Coco & Olive: The Color of Love

There's an old saying that says all that we need to know in life we learned in kindergarten. That may be true with one small caveat. All that we need to know we learned in the children's books we read as kids. And this one is one that all children need to read. In a world where we unite as one beautiful human species, I am excited to share this book with my children and their children, as well.

An adorable story not only about adoption but about love between a child and a parent. If you're a parent, or love dogs, or love stories that warm your heart, this is the book to add to your collection.

This book gives us a look at the inside of international adoption. The overall theme is love that shows no boundaries. The book is colorful and attractive to people both young and old. I ordered a copy for myself and I am now ordering a copy for my best friend who just adopted a little girl from China. Thank you Michelle Madrid-Branch and Erin Darling for your beautiful depiction of love and adoption!

Beautiful illustrations! Coco and Olive is an adorable book that highlights the bond between an adoptive parent and child.

This is a short and simple read for young children. I found myself gently emotionally moved by the authentic love in its message. Even though it is about an adoption story, the message holds true for any child, adopted or otherwise. The positivity towards diversity is another theme I liked and is so needed in the world today!

This was not my favorite child's book, but it is OK>

Don't assume from the cover illustration of puppies and butterflies that this is merely didactic prose. Madrid-Branch and Darling have created powerful connections between circumstances and family bonds that will resonate with people who become families through a variety of means. There are lots of metaphors to appreciate here for domestic/international adoption, foster care, and families who simply identify as such through love and support. Children may also appreciate the use of dog illustrations to draw connections to pet adoption as yet another way to multiply family joy.

I enjoyed this children's book. Good message about adopting, beautifully illustrated pictures of dogs used in the story.

My son and me had great joy reading Coco and Olive. I highly recommend whether adopted or not a beautiful illustrated children’s book and story of mother and daughter - full of love and abundance.
