Great insulators in keeping the cold air out
It is amazing where cold air can come from. I live in the Carolinas and I was surprised to feel how much cold air comes through light switch boxes or electrical sockets. A friend recommended I get some wall plate insulators and, after doing some research and reading a lot of online reviews, I decided to order these insulators. Since it's currently winter time, I wanted to see how well these insulators kept out the cold air. Our kitchen is notoriously colder than the main part of the house as it is along the south wall and the electrical sockets and switch boxes seemed to act as wind tunnels.Summary: these insulators do a great job of keeping the cold air out.Now for the details:I have Decora light switches throughout the house and, for single switch installations, these insulators fit the switches perfectly (as photographed below). If you have two or more switches together, then installing these insulators turns into an "arts-and-crafts" project. What I found best is to install one insulator as is (in the middle of the switch box if you have 3 or more) and then cut the rest to fit. (See pictures below.)For Decora switches, I give these insulators 5 out of 5 stars. For wall sockets, I give 3.5 out of 5 stars and here's why: while you can punch out the holes for the electrical outlets, it is near to impossible to not punch out the corners as well (as pictured below). This leaves an gap where air can still get into the house. Where the inflow of air wasn't too bad, these insulators worked really well to cut out 50-90% of the incoming air. For sockets where there was too much air coming in (like my kitchen), I had to purchase proper insulators specifically for the electrical sockets. So, for installing around electrical sockets, these insulators are good.(I do not have single pole switches so I cannot comment on how well these work for that type of installation.)Now that I've done my whole house, both my wife and I have noticed the kitchen is not as cold and the temperatures in the rest of the house overall are more constant. Even with some really cold days lately, the areas of the house that were usually cold are warmer. These insulators really do work well and we have noticed a major improvement.I would definitely recommend these insulators, especially if you have Decora light switches. The price for what you get is fantastic. However, as a caveat, if you have electrical sockets that have a lot of air coming through them, I would recommend getting insulators specifically for electrical sockets.4 out of 5 starsOne piece of advice: have one area (such as a kitchen table or countertop) where you can work on punching out these insulators - especially the little holes for the plate screws. Having them in one place is easier to clean up than trying to clean up small amounts of foam around the house.

Attach with spray adhesive (but be wary: very FLAMMABLE!)
Many other reviews here cover the effectiveness of these wall plate insulators, but many also mention how easily some of the snap-out parts that you don't want to snap out (esp for non-GFCI outlets, the kind with two "circles") do so anyway. So I'll share my solution. I bought some adhesive spray and put tgat on the back of the wall cover, then punched out the parts I didn't want in the insulation and attached it to the cover. Often the little corners camo off, but I could still stick them onto the plate. It was also easier to attach the wall plates with the insulators being part of it. If you do this, though, BE FOREWARNED THAT SPRAY ADHESIVE CAN VE FLAMMABLE FOR SEVERAL DAYS AFTER IT DRIES. I put mine aside for three days before reattaching them to the outlet covers. So don't go calling me if your house blows up, and don't spray anywhere near open flame, in the basement next to the gas furnace, gas stove, etc.

Versatile outlet insulation
Living in an old brick building in New England, I purchased these to cut down on heavy drafts coming through my electrical outlets. With a combination of plugs and switches, I loved how I could just pop out whichever pieces I needed for each receptacle. Some reviews mention that it can be difficult to punch out the desired parts, but I had no problem with this. If you're in a rush, sure, you might make some mistakes, but just take your time and the versatility more than makes up for the hassle of punching out foam. The only con I found is that the extra material between my outlets/switches and the switchplates sinks the outlets and switches into the wall a little bit, which makes it a little tougher to adjust dimmers (I use this Lutron dimmer: Lutron DVCL-153P-WH Diva Dimmer for CFL, LED, Halogen, and Incandescent Dimmable Bulbs (1 Pack), White ). I imagine this is just a trade-off you would face with any product. My outlets are not attached to studs, so if yours are, this may not be an issue. It's a very minor nuisance worth the extra insulation.

Fits all styles of plugs and switches
Works great for all plug and switch types from the old style to the "flush" rectangular ones. It is much easier to use if you don't punch the precut form out, and just install it over the receptacle and then place the cover over the top. These definately help keep the draft out!! Worth the purchase.

Worth the trade-off
First, this deal is hard to beat. Versatility and quantity makes this a winner in my book. The little bits are a sort of fragile, but that's the trade-off. I had to take a little electrical tape to anchor the parts I didn't want to come off around the outlet-part of the foam, then fit the gasket on, then start screwing the plate down. As it goes down, the outlet-foam pops out with a little clean-up, and the plate screws down the rest of the way. They are a bit thicker than some of the architecture wanted to deal with, so I had to get creative every so often. I only screwed up a couple, but I wasn't too worried since a box of one hundred was so inexpensive. If it were a little more clumsy-person-friendly, I'd give it another star. Anyhow, I have plenty left over for future projects!

Very fragile
They work but pull apart very easily. I'll probably trash these and find a higher quality gasket.

Careful the little pieces...
You get a lot of these for the money. Only issue is when installing on a standard outlet - the tiny corner tabs easily fall out when removing the other pieces of foam. Otherwise - they worked great. I did all my exterior wall outlets and switches.
