Easy to use
I left the box in the van for the week. It was 77 degrees outside when I used this material. It must have been the right temperature because it was very soft and easy to work with. I had followed the instructions and cleaned the van surfaces the day before. I was able to cut it easily with the knife that came with the kit. It rolls out easily with the roller too. I discovered that if I got an air bubble, all i had to do was slice it with the knife and run the roller over it. I have used 2 whole rolls on my 3500 Extended High Roof Promaster.

Noise be gone, FatMat's here
Ok - so you re wondering if FatMat can do what Dynamat or many other products in this category can. And the answer is yes. It works great on a car - doors, trunk, floor, behind the dash, etc. It is not an insulation panel to mount on walls of a home nor is it intended for any use inside the home (unless you've thought of a way to use this somewhere I have not). 25 sq ft was not enough to do the entire interior of a car - 50 sq ft was more than enough to cover all of the interior (except the trunk). The net benefits of the install was a much quieter ride inside the convertible it was used in - although (caveat coming), I topped the FatMat with some thick sticky HVAC insulation material, some roofing product with the same rubbery base, with some closed cell foam and last but not least, a layer of carpet underlayment with a moisture barrier (all on the floor of the car - remainder of interior was FatMat only). The kit (blade and roller) come in very handy to finish install in a jiffy. It is huge amount of work in most cases if you are completely re-doing an interior like I was but if someone is just looking to re-do a set of doors or a simple floor install - this is simple to use. I did use a heat gun to make the product pliable so I could cut and shape and wedge into some of the tight corners inside a car. Thankfully - had almost zero interior to work with. All in all - highly recommend this product (in combination with some of the others mentioned in the review - all Lowe's or Home Depot stuff).

Great stuff...I need to buy more!
This was the first time I ever tried sound dampening material. Decent price, easy to cut, easy to install, and does its job. No signs of bad smell as some have reported. No signs of melting (yet) or not sticking as some have reported. Razor blade works fine, and roller worked fine. 10 square feet was enough for two full door panels. Now, this stuff has a few different applications. I used it for the most common one which was dampening my doors while I was installing new speakers (6.5”). I had a bad rattle with the stock speakers (even with bass blockers) and I thought it was just the speaker vibrating against the door panel. I removed the door panel and tested the speaker, and found that the entire speaker was actually vibrating the sheet metal of the door on deeper notes.I put 2 layers of FatMat inside the door cavity (inside the speaker cut-out, behind speaker magnet). I put a single layer on the actual door behind the panel. It was easy cutting out the area out for the door handle, speaker wires, and speaker hole. I took a few extra scraps and did a 2nd layer around the outside of the speaker hole.Admittedly, the after-test was done with FatMat and new speakers, so it is tough to determine how much is from FatMat and how much is from a better speaker, but it definitely killed the rattle noise. Speakers sounded great and there was no rattling at all, no matter the depth of the bass (still using bass blockers). The door felt and sounded much more solid when closing it. I was absolutely surprised at how much of a difference it made. The speakers sounded very full, as if they were mounted in a sealed box, and I believe the FatMat is responsible for that.

Great sound proofing for your car.
This kit gave me enough to get all four doors and my spare tire well done on my Subaru XV. The product adds just the right amount of sound proofing to let your stereo sound it's best, without adding a massive weight. The doors now sound more solid when being closed. I have all my speakers baffled, so I didn't think that the matting would make too much difference to the sound of the stereo, well......I was wrong! The sound from my system(Kenwood head unit, Polk Audio speakers, Alpine sub.)is Much more focused and clear. I also don't need to turn up the volume as loud now(but still do because of the ether sound). If you are on the fence about doing a project like this, go for it, you will not regret the time it takes, it's worth every minute and penny. The matting is easy to cut and work with. Just a side note, I did the job in 70 degree weather and used a hair dryer on high to get the product to adhere better to the door. I installed a Borla exhaust, doing the spare tire well did help with the noise level in the cabin.

.
I bought this back in 2012 but didn't get around to installing it until 2015. I had even left it sit in a hot car and thought I may have ruined the adhesive. But with the use of a heat gun, I was able to apply it vertically on my door without a problem. It also cuts easily and was easy to apply. There was never any smell to it, even with the windows closed on a hot day.One roll of this was actually two pieces that are 5 sq.ft. each. As I have very long 3rd gen Camaro doors, I wish it had been about 4 inches longer, but that's my own fault. The height was perfect, and I think it ended up being just fine with the length I got.I haven't used any other sound deadening materials to compare it to, and I did perform a number of other sound control issues at the same time (replaced squeaky handle, tightened up loose lock rods, greased window tracks, replaced window felt and door seal, replaced hinges), but I can say that this door is now significantly quieter than the passenger side. Even passengers now ask when I'm going to fix the other door so it will sound the same, as the driver side has that new car thud without the rattles.
