Wood Carving Tools Kit | Sloyd, Hook, Detail Knives | Hardwood Handle Grips Carbide Blades, Bonus Sharpener Included All Inclusive 4 Piece Set

I bought these for my 11yr old son and we began using them they day after they arrived. They arrived sharp and in good condition. The handles are comfortable and tight. We also bought two beginner instruction books, which were invaluable to complete the "set" for knowing what to do with these. I also bought my son some simple gloves. It's probably overkill, but it does give some peace of mind while he's learning at least. Other sets may sell a full complement of these items, but I'm very pleased with the quality of these knives at this price, and glad to mix & match accessories that fit my preferences / budget.Two important notes for buyers: 1) The knives arrive with very simple, rubber protectors on each blade. These are sufficient, but it would be nice to have a full covering for the blade. Just be aware, the blades will need to stay in a safe place or in the box because they will be exposed. 2) It would be nice if the set included basic instructions, specifically on using the sharpening stone. You'll have to check YouTube for that.

I was pleasantly surprised with tge fit and feel of these knives. I got them as a knick-around set for my day hike pack and they work great.

I love these tools! My mother got them for me as a present and I started using them right away. They’re sharp right out of the box and are very straight forward to use. That said I do have a few complaints but there minor ones. I wasn’t sure how to use the sharpening stone though, especially on the hook knife. I’m sure I can figure it out on YouTube but a set of instructions would be nice. The handles are kind of nice but I noticed that they’re not finished with anything or completely round, it’s mostly oblong which is nice if you need a quick register but I personally would like to be a rounded handled. I guess the idea is that there easy to personalize. Overall, I think you’re getting a real bang for your buck. And if you’re starting out in spoon making or any kind of wood carving their definitely the perfect tools to buy. Highly recommend. Would definitely buy again.

I am a Boy Scout who just went to camp and did wood carving. The knives fit my hands really well and i think that they will fit bigger hands as well. They are easy to use and would make a great gift for anybody. They are nice and sharp. I have had a good time using these. They seem to be a good quality that will last a long time as long as I take care of them.

When I recieved the set. I almost stabbed myself just grabbing the bag out, assuming there was some kind of sheath on the knives. Yet there was not. So be cautious. But, dollar for dollar, this set is really a great knife set, especially for beginners. I've wanted a cheap spoon knife for a long time, so the other two wood working knives were added bonuses. These knives needed to be sharpened out of the box, but they were quickly razor sharp, and maintain an edge wonderfully when whittling. I plan on upgrading the handles to antler quite soon. So I'll post pictures when I do so. Very awesome set for people who love the great outdoors and being crafty.

Not very sharp

Great knives. Excellent for beginners. The hook knife is a bit tough to sharpen if your unfamiliar with it, but overall this is a very solid choice for anyone who wishes to take up carving.I unfortunately do not care for the bag they arrived in, as it offers little protection to the blades banging around on each other and spoilinga fine edge. Also, the handle of the sloyd and hook blade a a little bulky for my preference.Other than that the are excellent knives. A great choice to get a feel for the slojd, before committing like I did and burying yourself in tools.Great job.

Updated, added more pictures of things I've made with this set. This is the first time I've done spoon crafting and the set felt great.I went ahead and read quite a few of the reviews... and was noticing a pattern saying the blades are dull. So I ignorantly assumed they were true... and boy was that a mistake. Removing the protective cap I was able to slice my index finger. PLEASE BE CAREFUL THEY ARE VERY SHARP!!!!Anyway on to the review:This is my first set of these ever, I recently started watching spoon crafting videos and it looked like something I'd enjoy doing and this set was quite cheap for what it had to offer. It comes with 3 Knives, A hook knife (used to make the scoop part of the spoons or bowls) A sloyd knife, and a detail knife, and a sharpening stone (not huge but better than nothing if you don't really want to spend more money).Right away I began using these tools, right after bandaging my cut up I was ready to go with more precaution this time. They cut very nice and very smooth, I can see how people in those videos make it look so easy! This set is amazing for the price if you're just starting out and want to see if the hobby is for you. Give them a try!
