Quick and easy for beautiful glass etching
I used this cream for my first try at etching drinking glasses. I made 6 stencils of an intricate parrot using permanent vinyl that I cut out using a Cricut machine. It took more time to prep the decal and glass than it did to etch. I followed the instructions using isopropyl alcohol to wipe down the glass etching area before applying the decal. I also used painters tape to cover some of the exposed glass surrounding the decal. I put on disposable gloves and applied the cream with a cheap foam paint brush, covering the etching area very thick so I could not see the design. After 3 minutes, I scraped off the excess cream and put it back into the bottle then rinsed off the glass. The etching cream can be reused and it goes a long way.At first look, I did not think the etching worked but as I peeled off the decal, the parrot showed up beautifully. The lines were crisp and there were no flaws. This is was a fun and easy project. I donated the set of 6 glasses to a local parrot rescue.

Fun and different
I’ve done lots of sublimation and vinyl designs on glass, this was something fun and different to try. I made sure I prepped my area and covered my work surface with clean paper, layed out all my materials, and cut out my design in advance . I used vinyl and left enough around the etching area so that I wouldn’t need to tape anything, the vinyl was my cover for the unetched areas of my glass. I prepped the glass surface with rubbing alcohol before applying the design to remove any oils, dirt, or fingerprints. Once dry, I applied my design, put on protective gloves, and generously applied the Armour Etch cream and set my timer for 8 minutes. I re-applied some cream making sure there were no ‘bald’ spots and let it sit another 8 minutes. Once the time was up I put the excess Armour Etching cream back into the bottle and rinsed my glass off under tepid water. I removed the vinyl while still running water over the glass then wiped it dry. The effect is a frosted design. The cream doesn’t actually etch a groove into the glass but leave a pretty frosted effect. A few tips: wear gloves when working with etching cream. Make sure you have a large enough surface for you design choice. I was trying a shot glass and while the glass etched, my design ended up being too small to see because of the size of the glass. Buy a couple of dollar store pieces to practice on until you get good at sizing a design and timing your etching.

Works great
I’m using this to itch glass artwork. It’s easy to spread and itches the glass so much easier than itching with a mechanical device.

Clumpy
I was really excited to use this but I keep getting patches that are “unetched”, even with thorough product saturation. It does the job but only after at least two applications.
