World of Geekcraft: Step-by-Step Instructions for 25 Super-Cool Craft Projects Paperback – March 23, 2011

Got some very cute projects, and pretty diverse, too. All different media and geeky source. I wish it had a little more in it though. I also wish it specified what show/game/movie a project comes from. I didn't know all of them right off, and it was annoying to have to turn to google. It should just say beneath the project title like "in honor of Super Mario" or whatever.

The book's description and all these glowing reviews leave out the most important thing: if you are a casual crafter this is NOT for you. Perhaps there are 2-3 projects just anyone can do, the rest require tools, techinques and so many different materials that you can spend tons of money, hours of frustration and get little pleasure out of it. The book is nicely laid out, had cool ideas, however is for diehard crafters. Getting sent back for misleading description and reviews.

This book is fantastic for anyone who has an inner geek in them waiting to get out in a crafty way.The levels range from easy to medium to hard.. so its great for any crafty person or if you're like me.. the not so crafty person but hay i try type.I highly recommend this book to any one, lots of awesome stuff in it.. and it lets me be creative with my inner geek.. from Mario to WoW, from Doctor who to Battlestar Galactica... Startrek and Starwars. Its all in this book waiting to get out!

This book has some really fun crafts in it for any skill level. And the kindle version includes the patterns in the back. So if you're crafty, i.e. you know how to trace, it's every bit as useful as the physical version.

Cute ideas, ok step-by-step instructions for anyone with some basic crafting experience.I definitely would recommend checking this out of from the library and skipping purchasing it, it's a fun read but not something you will consult more than once.

Nerdy, introverted ex boyfriend loved it. Vivid pictures! I Don't think he ever used it though! Perfect gift for the artsy nerds in your life!

Bought this for a friend and was satisfied with the tips, templates and extra ideas in the back. It even tells you where to buy some of the more obscure supplies. I thought there would be more ideas in it though.

I want to make everything in this book, though the more advanced crafts are a little out of my current abilities.

I bought this for a friend and promptly returned it. In my opinion, as a geek and a serious crafter, the projects are really quite naff. Not only that, each one has a patronising opening section called 'geek speak' that seeks to explain the sci-fi/gaming reference behind the project. If you need to have this explained to you then I would surmise this is not something that interests you - because no geek needs to be told about Star Wars. Furthermore, 'geek' is such an umbrella term - just because you're a Star Wars fan does not mean you'll have any interest in the rest of this book for example. This book strikes me as being the sort of gift a well-meaning non-geek would buy for a geek friend/relative. I can't speak for all geeks, only myself, when I say I wouldn't recommend it if this is the case. The craft skills involved are also pretty basic, so I wouldn't recommend it on that level either - for example it doesn't take much imagination to string a bunch of dice into a necklace, or to create a steampunk pendant by gluing watch cogs together. Overall I thought this book was too disappointing to give to my friend so I returned it in favour of buying her something better.

I love anything to do with craft and being a bit of a geek too, I was over the moon to see this book which catered for both!The book contains a number of craft projects all geared at geeky recipients; the Star Wars terrariums are a pretty cool idea, as are the solar system plates but the only qualm I have is that these are for intermediate to advanced-skill crafters, so not ideal for those new to hand made projects.Given, full instructions are provided, such as for the Buffy the vampire slayer needlework portrait, but these projects will take TIME and considerable skill to make so I would buy this book only if you are truly dedicated to the cause. Additionally, the time taken would not give you a profit should you decide to sell your makes, and as such the subject matter will also limit your selling capabilities. For true geek-crafters only.

I bought this book after getting more into crafts recently, and being rather geeky myself. It contains 25 projects and lists them according to difficulty. The crafts range from knitting and sewing to creating a wooden mouse pad!Projects include:- Star Wars Terrariums- LOST tin can Telephones and Swan Station Logbook- Pac-Man Fever Wii-mote belt and holster- Periodic Table of the Elements cozies- Harry Potter Baby and Toddler Costume- Secret Message Quilt- Vintage Sci-Fi Book CozieThis book has some nice projects, however I find it annoying that you tend to need different equipment for them - e.g. I really wanted to make one of the necklaces but I didn't have any of the equipment so didn't bother buying even more equipment that I probably won't use again!Personally, I don't think I'll be making much from this book - I've read it and had it for a while but I think I'm going to just make the vintage Sci-Fi book cozie! Perhaps I am just not geeky enough...Overall - if you are into many crafts and consider yourself a geek, you will love it! However, not really for me as it has too wide a range of equipment needed. 3/5

Some good projects but most require items which are difficult to buy small quantities of, so you're left with lots of leftovers. I enjoyed some of the projects but clearly this is an art which needs a lot of practice.
