The actual buckler does not come with the sturdy all-metal handle shown in the pictures. It had a flimsy metal strip with two pieces of low quality wood riveted to the metal strip which is riveted to the buckler. Should have read the reviews.

Excellent buckler for a great price. It was shipped in grease to prevent rusting and will need a good wipedown, but that is to be expected when shipping metal parts. All in all, solid construction, but i am unsure of the strength of the handle. It seems a little tenuous, and may be difficult to keep intact in SCA armored combat, though i have not tried. For the purpose of SCA C&T or Rapier, it has worked just fine so far. I suspect it would also stand up to most HEMA sparring.

Just received my buckler. It does not feature the sturdy all-metal handle from the picture. Instead it has a flimsy two-piece wooden handle that is already loose out of the box. While the rest of the buckler seems sturdy, and accurate to the description, it is useless to me without a strong handle.

I don’t love the handle, but otherwise this is an excellent buckler for the price.

I got this shield from Kult of Athena for 37 bucks. This buckler is manageable and light enough for the purpose of fencing/combat. Being made of 14 gauge steel, It will hold and last for robust combat. You'd probably need a hammer or thick spike to dent this thing. My sister who does H.e.m.a fighting; her only criticism is that the handle is a bit weak. Where the handle bolts to the shield, its too thin. When she does a shield bash, the part of the handle that is bolted; bends. So it probably needs modifications for improvement. If you don't intend to shield bash with this, this will hold for tournaments, heavy fighting, heavy sparring. Its cheap, affordable, robust, just like a buckler should be
