Doesn't matter, it's a matter of personal preference. If your handles are push down, then probably mounting on top would be best.

not a problem - YES the item divides into two pieces.... one slides within the other and the screw down thread then keeps them together.... the double thickness is then what would prevent someone trying to push the handles down from outside hope that makes sense ian
