When you write "R-Bike-R65 (20KW)-(/ to /)" does that mean all models? I just want to be sure this is the right filter for a 1979 R65.

Yes it is, the old ones were one long filter and was difficult to get out because of the exhaust and frame, this makes it easier, one goes into the other. I changed mine and was also concerned,works fine, no leaks.

Are they for an oil cooler? They are longer than no oil cooler.

No, they are for a bike with no oil cooler. These fit my 1986 R65 without an oil cooler. If you have added an oil filter cooler cover (BMW OEM or aftermarket), then you need a different filter.

It fit my 1984 R80 RT Dual Shock model. Not sure about the 1985 that I think is a single shock...

Is this also a bmw catalog part number 11 421 337 570? that was the part number for the filter i used previously that fit.

Dont know part number just know it fit on my R60/5 1971

Perfect fit for R65

Worked great for my 1979 R65. Came with an extra shim that I did not need (be careful, if you install the shim and shouldn't, or don't install the shim and should, it will cause a loss of oil pressure). Did the job perfectly.

Hinged filter is better then straight filter

I was using a one piece filter but had trouble with it collapsing into itself. ( NOT GOOD) so i installed a 2 piece filter in its place. I've had no problem with it so far.

This part fit my '80 BMW R65 with no problem. Make sure to use the shim as well as the O-Ring for the filter compartment!
