OK for lunches, but quite good as a therapeutic ice pack
FOR LUNCHES (3 stars): The size of these packs are nice for the bottom of a small lunchbox cooler and the flexibility is nice to have, but for the price I am not all that impressed. They stayed pretty solid in my REI personal cooler (an extremely well insulated cooler) for a couple of hours in a 70 degree room and stayed cold enough so that my lunch wouldn't be warm about 4 hours after packing it. I guess for my everyday lunchbox purposes it's fine. I would not, however, be all that pleased if I had to rely on this for more than 5 hours or so of continuous cold or if the cooler was in a very warm environment. Construction-wise they seem to be pretty solidly made and should last if used with care. This is most definitely a product to help keep cool an already cold item - if your soda/beer/water is already at room temperature use of these will NOT bring it to a nice drinking temperature.AS AN ICE PACK (5 stars): I finally found a great use for this product as an ice pack for pain/inflammation relief. Because the ice pack is broken into 9 separate sections it works well to largely conform to the area you want iced. I use mine for tennis elbow and use the otherwise useless tennis elbow therapy band to hold it in place over my clothing (never directly against the skin). You could also use a properly wrapped ace bandage to hold it in place. Used this way it lasts about 90 minutes or so and it's nice to have the pack of 2. Before discovering this use I wasn't overly impressed with this as a food cooling product so I'm glad I found other ways to use this and able to edit and raise my star rating.

Keeps my insulated lunch box cool
This product does a great job keeping things in an insulated box cool for a couple-few hours. They are a little on the small size, longer than a sandwich bag full of ice, but not as wide or thick. There is almost no condensation that gets on the outside of these things. From what I can tell, they freeze fairly quickly. However, they do not hold their cool for as long as I had hoped. They still work perfectly for my lunch that I eat 3-4 hours after putting it in the lunch box, but does not stay as cool as a sandwich bag of ice. If you are planning on buying these for a lunch box or something small and don't require it to stay cool for more than a few hours, than I would definitely suggest grabbing them. At about $10, they do what they are supposed to. However, if you plan on using these to cool a larger cooler, or store stuff for a prolonged period of time, I'd suggest another product.

Does the Job
Bought these for my son's school lunches and they seem to work just fine. They even are a little bit cool at the end of the day. The pouches do get frozen hard (vs. the gel-like ice packs), but because they are in their own compartments, they can conform to the contraints of your lunch box and have worked quite well in the child-size lunch box we are using.A small word of warning - My son thought they were mini Otter Pops/popcycles, which is a bit concerning. Fortunately, he is now able to read, so he read the warning that says not to eat them, but if you have a toddler/pre-school age child, I probably wouldn't buy these because they really do look like little mini Otter Pops.

Flexible but they don't last long
They are very flexible and easy to fit in my lunch box. When I use two of them together they keep my lunchbox cold until lunch (lunchbox stored indoors). But I don't think they would work if I kept my lunch box outdoors in the heat or if I needed my lunchbox to be cold all day.

as expected but thinner
I took off one star for price/valueOtherwise you get more or less what you expect. The mass of the cooler is lower than most so I anticipate poor performance in hot weather. Next time I will just go to Wall Mart

Great size for little one's lunchbox!
I ordered these for my son's Stephen Joseph lunchbox, and they fit perfectly in the upper pouch. Since they are rather thin, I use both of them each time. I cannot attest to the effectiveness of keeping his lunch cool since I am not at his preschool for lunchtime; however, the icepacks are still cool (not frozen) when I pick him up ~5 hrs later. All in all, I think it does the job!

Keeps stuff cold. Plastic isn't very thick.
I've used these about 6 times so far. They meet the important task of keeping my lunchbox food cold. They're a bit smaller and lighter than I had imagined, and the plastic is kind of thin, but in the small number of times I've used them I have not yet had a leak.

perfect for the need...
purchased for my husband to use in his lunchbox...they are not gel like filled, rather just like ice. but, he doesn't mind and they serve their purpose. love the option of being able to cut into smaller sizes. nice!
