Letters to a Young Sister: DeFINE Your Destiny

I ordered this book because I heard Hill Harper on the radio promoting his NEW book. I went on Amazon to pre-order The Conversation & I saw Letters to a Young Sister & Letters to a Young Brother. A friend said she had read both & they were good, so I sent a copy to my little cousins (ages 15 & 19), both of whom thoroughly enjoyed it & couldn't put it down! I think all young women could benefit from reading this book, not just a "sistah!" If you know anyone who is young and impressionable or perhaps you are wondering how to start some conversations, I would highly recommend reading the book together. I'm 29, and I found it both helpful & enlightening. The only drawback I really found was that it seems like there is a lot of name-dropping in the book. Apparently Hill Harper knows A LOT of people--FAMOUS PEOPLE! I don't think that will be an issue for younger readers, though.

Hill Harper is a wonderful role model for young people. He was raised well giving back to his community helping others succeed. I purchased this book for my daughter when she graduated from HS. She just graduated from Mills College with a BS. She decided to return to College to get her Master's in Social Work. This book guided her in the right direction. My niece just graduated from HS and got her this book.

I bought this book for my Goddaughter to add to her book collection. She is 13 and thought it was an informative book.

I love his writing style and the fact that the book is really written as letters to a young girl who is trying to find herself and become comfortable in her own skin. He also has inspirational leaders responding to letters. And the responses are not the cliche "if you believe you can achieve". They really get into it and share some of their own life experiences to show how they overcame obstacles or feelings of inadequacy. Great Book! I haven't finished it yet and that's why I've given it 4 stars instead of 5.

Letters to a young sister is an excellent manual for female readers of all ages. While its target audience is pre-teens and teenagers, I would recommend it for any woman who is dating or who has a daughter who is approaching her teenage years. Hill's wisdom and insights are relevant and poignant. As an attorney for abused and neglected children most of whom are teenagers,, I have purchased this book for my clients and will be distributing the book to them. My hope is that the book will impact their lives as much as it has impacted mine. The male comparision is also good for young men!!

I originally got this book for my teenaged sister, but ended up reading it all the way through, not expecting it to resonate with me so much! I'm glad I read it. It has so much powerful advice from so many people I admire. I recommend this book to any one, any woman looking to be inspired again.

I HAVE HEARD SO MUCH ABOUT THIS BOOK AND I CAN NOT WAIT TO READ IT.

Must read for young and older women. It adds perspective from a man's point of view as well as other mature women. Great tool for mentoring others with practical and timely advice.

This book is fantastic. It covers all different issues young females go through such as self esteem, money, education, dating and explains them in a way everyone can understand. There are also views from other people such as Michelle Obama on these different issues so that young females can understand them from different perspectives. This book is fantastic for anyone who needs advice on these different issues. Amazing book well worth buying.

Hill harper happens to be one of my favourite Actors but because l had already purchased his first book called " The wealth Cure" where he gives financial advice from his point of view and which l found helpful. l loved the advice he gives to young Black women.

The book serves a good purpose but it drags on a bit. Not really a page turner but its quite inspiring. Good delivery service though.
