It is nice to have these two connectors joined with a cable vs. a monolytic unit.I have a rather powerful woman as a user, and a previous monolytic version of this unit ended up broken. It as a miracle that the VGA connector in the monitor was not broken as well.Having this cable joining the two connectors is an easy way to relieve rotation stresses. It works very well, and your monitor should allow for color adjustment if colors are not true. Image is faithful and without "ghost" shadows in it.The cable also makes for a much shorter unit, which helps to angle the two connectors as needed, so it can fit on monitors whose VGA port is in the lower side of the monitor AND pointing down, like mine.This unit definitely solved the problem of stress in the connector.

Used it on my security system.

I'm using a repurposed flatscreen TV as a monitor -- the HDMI never worked and it had a VGA port on it. When the computer's video card died and was replaced all the new one had was HDMI; I don't think they make VGA cards anymore.This adapter bridged the gap and the HDMI port on the card supplied power (yay!) so that was all I needed. 90 days later, it's still working.

We have 2 last screen computer monitors that we are not using. Now I am using one in my craft room. I did not know you could get something like this. Once I was told about I was got 1 was so excited that I could plug my fire stick and use the monitor like a TV in my craft room. We have no cable running in that room, so this works perfect.

Tried to use this with Chromecast to an LG TV, model 32LX4DCS. Unfortunately did not work, got "Invalid Signal" on screen.HDMI to DVI simple converter (without sound) worked, so was surprised that HDMI to VGA didn't. Can't be sure if it is the fault of this converter or the screen however, which is why I'm leaving 3 stars.Returned this and ended up getting an HDMI to RCA converter for about the same price that is working flawlessly so far!
