This was a huge hit with our cat! It is durable and our cat immediately started interacting with it the moment we turned it on. This is a super cool cat toy and really looks like a butterfly flying around. The only downside could be the motor makes a sound, so if your cat is sensitive to sounds it might not be a hit.

Be creative with this awesome toy! My cat “killed” it too easily on the floor alone. She needed a longer prey sequence, so I enclosed it in an Amazon box adapted to allow space for the circling butterfly, with cut out windows. I stuck it to the floor when she “hunts”. Now she complains if I turn it off before she catches her and kills her prey. Once she “kills” it, I turn it off and give her a treat. Highly recommended! Update 10/10/20: My cat has not gotten bored with this at all. The base is sturdy. We turn it on several times a day, when she crouches outside the box because she is ready to “hunt”. Since purchase we have changed the batteries only 4 times. I bought refill butterflies with the toy, because one reviewer wrote he replaces the butterfly weekly: I don’t need to. The butterfly Is worn and torn, it’s now just a piece of shiny, fluttering plastic. As long as the shiny plastic keeps fluttering erratically on it’s wire, my cat will continue to attack it. She swats and stares at it, several times a day, occasionally batts at it, trying to get it to move. When I catch her at this, I turn it on and she’s back on the hunt, batting, pouncing, holding the wire down, chewing in the butterfly, then letting go so she can have another round. Every couple of days she hold the wire down so long she flattens it at the base and it won’t spin. I remove the butterfly unit, straiten the wire with needle nose pliers, and put it back in place. She follows me and reaches for it as I do this. When I put it back on the unit in spin position, and she returns to attacking, playing with, chewing on and eventually killing (stopping the movement of) her prey. I imagine she will eventually rip up and shred the butterfly so completely it comes off the wire. At that point I will replace the butterfly, but it is so firmly attached to the wire, it won’t be anytime soon. Even more highly recommended than when last posted.

The kids really have enjoyed this interactive toy. It was super easy to set up, and came with a small screwdriver to get the batteries in which appreciated. Once we found some batteries that actually work, they really enjoyed the toy. I gave it four stars because it would be great if it turned off after a certain amount of time. Also. The wire that it’s on bends very easily. So after a few hours of play, it’s basically just going around on the ground. It does come with another butterfly, so that’s good. Overall it’s worth it for me to provide some entertainment for the cats. And I am not going to lie, it’s been fun to watch them watch it and play. It even works for entertainment when it’s not on as they can still bat it around.

This is my cat’s favorite toy! Our Smokie is fat and lazy, so this has been good exercise for her. She loves to run, jump & attack the butterfly. Recently, though, she has discovered that she can lay next to it and get a massage. Now it really is her favorite toy! The only way it could be better is if it had an automatic shut off after 15 minutes. I don’t find it loud at all, it is just the butterfly flitting in circles. And, we are thankful for the sound because sometimes we forget to turn it off.

I recently purchased this cat toy, and while it's an interesting gadget that my cat loves, it has both strengths and weaknesses. Here are my thoughts: Firstly, this toy is undoubtedly entertaining. My cat goes wild chasing and interacting with it, which keeps her active and engaged. However, I wish it had an auto cutoff timer. This feature would be particularly useful when I'm not at home, ensuring the toy doesn't run out of battery too quickly and my cat doesn't get bored if it stops working prematurely. The build quality is another mixed aspect. While the toy doesn't feel exceptionally sturdy, it seems to be robust enough to withstand my cat's playful antics. Despite its somewhat flimsy feel, it hasn't broken yet, which suggests it's durable enough for its purpose. However, given the price, I expected something with a bit more heft and durability. The motor isn't very strong, which, in a way, is a positive. A less powerful motor means there's a reduced risk of the toy accidentally harming my cat. Still, the weak motor can make the toy seem underwhelming and less exciting than expected. Overall, while the toy has some appealing features and my cat enjoys it, I can't help but feel it's a bit overpriced for what it offers. The lack of an auto cutoff timer, the less-than-sturdy build, and the weak motor all contribute to a sense of it being a bit lackluster for the price. It's a cool toy, but it doesn't quite live up to its cost in terms of quality and functionality.

