ONLY FOR WHO COMPLETEISTS!
i have had various bootlegs on vinyl and cd of this gig for decades, sadly THIS WAS FILMED at the old PONTIAC STADIUM in DETROIT back in 1975 on the first leg of the who by numbers tour, also there exists about 40 minutes of this show PRO SHOT on film and i dont think it was EVER broadcast but i remember way back in 1982 when the maximum r&b book came out THAT WAS MENTIONED regarding this show. like the fillmore west show on november 20 1973 where keith passes out but i have over decades only seen little bits of that pro shot footage , that is the same case with THIS SHOW. even bootleggers have had a hard time getting there hands on the film. anyway what is annoying here is THIS IS FAR FROM THE WHOLE SHOW. this was also a soundboard recording but i do not know to this day if the tapes where destroyed or not becouse i have a japan boot of this gig that was pressed back in the 1990s and it contains only two more songs then THIS RELEASE but something got butchered up regarding this gig and the film of it as well. ever so often i hear that THIS PONTIAC stadium gig is going to come out on dvd like the LIVE IN TEXAS dvd did 5 or 6 years back but it never happens, as for the 73 gig at the fillmore west well? BILLY GRAHAMS estate owns that film so that is the problem regarding that film. this sounds ok but again ITS NOT THE WHOLE SHOW! & not soundboard. that tanglewood 1970 show is on dvd boot all over out there but this one almost so barley that i dont even have a copy and from what i have seen it is in pro shot poor quality. lets hope that becomes the next LIVE IN TEXAS 75 DVD as well as THE FILLMORE WEST 73 as that would be an awesome dvd, both where filmed in black and white. if we could get those two gigs on dvd in the same film condition as the 75 houston summit dvd we got 5 or 6 years back THAT WOULD BE PERFECT!!!! also what about some 60s euro t.v and the uk london 69 show that was filmed????? i have a boot dvd & audio two cd set of that as well, they just need to upgrade the film & sound. anyway i am still glad i bought this..i just wish this partial show was soundboard quality like i know it was recorded on..

Like Buses ...
Like buses, you wait forever and two come along at once. So here we have another USA radio broadcast of an old concert by The Who, hot on the heels of OLD ENGLAND, NEW ENGLAND. The performance by the group is as you would expect from the time, absolute perfection. The quality of this recording, however, while not as bad as other USA radio transmissions, is not as good as that of OLD ENGLAND, NEW ENGLAND from 1970. Roger Daltrey's voice is clear most of the time, while John Entwhistle's base stands out. There are a few negative points to consider before buying. First is that, if it is the complete radio broadcast, it is certainly not the complete concert as it starts with Pinball Wizard, halfway through Tommy. Second, the production is not seen as a live concert, but as separate tracks. Thus, between each track there is a sudden halt, a silence for a few seconds, then the next track starts. This is particularly irritating when the songs are part of a medley, as in the Join Together / Roadrunner / My Generation Blues sequence. Conclusion: What's there is okay...ish, buy it if you are a completist (like me) but if you only want one USA concert from The Who in the seventies, then go for OLD ENGLAND, NEW ENGLAND

Awful production
Never thought I would give a Who cd only 2 stars!! However I must emphasis it is nothing to do with the bands performance which is great as always, but everything to do with the dreadful sound quality and horrible editing of tracks!! This cd came out just after the excellent Old England, New England cd and the difference in quality is like night and day. Also how the record company can justify charging £11.69 for this cheaply packaged cd with barely any info on it is beyond me!! Unbelievably that is £1.69 dearer than the previously mentioned brilliant Old England, New England!! You know which one to choose!! Lol 😂, as a previous reviewer said this is one for the completists .....like me!!!

Rubbish!
Badly edited, gaps between live tracks, tracks split, Who fans will have some of these tracks already, and with better sound quality. Awful!!

Not a bad performance from the lads BUT poor editing with tracks ending abruptly,a two second gap then the next track starting (very annoying).i bought it because it is THE WHO.

Bon concert
La grande période des Who. Dommage que le son n'est pas top. D'où une étoile en moins.
