For those familiar with any of the previous releases in the "Look at Life" series, you'll have a fair idea of what to expect - yet another colourful collection of short features with running times of around 10 minutes each, a bright and breezy photo-album of snapshots of life in Britain, which were produced in the 1960's by The Rank Organisation for screening in their Odeon & Gaumont cinemas - a nostalgic collection with warm and cosy commentaries provided by Tim Turner, Michael Ingrams, John Witty, Bob Willcox, Antony Bilbow, Tom Naisby, Rowland Hill, Duncan Carse, Wynford Vaughan-Thomas, Vernon Greaves, John Westbrook, Stephen Potter & Paul Rogers.The sixty-four films certainly cover a wide spectrum of cultural heritage themes, which is why I have included a full list of the titles below. The picture and sound quality is generally good (although the film "Garden of Tomorrow" is badly faded compared to the rest). There are no extras or subtitles. These are wonderful period newsreels of the way we were! Toe curling in places, of course!!

Fascinating look back at ways of life. Well worth investing in.

For children of the 1960s, there's little better to evoke the spirit of hope that the age held, together with memories of how we used to enjoy our cultural life. The cameras also go to places that are little changed since they were filmed, e.g. remote parts of Scotland. But, oh, we do look warmer today compared to the rain-soaked concrete buildings and pavements in urban scenes here! Fabulous story-telling resource if you have younger relatives who sometimes say, "John, I like it when you try to explain the 1960s to me."

Always entertaining and seeing life as it was when I was young and emphasises a time when most people in England were English.

Lovely. I bought this for Christmas knowing there would be a few folk of various ages sitting in front of the fire post prandial.This was wonderful because the 10 minute segments allowed conversation or interest to develop. This is not an inexpensive item but will be fun for years to come. The resolution is excellent and clear. If you don't fancy this Culture one then I am sure you might find as much pleasure in another one. 4 discs too....

I bought this volume of cultural heritage films for my fiance who now has every Look At Life volume and many other heritage films but I have to say, I've loved watching these films myself. The films are varied and fascinating and the quality of the filming is brilliant.

These Look at Life films are great if you had lived through these times it brings back so many memories i have all the Look at Life series and would recomend to anybody who likes to see how things were in times gone by, one word sums them up GREAT.