This toy is a big hit with my kitten. She's absolutely amazed by it, and it keeps her attention longer than other toys. I don't love that it's battery operated rather than rechargeable because I can already tell I'll be using this toy a lot. It's a little noisy, but not terrible. It's worth it if it tires out this little energetic fluffball.

I bought this our furbabies. Our female cat is very outdoor driven and loves to stalk and kill anything she can get her paws on. During the cold weather months, we are unable to take her and her brother outside (we sit out with them as they are INDOOR cats) so she gets BORED. She will literally play with a toy for 3 minutes and walk away. This toy intrigued me, since our girl has such strong stalking instincts and WOW, it ended up being the best purchase I ever made! Our girl was immediately drawn to the movement of the butterfly. At first, it doesn't flutter as the butterfly needs softened up a tad....but that didn't stop our cat from jumping right in there. Surprisingly, she played with this toy for HOURS. She would even back away, hide, watch for several minutes and stalk before attacking. She is so much more content and less bored during cold weather now. I HIGHLY recommend this for any cat lover with kitties that are high energy and need their behavior redirected into something besides tearing up the house and attacking her brothers and sisters. Extremely well made with a base that stays put. It's lightweight, doesn't take up a great deal of room and the butterflies last and last! Batteries run for quite a while before even slowing down. And even when the cat manages to get the "prey" into their mouth, the wire stays put with the click in plastic piece. I got the box of 4 refills and so far, haven't needed them. But as much as this toy is loved and used, I am glad I did! I cannot say enough good things about this toy. Beware of rip offs and copy cats (pun intended) as cheaper is NOT always better.

