PoolRx Booster (7.5K - 20K Gallons) (2 Pack)

I have a concrete pool with an aggregate finish that was resurfaced 2 years ago. I live in North Florida, where it is already 90 degrees in early May. I have been fighting algae earlier in the year than any other year I can remember. I always add algaecide to the pool weekly (60% poly algaecide, the most expensive/effective kind), I brush regularly, shock regularly, and I keep my water balanced. Despite all that, I have still been getting some algae growth that comes back every time the chlorine goes below 5ppm. Frustrated, I searched online and found this product (PoolRx) by chance. After reading all the positive reviews, I bought it. I have a 13k gallon pool and purchased the appropriate sized capsule (the blue one). I also purchased the "booster minerals", and I'm curious to see how long I can go before I need them.Upon receiving the unit, I followed the instructions (very simple) which included backwashing my filter, cleaning the skimmer and pump baskets, and installing the unit in the pump basket (more water flow than the skimmer basket, so better). I run my pump for 8hrs daily, which "turns my water over" twice. (the instructions say to run the pump daily for long enough to turn the water over 1.5x, minimum).The results were immediate. Within 48hrs, all traces of algae disappeared. I hadn't added algaecide in over a week, either. According to the manufacturer, I won't ever need to use algaecide as long as I run this unit. At $25 a quart (for the 60% poly quat, which would last me about 5 weeks) this unit is going to save me a lot of money in the long run. Moreover, not having to brush as often and add extra chemicals to the pool (I have toddlers who swim every day during the summer) is going to decrease my maintenance requirements and make it healthier for the kids to swim. And, if that wasn't all enough, the chelated minerals (the active ingredients that prevent algaecide) help keep the water balanced and the chlorine lasts 2-3 times as long!!!This product is truly revolutionary and life-changing for someone like me. At this point, I couldn't be more pleased. I will update this review again in the fall and note any changes or the long-term effectiveness/lifespan of the product. SO FAR, SO GOOD! THIS PRODUCT IS THE REAL DEAL!

My pool looked ROUGH. I bought this hoping that it would help really out of desperation more than anything else because I was out of ideas. I really do a lot to keep my pool looking good. I keep the chemicals right, I clean the filters, I backwash, I run the vacuum nightly and still it looked like crap. What can I say? Look at the pictures. Our recurring algae problem was gone instantly and within 48 hours the pool looked like something out of a pool company's brochure (see pics). Not sure how long this will last, but really even if I had to do this 4 times a year it would be worth it as it looks amazing.

I wrote a review for the original PoolRX and we love it. We have a larger pool, and the recommendation I would make is to make sure you do not short change yourself and skimp out on the booster when needed. We tried to use just one booster when in reality we need 1.5-2. It didn't work and I was getting mad, but when I put 2 in our system, it turned blue overnight. I don't know what is in this and what it does, but it turned our pool from green to blue and it is no longer cloudy. You have to be careful that you don't become lazy with your other chemicals, because when you realize that you spend the majority of your time fighting algae, and that is now no longer a problem, you forget to add chlorine. Keep the other levels right and you will have a great summer.

I tell EVERYONE that has a pool about this stuff.....my pool guys first told me about this and I didn't believe in it at first. But after using it for 7 years now I just how easy my pool care is compared to all my other family/friends who have a pool. I have a 23,000 gallon pool with NO spa and have a Pentair D.E. Filter with a Pentair IntelliFlo pump and a Pentair 40k Salt Generator and really the only thing I do is make sure all my buffers are good and I add muratic acid about once a week to bring my PH down and that is it! I'm not joking! I add pool RX at the beginning of the pool season and at the end before winter and that's it! I LOVE LOVE LOVE this product! Try it for at least 3 months and you'll see what I mean. Don't forget to read the INSTRUCTIONS! When using Pool RX you only need to keep your chlorine at .5 - 1ppm because of this awesome stuff!

Turned my pool water a dark brown color two days after adding the booster. Have used Pool RX for years but this time something went wrong. I put the booster in the skimmer basket and have the cage in the pump basket per instructions. This is my second Pool RX basket, had the first one of about 20 months (original and two boosters) and it worked great. I replaces the basket about 7 months ago with no problem. On Fathers Day I added a booster. Three days later the pool was a very dark color and the filter was black. I cleaned the filter and had all the various pool levels check and they all check good. But the pool was still very dark. I asked a couple of pool guys what they thought and one look at the package the Pool RX Booster came in and the #1 ingredient is Copper Sulfide! So I went to a local pool store and had them test the mineral content of my pool water (there are specific test strips to do do this) and the reading was extremely high levels of copper. I've since added a mineral removal and and am now waiting to see if it woorks. If not I wll have to drain the pool and do an acid wash. I will NEVER use this product again.

I used it this summer wasn't sure it worked. About 5 months later had algae and gave refill a try after cleaning filter and my algae problem disappeared! Didn't last 6 months, but not brushing anymore. This stuff works if you follow the instructions (Clean Filter). Even areas I tried brushing wouldn't clean up and now after refill it is all gone over night.
