Works well and keeps dust down
I bought this to refinish our kitchen cabinets, because hand sanding would have been almost impossible to finish.I probably spent about 8 cumulative hours sanding with this, and it works great. I was tasked with removing 2 lairs of paint and 1 layer of polyurethane, and 1 layer of stain from our cabinets. Worked like a charm without doing any damage to the wood. This is an excellent sander, and it's pretty easy to change the paper out once you get the hang of how it's mounted. This is a bit heavy to use if you have to sand things vertically (ie. Cabinet framing mounted to a wall), but it'll do the job.One of the best features if the dust collection port. I hooked this up to a dewalt portable shop-vac that plugged right into the dust collection port. This dramatically reduced the dust generated by the job.Ultimately if you have a crap ton of sanding that needs to be done, this more than pays for itself in the time and pain you will save, and you'll have it for future projects.

Very high quality!
Works great, very high quality, and gets my sanding projects done in record time. The grip is perfect size for me feels great in my hand easy to hold on too. Hand numbness and tingling is reduced after long sessions. I haven't used the dust collector bag very much I find it gets more in the way. However I do enjoy everything else about it.

BEST SANDER I EVER OWNED
An excellent well made sander. Easy to load paper, stays secure and sandpaper stays in place. Has the option of hooking up a vacuum cleaner to draw up dust. FAST and gets the job done. Makes a project or job perform smoother. Lightweight and pretty easy to control, however, only 4 stars, "because it could use a handle in the back or on the sides" Maybe one that can be screwed on so you can switch the (extra control support) handle from left to right or no handle. Would I buy this again? MOST DEFINITELY!

I'd use them both for hours straight and although they'd get warm neither acted like they had any issues handling business
Can't beat this palm sander for the price. I used and abused this sanding all my cabinets along w/ a Dewalt random orbit sander for the harder to reach stuff. I'd use them both for hours straight and although they'd get warm neither acted like they had any issues handling business. My ONLY two issues w/ both are more suggestions than complaints. The bag that catches the dust doesn't catch it all. I used a cheap Black & Decker mouse sander that had an enclosed plastic sawdust catcher that didn't let anything escape. Maybe Dewalt decided not to use this because it'd cause issue w/ overheating? You know somebody wouldn't empty it and complain the unit caught fire over their own stupidity. Secondly is the base that the sand paper attaches to on the bottom is made out of a tough rubber. While maybe they have good reason for this long periods of sanding will cause the sandpaper to get hot and actually adhere to the rubber. Then when you pull off the sandpaper it takes chunks of rubber with it. By the time I was done sanding w/ my palm sander I had to replace the bottom rubber piece due to this. I also avoid buying the "extra adhesive" 3M sandpaper now because although it sticks well to your average sander it'll become glued to this one if you sand to long. Buy the sandpaper that doesn't have the waxy backing to avoid this issue.

Power switch
I've had the sander for a month, or so now, and used it several times.. Works good..I would be giving it five stars, except for a single occasion with the power switch.. I sat it down with the switch off, and left my garage/shop.. A while later, I walked outside, and heard a strange noise.. When I went into the garage, this sander was running.. There was a small piece of metal under it, so it stayed in one place.. It had actually started a fire.. No real flame yet, but smoke, and my workbench was charred in the spot where that bit of metal was.. Now, I don't ever leave it even plugged in.. I almost returned it, but decided that I would use more care, and keep it.. The switch is kind of funny.. Not a clear step between one, and zero.. Other than that, it works fine..Wm Arett..

This should easily be the best designed sander ever
This should easily be the best designed sander ever. I mean this thing sucks up most of it's own dust. And it's fast too. I had an older dewalt Which sold fro $20.00 about 30 years ago. It was a good sander. I must have dropped it a thousand times but it kept on running until finally it had enough. However the new one is much faster, more powerful and even smoother and quieter. Love is the right word. If you are using it on wood or automotive, it doesn't matter.

Good working sander
This sander was ordered for my brother because I had an older Dewalt sander that I really liked. The sandpaper is fairly easily attached and is simply a quarter sheet of standard size sandpaper. The one caution that I would give is to really be holding on to the sander when it is turned on because it produces quite a bit of torque and tends to try to spin around. Be sure to use the included hole punching plate to poke holes in the sandpaper to allow the dust bag to collect the dust.

Simple and easy to use
The sander is good quality for the price. It's very easy to use and fits comfortably in the hand. My only issue with the sander is the ON/OFF switch. The switch has a dustproof cover that seems to prevent the switch from being operated easily. Overall, this is a product I would recommend.

many years of excellent service, I began by looking for the same ...
As with DeWalt tools in general this little weapon is an absolute gem. Bought to replace a Makita that had given many, many years of excellent service, I began by looking for the same model, but, seeing the price of this one, I thought I would treat myself. I couldn't be more satisfied. Relatively quiet, fairly light compared to some others, but best of all, very little vibration. This makes it easier to use than most, when in action for long periods of time. The clamps are more than strong enough to hold the glass-paper in place, another plus, obtaining an excellent finish rapidly is a simple matter. All in all, a wise choice, and money well spent. Highly recommended.

Excelente compra y muy recomendable
Dewalt siempre ha sido calidad garantizada, sin embargo en esta compra, aparte de la calidad del producto, se suma un excelente precio. La entrega en tiempo y la atención inmejorable.

I'm thinking of buying a second one...
A fantastic little sander. I tend to buy sand paper in rolls because it's much much cheaper than buying the ready cut ones with velcro. I have been using and abusing this sander but the clip mechanism still works with no problems. It comes with a piece of plastic that punches holes on the generic roll sandpaper to allow dust move in the bag. The little bag works very well and I like the metal spiral inside it that keeps it from collapsing. The power cord is very sturdy as well: a couple of times I really thought I cut it but it survived. Now I'm thinking of buying a second one as a backup and have different paper grade on each one for faster work.
