Outstanding Value and Playability
I am reviewing this based on the value and quality for the price range. Amazon delivered this ahead of schedule and it was double boxed and arrived in perfect condition- even the boxes were in great shape....so high marks to Amazon. The ESP factory packing was very good too and this came with no case, which I knew. So, the guitar is pretty ugly and basically for metal heads, but i knew that so no knock on any of that. I wanted this guitar because it has a great neck shape, it is light and balanced and for the EMGs. I never played a V style so I thought it would be fun...and it is. Ive been fiddling for 40 years and am not finicky about setup and minutia details....that said, this guitar was setup so very nicely and was in tune and played fantastic right out of the box. The fit and finish are as good as they could possibly be, the weight and balance is awesome for standing and practicing for hours - which is why i bought it. The cable connection and way it hangs is also great. I am very satisfied with this guitar...it will be for home practice, not gigging as it looks sorta funny on this 55 year old, but a great great guitar at the price and highly recommended. Only thing i will do is use it as a guinea pig for floyd upgrades like higher mass block, TI string inserts and stainless screws...if that is worth it i will do the same on my giggers.

Shred machine without too much $
This is my 1st ESP guitar and it plays awesome. I build guitar kits as a hobby yet sometimes you just want something cool. Definitely a great add to my collection.

Excellent Shredder for the Money!
The Arrow-401 is an excellent mid-level electric guitar. Arrows are very easy to play and that makes learning easy. Once the FR bridge is balanced properly with the correct tremolo springs, it's keeps tune pretty well. I have both the Arrow-200 and Arrow-401. I love them both but the active EMGs of the 401 sets it apart from the passive ESP inspired pickups of the Arrow-200. I have encountered some quality control issues with all the ESP LTD guitars I own. It's usually something simple to fix (or have fixed by a qualified luthier) but it's still annoying to pay upwards of $1500 for a guitar with obvious QC issues that should have been corrected before it was boxed. The inspection stickers on all the ESP LTD guitars are meaningless. And unfortunately, the Arrow-401 has been discontinued. So get yourself one before they are gone or snag a lightly used one. Note: Swapping active pickups, especially EMGs, are easy with the 401. If not for the QC issues, the 401 would get 5 stars. It's my go to guitar.
