GDFBAB0122 Fluted Steel Buckler, 9"

How do you get teenage boys to dance in your troupe? Ask them if they want to fight with a sword and buckler! Was going to fashion a buckler out of a hubcap or stove top cover... had all kinds of issues with making a secure handle. So I bit the bullet and purchased this buckler. It arrived when promised and was absolutely beautiful! Perfect size (yes it is small, READ the measurements) It is designed to be small! Bucklers were not just used as defense, but as a weapon to punch and slice with (sometimes the edge would be sharpened) Loved how the handle was shaped / fitted. We did wrap the handle in a soft faux leather (I'm vegan) which made for a secure, comfortable fit. This was the authentic size that was and is still used by the Syrian and Lebanese swordsman and sword dancers. BTW, it arrives greased up to protect against rusting so have cloth on hand to wipe down when opening package

Not bad for the price but... some notes: the grip is oval shaped and makes it hard to hold straight forward, and the weight is a little on the heavy side.

Very sturdy and looks good for a utility buckler. I added a belt retention hook that would be an excellent addition as an option

The handle doesn't provide enough room for mitten gauntlets. perhaps fine for finger gauntlets. it is a bit smaller size than I prefer for HMB duels. Held up well in blocking steel swords

It does say the diameter is 9 ". Good 14 guage though. It will take a beating. Im using it to smash heads in the ACL.

I got this largely because I like the solar appearance it has.It's a pretty heavy son of a gun. I'm satisfied.

While it's nice and shiny... it's so damned small that it's almost pointless to use for anything other than carrying a cup of tea about. I highly recommend you find a larger buckler. This thing is just too small for actual use. It barely is larger than the cup hilt on my rapier. But it IS pretty.
