compromise on this point and has fitted Marcus Miller V7 Swamp Ash-4 2nd Gen with a saddle in the legs. Electronics The pickup configuration on the Marcus Miller V7 is typically jazz bass, but the pickups are made with shape-coil, which gives the traditional jazz bass tone a more warm and authentic vintage flair, as found in many old jazz basses. At Swamp Ash-4 2nd Gen, Sire has changed the Alnico magnet's magnetization method, making the sound even more reminiscent of a 20-year-old Heavy Formvar Pickup. The bobbin is now made with pure enamel and the bobbin winding machine has been given a new program that gives the same winding speed and twisted crossing angle with which a handmade pickup is made. The pickups are connected to the Sire's Marcus Heritage-3 pre-amplifier, which offers a truly unique range of options to influence the bass tone. The use of 2 pcs. 9V batteries allow the bass player to get a strong and powerful signal without the sound of the bass being pressed or unnatural. With a built-in 3-band tone control with bass, midrange and treble, you get full control of your tone range so you can customize bass sound to any music style. The mid-range control has a built-in sweep, so you can decide for yourself where in the mid-range range (200 Hz to 1 kHz) the mid-range control should take hold.
