Solitary Bee Hive

I've had one of these for a couple of years and it's worked perfectly: inhabitants every summer.This year I bought another and it's already got 4 holes filled.Good value, well made, effective, recommended!

One of the best things I've ever bought. I got it late summer so March 2020 is the first year of it being out when the solitary bees emerge looking for nests (early spring) and within a week a bee in had laid eggs in one of the tunnels with the clear panel, in the photo. A few more holes are now filled and I see bees flying round it, fighting over it in the air and buzzing around the garden every day. Absolutely amazing to see the little pollen chambers and eggs. I did already have some solitary bee nests from a different shop (the hexagonal green plastic ones) and this works just as good but also looks beautiful in the garden and the viewing panel is brilliant. It needs placing in full sun, a dry south facing wall is ideal, and I chose a spot where I'd already seen a couple of solitary bees on the walls. Also plant plenty of spring flowering plants, I just have mine in containers: rosemary, Iris, forget me not, apple blossom, dandelion flowers, etc. And you'll soon notice lots of bees.

I don't know how much the bees will like it. It is adequate. There was a screw missing from its roof, which while structurally unnecessary was annoying. Also it is supposed to disassemble into layers by removal of 2 long bolts but there is a structural bit of wood on the back that screws directly into 2 of the layers ... so those will not come apart without further unscrewing.It is quite a lot of money for a few bits of drilled wood bolted together. I specially got this rather than a number of cheaper alternatives because they had bad reviews about build quality. It seems this expensive one is little better.

Bought this two years ago and thought i’d do another review. Last year we had leaf cutters using it and this year solitary bees! Excited that they’ve used the row you can view easily too this year, really good if you want to see them develop.

I'm not very impressed with this product:Firstly: you can't access the top 4 chambers to clean them and remove parasites. Cleaning is very important to stop the spread of disease, there is also evidence that bees prefer clean holes.Secondly - there are lots of sharp splinters in the holes which could be harmful for bees - I will have to sandpaper it before use.Thirdly: The blurb says there are different sized holes. As far as I can see, only the 4 holes at the top are a different size (bigger) the other 16 are all the same size.The only reason why I've given it 3 stars and decided not to return it is because I haven't found anything better. I think there's a gap in the market for a well designed solitary bee hive.

Very fascinating. We put ours 1.5 meters up on a fence post in a sunny position surrounded by new friendly plants. Nothing happened for weeks and we had so much rain but this week we have a Mason bee creating cells and laying larvae. I can't wait to watch them go through the stages and hopefully hatch and fly free next spring 🐝Not the cheapest purchase but the viewing screen is worth every penny and I've learned so much already.

I like everything about the beehive. Its a well made product. I like the fact that consideration has been given to the type of wood used. I also like the copper strip on the top of the roof. An improvement, if one was needed would be a whole copper roof that would protect the wood roof for longer, but that would make the product more expensive. Its so good I am going to buy another one as a present for a relative. Interesting now to see when the bees arrive.

Resistente, fatto per essere pulito al termine della stagione. Interessante il tetto apribile ce permette di spiare il lavoro delle api e l'avanzamento dei bozzoli a piacimento.Non aspettatevi che venga popolato senza l'acquisto dei singoli bozzoli o quanto meno di uno spray ai feromoni
