My first pen-tablet: Awful installation but I figured it out
UPDATE: This product causes endless frustration. I rarely use it but I now have a need for it. I connected the tablet but the pen does nothing. After much tapping and clicking and swiping the pen with a brand-new battery, it suddenly decides to turn on. I practice for a while on the Pen Pressure Test until the whole thing freezes and refuses to reatart. I re-downloaded the software and began again. The tablet seems to connect fairly easily once I reinstalled, but the pen is just a nightmare. You're supposed to click it on and just tap it somewhere to wake it up. Again, I tap, I click, I do everything I can to connect. Sometimes it will spontaneously and inexplicably start working, but if I put it down again, good luck getting it to turn on again without more tap-click-repeat.Also, pen sensitivity does NOT work in Sketchbook, although some people claim they were able to get it working, I did not. That is the program I wanted to use, so I guess I'm back to the drawing board, pun intended.I originally said I liked the setting that allows me to use both of my monitors. Problem: It has never worked. Also, my computer is running out of USB inputs and that is the only way to connect.ORIGINAL REVIEW:The Windows instruction booklet is awful. If the CD didn't come with a manual, I would still be scratching my head, and perhaps sending it back. But I followed the CD's user manual and managed to get it working. At first I found the movements wild and hard to control. It's much harder to use the pen as a cursor and navigate screens and windows than to use it in a drawing program. I am still trying to get the hang of it. You hover the pen over the tablet to move the cursor, then touch it down to begin drawing or to click on a button. There are two buttons on the pen and three on the tablet that you can program for a number of options, such as right-clicking or erasing. I haven't gotten proficient enough with my control to actually benefit from these, but they do seem to work.I've been using it in Microsoft's OneNote app, which lets me create shapes and math symbols easily. For example in the Draw mode, click Ink to Shape, and when you draw a square freehand, it straightens out the lines and angles so it's a nice neat square. You can also do that with math, and write out a formula using shapes like an integral sign, click when you're done, and voila, you have a professional looking expression. However, in OneNote, Ink to Text is grayed out, and I'm not sure why, but that's not the problem of the pen.One worry I had was that I write too faintly for the pen. In the pen's settings, you can test the pressure sensitivity. I tried writing something and was aghast that my normal pen pressure (very light) was effectively invisible. I was afraid that I would have to press really hard to make readable text, which could create stress in my hand. However, once I got into OneNote, I saw that it depends on the pen or brush that you're using. When I use a wide enough pen, my light touch is just fine.I haven't put in all a lot of hours yet, but I am satisfied that this product will be suitable for my need, which mostly was to be able to write in a white-board setting with better results than using a mouse. The tablet is a bit small and I have to practice getting the pen in the right spot, but the technology is working. I often use dual monitors and I like that I can use it in either, or limit the screen to just one monitor.

Good starter tablet
It works good, the accuracy isn’t too great when tilting the pen, and the software for changing the settings isn’t that great either.

Huion H420 is a great, sleek mouse replacement at a low price!
I'm an experienced graphic tablet user, familiar with Wacom Graphire. I don't use them for art or any other particular purpose; only as a mouse alternative. I find the pen hand position eliminates my carpal tunnel pain. I decided to try the Huion because the price is much lower, and because for my purpose the small size is a big advantage. It is an excellent tablet for the money. The driver disk didn't work for me. It might have been that I plugged the tablet in before running it, or it might have been my CD drive acting up. The driver URL in the printed material was not found. However, searched the internet and found the driver. The Huion website has a number of product pages with bad links for the drivers, so keep trying until you find it. The tablet will work without the driver, but you need it to configure the buttons on the pen and the express buttons on the tablet. I configured the pen's first button as right click, and the second button as the mouse middle button (which allows auto-scroll). The driver doesn't provide an option to configure the second button as a double-click, which is what I'm used to. This is the only downside I found to the H420, and it is no biggie. You can double-click by double tapping the pen on the tablet. There are three express buttons on the tablet that are easily configurable to perform any hotkey combination (Ctrl, Alt, Shift, plus any letter, number, PF key, etc.). I configure mine to Save (Ctrl+S), Close (Alt+F4), and Home (no hotkey needed, predefined). The pen requires a AAA battery, which is a difference from the Wacoms and some other tablets. There is a clicker at the end of the pen that turns it on and off to save the battery when the pen is not in use. This is very easy. You can tell if the pen is on simply by tapping it on the tablet, and a green led on the tablet will flash. Don't worry about forgetting to turn the pen off. The battery lasts a long time. The pen has no eraser end like the Wacom, but I never used that feature. The tablet attaches to the computer via USB. The tablet comes with a great kit of stuff. The wool sleeve is great for taking it with you. It doesn't come with a holder in which to park the pen when not in use. To me, this is essential so you can grab the pen without taking your eyes off of the screen. I'm using the holder that came with a Graphire that since died. The hot area on the tablet comes very close to the edge of the tablet's right and bottom edges (the hot area is indicated with faint corner markings). At first, it was hard to find the bottom-right corner, but I now easily find it by touch. After installing the driver, the on-screen/touch-screen keyboard began to display. It hides just off the edge of the viewable area in the top-left corner. It would pop out, and get in the way when I went for the browser back button. I turned it off by clicking options on the pop-up keyboard. Snap to Edge may have become a little trickier to use, but I've learned to use it also with no issues. The Huion H420 is a great mouse replacement at a great low price. Just be aware that any new graphic tablet will require some adjustment and a learning curve.

