Storage Galore -- Worth every penny to this demanding doctorate student.
I am a doctorate student and I purchased this bag so that I could haul my giant Chemistry, Biology, and Physics texts with me. I saw in reviews that some people had trouble making their books fit, but I thought I'd give it a chance anyway. And I'm glad I did!! My wide 3-ring binders don't fit as well in the VERY back due to the wheel wells, but they fit fine if they're in front of another standard-size text. I measured, and the very back two inches of the backpack have about 10.5" between the wheel wells, but farther forward through the rest of the space can accommodate up to 14". I can carry two thick texts and two binders in the main compartment with a lot of space above them (in rolling position) to store a packed lunch. My 17" Lenovo laptop fits great in the laptop compartment along with its bulky power cord, a day planner, and a box of granola bars in case I get stranded on campus without a lunch. (cafeteria food is so expensive!) The little top zippered compartment fits my reading glasses in a hard case and my lab safety glasses/goggles nicely. The lower outside zippered compartment holds my clutch (aka a zippered wallet, for the guys), my cell phone, my keys, and a 5-star zippered pouch with pens, pencils, protractor, etc. The two side pouches are very roomy, but can encroach on the larger compartment space inside if you jam them full. I can fit a change purse and my 16oz water bottle into one of these completely and zip it closed when the main compartment is full. None of the zippers get hung up or have broken in the six months I have used it. My parking space is a half mile from my class building; I've dragged this bag behind me back and forth from my car to class every day, sometimes twice a day, M-F all through the spring semester and the wheels are still rolling smoothly. I have dragged it through shallow snow/slush/salt during those trips - the interior stayed dry and the exterior has not become damaged. I've only ventured to roll it through the pouring rain a couple of times, but from those experiences I can say that everything inside the bag stayed dry. I will say that the bag is not very comfortable to carry on my back for very long. It's extremely useful to have those straps for between classes when the hallways are jammed with people, or during the winter when I don't want to drag it through a foot of snow, but the bars of the rolling handle and the wheels both dig into my back after a while... It probably would not be so uncomfortable if I didn't have SO much heavy stuff packed into it. The straps are easy to get out and put away - I leave the very top of the strap compartment unzipped all the time so I can easily open one side and slide out a single shoulder strap to use on stairways and crowded hallways. Oh, and the top handle is holding up great as well - I use it over and over to haul the bag into and out of my car, up curbs, short sets of stairs, etc, and NONE of the stitching is coming undone or stretching. And I really think that's saying a lot, because I just weighed it "full" with my standard gear listed above and it weighs 45lbs! Overall, I love this bag and I'm incredibly satisfied with my purchase. I hope it continues to stand up to the demands I put on it for the next four years as well! UPDATE: After three years of rugged use and banging it down stairs and off curbs behind me, the wheel axle became bent and the wheels started to become off-kilter and squeaky. The bag remained every bit as durable otherwise, but everyone could hear me coming a mile away! Instead of contacting the company for repair/replacement, we just purchased another - the same make and model - and the new one has lived up to its predecessor.

Highly recommend!
An absolute lifesaver for heavy loads! The multiple compartments keep everything organized, the padded laptop sleeve is top-notch. The telescoping handle works great, the wheels glide effortlessly, and the overall quality is impressive. Highly recommend for travel or daily commuting!

Wonderful Bag, easy to transform, full of compartments and pockets for organization
I love this bag. I replaced an old wheeled backpack that I had purchased at a leather store. This one was more expensive, but after 1 1/2 weeks of use, it's worth every penny... It is the size of a large backpack and the handle has 3 height settings, plus can be put away and zipped into a pocket. There is a fabric handle as well, so you don't have to use the pull handle to lift. It is easy to switch to a backpack. It has a nice front pocket with inside slots to put pens and such. The next compartment is a laptop bag with a laptop pad and room to include other things like a 9X12 notepad or a cooling pad, and the laptop charger and anything else, like maybe a portable keyboard. The biggest compartment holds lots of stuff. You could put a set of overnight clothes, etc. in this compartment with toiletries, etc. I use it as my briefcase and include notbeooks, a portable desk set in a bag that holds pens, sticky notes, etc., a headset with microphone, etc. with room to spare. The two side pockets are a nice size for extras. On top of all of these awesome compartments, this bag is waterproof. I life on the West Coast where it rains a lot, so this is a big plus. One of the nicest things about this bag is how easy it is to pull. I replaced a bag with this one that had "inline skate" wheels and it had a drag on it and was hard to pull, especially in the end when one of the wheels fell off. These wheels are set in such as way as the bag just travels right along with ease. The pull handle is also easy to set up and down in the different settings with a simple push on the button.

