Fantastic TV and I did the research for you. Just buy it!!!
The Sony KDLW800B is an excellent TV. I am replacing my son's Panasonic Plasma Model TC-P42S2 which was also a great gaming TV, but heated up the entire room by at least 10 degrees and was a energy hog. I was hesitant to replace it because of the praise Plasmas get from all the gamer forums. Don't make that mistake! I was blown away by the beautiful picture and zero lag with Xbox One and sports. Movies also looked great, even better than my aging $2400 55" Samsung Touch of Color TV in my den which were super TVs and still are 7yrs later. I will probably be sorry For not ordering the Sony 55" in this model before they gone. Guess I should wait to see what Develops in 4K since it is not used for gaming. BTW, The model replacing this TV does not spec out higher or even close to this TV from what I have read and will cost you double the cash. If you need a TV this is the one - great price and quality. As for issues, none so far. I had no problems with update which was prompted to perform when plugged in hardwire to gig router. Smart apps all worked great and were very fast on mediacom 100mb service. I hear the 3D sxxcks, have not tried, but then I think all 3D sxxcks, so read elsewhere. I am a manage analyst who does research and studies for a living. Save yourself the week I spent researching this TV and just buy it. If mounting it on swing out arms or vesa you will need an mounting adapter which is hard to find. I finally located one at ABT.com for $53.00 and free shipping - Sony Model SU-WA1. I ordered the Videosecu ML531BE TV Wall Mount for most 22"-55" LED LCD Plasma Flat Screen - up to 88 lb VESA 400x400 mm with Full Motion Swivel Articulating Arm, 20 in Extension, for Monitor (Black) WP5e recommended by another review. TV is light and Vesa looks well built so this should work fine. Well that is about it except to mention Amazon Prime shipping was great for 1 day Fedex upgrade for $18 bucks. Oh yeah, I also recommend you purchase the sq trade 4 or 5 yr warranty just in case. Wayyyy cheaper than bestbuy and they have very good service reviews. Good bye now and good luck with your new purchase - no brainier at this price. Or you could spend many many hours reading AVS forums like me and then buy it. 😵 Assuming Amazon still has one!

Great PQ, Nice conservative look, a great buy for the price!
I get quite obsessed when researching big purchases and this was one of them. This is my 3rd TV (2nd Sony) and so far, it's performing the way I expect a Sony to. The TV is thin with a thin border around it. The HDMI sockets are pretty easy to access being positioned on the side. this will be particularly useful if you plan to wall mount it. Apparently the tv stand can be used as a wall mount as well, which is a nice little saving if you're planning to place it on the wall. Setup was easy and straight forward. There are a lot of apps on the store which is great. The remote layout is simple responsive. PQ is great as documented in the numerous reviews I read. For the price bracket, it beats the equivalent Samsung hands down.Things I don't like. The smart TV features are slow, to the point where i'm more inclined to use the on demand services on it. Apparently the 3D performance is terrible, but this is not a big problem for me (If you're a 3D fan, I suggest trying something else based on user feedback) Nothing else at this point, but we'll see. The TV has Miracast, a function that lets you mirror what is on your computer to the TV (like Apple's Airplay), which is useless to me as Apple devices are not supported. This isn't as much a problem with the TV as with Apple, but if you're going to tempt people with this feature, make sure you cater for the Apple crowd too!Overall, I'm very pleased with the purchase of this TV, especially for the price I got. I don't chase the latest features so happy to have taken this before the new model is released. I just hope that the Sony reliability I experienced with my last TV (7 years and still going strong) occurs with this one as previous device reliability is a key determinant of my purchase.

Great after an initial setup hiccup
I purchased this TV by reading reviews on Amazon and Best Buy. I trusted the 'Sony' brand and also the price -$899 was within my budget for a 55' TV. Out of the box the size and beauty of this TV is breathtaking. The slim bezel and the thickness of the tv is very elegant. I was super impressed. I set up everything and plugged it in. It started with the setup page and everything went fine with me setting up wifi in 2-5 minutes. I was all set to launch the youtube or Netflix app. But it asked for an software upgrade, I thought lets get it done and selected 'yes'. oh boy was that a very bad idea. The TV first re-started and with that the black n white blur thing(I used to see this several years back when we used to lose cable connection) came up and said 'no input found, please select an input'. I tried pressing the 'input' button, no response. tried power off, no response. tried to shut down using physical button on back of the tv, no response. I unplugged it and plugged back in, same thing happened repeatedly. My worst fears of taking a wrong decision started coming true and I was tensed. I chatted with Sony representatives, they gave few links but identifying the issue, but could not rectify it.. then spoke to a Sony representative on the phone and tried to rectify it, no use. I was so frustrated after 2 hours of getting it set up that I lost hope and gave up. I had my lunch and spoke to 'Electronic Express' my seller to schedule a pick up to return the TV. She was very kind, and scheduled the pick up with no questions asked. After that I started searching online as a last resort. found correct in 10 seconds a video explaining the issue and the correct way to do it. Finally after couple of attempts to 'reset' the TV, I was able to get the TV back to its factory settings. Now while setting it up, I selected 'No automatic updates' because I read in one of the forums that the new update from Sony was filled with bugs which could screw the TV and its internet connectivity. I use only 'internet' to use the TV so I was a bit concerned. But now the TV worked just fine. After 2 hours of multiple attempts I was able to set it up successfully and that's the reason I knocked off a star.Once the TV was set up, the beauty of output is just awesome. I watched several HD trailers of movies like 'the force awakens', 'Jurassic World' etc.. and the experience was great. The depths is color, the sound output was excellent. Overall a very good tv except for that hiccup while setting it up. I need to check out the 3D experience. I will buy the Avatar 3D or Spider-man 2 blue ray and then test it out.