broke after a week
Pen fell from my desk and stopped working due to it being cheap. However, worked alright but the size is just a bit too small.

Fantastic product for the money - a must buy for new digital artists!
For the last year, I've been learning how to draw, and have only tried drawing digitally in the past a few times with some old and cheap tablets. Those experiences made me weary of buying or using a tablet that wasn't from a brand like Wacom, and was priced cheaply - but that's changed since using this product. The H420 worked instantly with my laptop, without installing its drivers. However, the pen's pressure sensitivity wasn't recognised until I installed the driver, which I did from Huion's website, but you could also do from the disc that arrives with the tablet.I tried out the tablet on paint tools sai, and it worked amazingly. I've had difficulties with an old wacom tablet working with its pressure sensitivity within sai, which is why I chose to buy this instead, but I was so pleasantly surprised that I had no issues in that area. This tablet was almost half the price of the one I was looking at to buy previously, and you also get a cute case, little cleaning products, a glove so when you lean on the tablet you don't accidentally cause any drawing to be made, and the USB cable and installation disc. I haven't seen many other tablets that come with these accessories, so you're really getting a lot for your money! My only cons would be that the pen takes a battery, which is new to me, (a triple a battery is included within the box) and that the tablet size itself is fairly small. If you are fairly new to digital illustration like myself, then the size shouldn't matter. Once you're making gorgeous digital art, then you should consider upgrading, but for those who want to start taking your art seriously but still have a lot to learn, this is the tablet for you!I come from a music background and always advocate making the best of what you have. Buying the most expensive equipment won't make you the best artist.Consider saving a lot of money by buying this either for yourself - or a family member or friend who wants to give digital drawing a go.I'm really excited to get started!

Great Budget Starting Point
I purchased this product to aid with fast photo editing and creative drawings on my PC and laptop. My sister is a freelance graphic designer who uses drawing tablets on a daily basis for work, however I would not need the more expensive tablets while starting out. The prices vary considerably and I just wanted something simple to learn the basics so for the price I thought it would be worth a shot.It comes packaged neatly with a storage case, pen and cleaning kit included at no extra cost and the all important USB lead to power the tablet. A battery is also included so that you may use the pen straight away and get going.Installing the tablet to my PC was easy enough, just plug and play. It replaces the mouse initially and when you open up a creative app it comes into its own.For a beginner I love the pressure sensitivity aspect of this device allowing for more creative control over drawings or edits on photos hop or light room.I am yet to work out the programmable buttons on the tablet but for what I paid I would be happy with the functionality I already have. For good measure and in the interest of fairness I asked my sister to knock up a drawing on the tablet and let me know what she thought. There is a difference in sensitivity compared to a Wacom tablet, however a slight adjustment later and she was able to put together a piece similar to what she creates on her £1200 setup. For the review I used the tablet with my 7 year old Zoostorm mini PC with no updates as yet. Using a higher powered machine may change results for you, I could only imagine for the better.