Impressed over the competitor
Thanks to Amazon.com's Free Return policy for "select" clothing, shoes, and luggage, I was able to purchase my top 2 choices in rolling backpacks and see which one would work better. I narrowed it down to the JanSport Driver 8 and the High Sierra Powerglide, hoping one would work and then I could return the other. The JanSport was a decent backpack but had its drawbacks, so the High Sierra was the clear winner for comfort and a few other bells and whistles. Pros: Has all the necessary components, ample room, nice gliding wheels, laptop sleeve in the middle compartment, zip away telescoping handle, etc. - While I wasn't sure if the two side zippered compartments would really hold a water bottle, I was pleasantly surprised when it held my large water bottle (Contigo ~11" tall) snugly and then my insulated coffee mug (Contigo ~8.5" tall) completely zipped away. - I plan to use the backpack & rolling feature a lot during the day, and going back and forth between the two, so the straps are much larger and more comfortable than the JanSport and how they fold away is very simple and easy. The foldable velcro cover is also padded which gives a bit more comfort on the back. The straps are always attached compared to the clips on the JS. - Since this will be for business (wearing suits), I love the extra padded flap that covers the wheels. It's not a complete cover and might needs some adjusting, but a really great feature. - The carrying handle on the top is more padded and easier to hold than the JanSport. - The media compartment/headphone area makes a decent spot for keeping glasses protected. - Has a triangle clip for a myriad of uses. - Has a keys clip in the front compartment that is detachable. - I liked the front compartment that holds small items like pens, calculator, etc. much better than the JS. Cons: - The middle zippered compartment where the laptop sleeve is located is a bit small, but has room for the laptop plus files/binder. But in a way, it might be better to separate the laptop & cords in one compartment, versus keeping in the large area on the JanSport. - The media pocket with the hole for headphones was a bit of a joke and very hard to thread through, but I will never use this feature. - The zip away handle could be problematic and in the way. Also the zipper seems a little tight. Since this will be going on a airplane, I liked the zip-away feature, but I'm concerned this will be annoying or start to wear out. - Doesn't look like it will fit under the airline seat like I had hoped (overhead compartment is OK), but neither will the JS one. Needless to say, the JanSport is being returned and I'm keeping the High Sierra.

I highly recommend.
I bought it to pack an emergency room to-go bag in case the partner needs hospitalization. Clean clothes, toiletries, phone charger, notebook and pen (to take doctors notes) It fits everything, it's on wheels, it is everything I wanted. It's not big like a suitcase, or small like a small backpack. It's just the perfect size. I've been looking specifically for this and here it is. I high recommend this backpack on wheels. Buy it.

My 2nd High Sierra Powerglide Wheeled Backpack
This is my second High Sierra Powerglide Wheeled Backpack and I love it! This has to be my best carry-on bag that I have ever had. I have traveled 30+ years on airlines due to my jobs and this bag is AWESOME! It's very roomy...holds my laptop, tablet, important papers, and snacks with ease. The wheels make it so convenient to travel and when I have two large luggages the backpack straps are very useful. I highly recommend this backpack for traveling.

Great backpack for students
We have had this backpack for 3 years. My son has used it from 4th grade to now 7th grade hauling all of his books back and forth to school. It is just now showing wear and tear. I’m ordering a new one because some of the zipper teeth on the main compartment spread out and can’t be fixed. It has held up very well and his bag is stuffed. We even cut the backpack straps off and used that compartment to store flat folders, which gave him even more room. Highly recommend this backpack.

Excellent with a few cons
Excellent backpack. Sturdy frame, well-built. Big enough to fit a few large textbooks, school supplies and lunch etc. Keep in mind that it is pretty heavy on its own. It could definitely be improved by a mesh water bottle pocket. I end up having to put my water bottle in the main compartment with my textbooks. The side pockets are far too small (and already full besides). Another issue is that the handle sticks when moving it up and down, increasingly noticeable even though I've had it for only three weeks. The wheels definitely save your back. When not in use, the shoulder straps can be zipped up. Cons: 1) Weight 2) No water bottle pocket 3) Handle sticks Pros: 1) Roomy 2) Sturdy 3) Rolls easily