I originally ordered (2) of these back in June 2022. Per the original 5-star review below, the cats LOVED these fanatically and both of the toys lasted nearly 3 years of heavy use! I only had to replace the Butterfly Wands when the butterflies became too ragged to “fly;” they were sturdy and they lasted a long time too (also All For Paws brand). Fortunately I had (2) identical replacement units on hand for when the original units eventually gave-out. I had purchased extras so the girls would never be without their favorite toy. Unfortunately the newer versions ARE NOT of the same QUALITY. Both of them, plus a 3rd unit I purchased a couple weeks ago, all from the same company, BROKE within the first week of use … in potentially dangerous ways. [see photos] I only used to allow play with automated toys while someone was present, due to many reviews of “imports” causing pet injury. But this specific toy/brand had a 2.5 year track record with us, so I did not monitor when I set out the new ones … MISTAKE. The 1st unit’s BUTTERFLY securing-mechanism broke apart within the first couple days, leaving small parts on the floor and exposing the metal hook which secures the butterfly. The butterfly had also separated — top layer peeled away from the bottom layer (earlier butterflies did not have this issue and were much sturdier). So I replaced the Butterfly Wand with one of the wands included, hoping this was just a one-off … but the same thing happened a few days later! I could only pray that neither cat ingested any of the pieces. I get-it that the butterflies get chomped-on a lot, but this never happened with any of the many AFP Butterfly Wands from our 2022 purchase. Our younger cat was injured when the wand broke. She was playing with the butterfly as usual, but this time the butterfly securing-mechanism broke apart. I noticed the bright-red cut on her lip/chin first thing; it must’ve been painful for her to eat/drink that week as her gums were likely injured as well. She now has a SCAR from the center of her lower lip down her chin, the width of the thin metal Butterfly Wand. Since she has white fur, the scar is a visible reminder of her playtime gone bad (which prompted this post). With that unit broken, I opened the 2nd and 3rd units. They too broke within the first week of play, but in a different way … each of the METAL Butterfly Wands SHEARED-OFF at the base! The sheared-off fallen wands, now propped-up by toy’s base, could have severely injured children and/or pets (long thin metal rod poking into eyes, ears, nose, etc.). I replaced one of the Butterfly Wands with one of the included spares, hoping this too had just been a one-off; but within days it too had completely sheared-off at the base!!! IN SUMMARY: Based on my experience, the large base of all (3) newer units had been running strong and without issue and still seemed of high quality … all of our issues were with the included Butterfly WANDS. Is a flimsier cheaper fabric and metal being used? Are wands being outsourced to an inferior 3rd party? I only know the wand issues we recently experienced had never been an issue with the two original AFP units and AFP Replacement Wands purchased in June 2022 which made it through nearly three years of heavy use without issue. I hope the company reads their reviews and addresses any issues. The cats are going crazy calling for this favorite toy, but I’d rather be safe than sorry again — one scar is enough. I’m just grateful none of the small parts were ingested. June 2022: “100 PAWS-UP” CAT LOVES THIS! DURABLE, LONG LASTING First, BUY THIS MODEL NOT the one from the other vendor with on/off switch on bottom of the unit; you want the on/off switch on TOP of the unit. They look identical except for location of the switch … but there’s a BIG difference in performance. That one had poor reviews; this one is tested awesome )on/off switch on top)! Gracie has been playing w-this for HOURS EVERY DAY since getting this a month ago. I even join in, batting it back and forth with her. It’s been a wonderful bonding experience :-) This model LASTS A LONG TIME. She’s had it about a month and I haven’t had to change the battery OR the butterfly yet! Very DURABLE. She plays several hours a day every day; and she’s no lightweight: it gets batted, sat-on, pounced-on, chewed, even batted by humans! I even BOUGHT HER AN ADD’L UNIT so she has one on both 1st & 2nd floors … I got tired of running the toy up and down the steps, as she’d eventually cry if the toy wasn’t around for her to play with (and we never want a sad kitty). Second, per reviews only ONE BRAND of BUTTERFLIES WORK with this unit so buy them WITH 1st ORDER. Do not wait until you need it or kitty cat may become vocal until toy is up and running again (like my cat). Keep some on-hand. These butterflies are VERY LIFELIKE and are WORTH THE PRICE — your cat gets the full predator / prey experience: these move like, sound like, and (as they flutter) feel like real live prey. [NOTE: IF butterfly DOES NOT FLUTTER its likely due to wire being angled too high; this will also cause it to fly too high, too FAST, and cat may lose interest. Hard hits may also throw it off.] [EZ FIX: With unit off, use finger to gently push-down on wire near the base; wire will appear somewhat parallel to floor.] Turn on and Butterfly WILL FLUTTER just above ground level; it will move, feel and sound JUST LIKE REAL PREY! At least to me it did — it made my stomach queezy as it fluttered in my palms, felt like a real live bug 🤮.] The ONLY DOWNSIDE, which would have been a deal-breaker had Gracie not loved this toy more than anything else in the world: there is NO MOTION SENSOR. The claimed ‘motion sensor’ was the only reason I bought this, so she’d have something to play with throughout the day that wouldn’t run all day or all night. Other reviews note the same. BUT due to her amazing love of this toy, with realistic prey; AND given she’s played with it for hours and hours and hours and I still haven’t had to change the batteries in nearly a month, I’m no longer concerned with the lack of auto shut-off. Like I said, we just bought her an additional unit so she’d have one on each floor — that’s how much she loves this thing (and that’s how much we love her new fondness for exercise). We were looking for a toy that would double as EXERCISE; Gracie was an extremely SEDENTARY SENIOR CAT. This toy exceeded our expectations by far. Gracie has so much fun chasing and catching that she doesn’t realize those hours and hours of ‘play’ every day are actually exercise; exercise in which SHE chooses to engage. Nothing forced, all her choice :-) This is a FANTASTIC product for exercise and play; alone or with human family. Gracie and I give this (AND the recommended replacement butterflies) a hundred PAWS UP 🐾

Ich habe dieses Spielzeug für meine 2 Stubentiger gekauft. Die 2 sind 9 und 7 Jahre alt. Und eigentlich war es mehr ein Versuch weil ich dachte, dass eher Kitten damit spielen würden. ABER: Beide lieben es ! Es hat beide direkt interessiert und das, obwohl die 2 auf völlig unterschiedliches Spielzeug abfahren. Hier habe ich alles richtig gemacht. Wenn ich das Spielzeug im Wohnzimmer anschalte, dann kommt meine 9 Jährige vom Schrank im Schlafzommer gesprungen-egal, wie tief sie döst ;) Tatsächlich ist das Spielzeug auch sehr robost. Selbst meine 6 kg Schildpatt, die sich gern mit vollem Körpereinsatz auf das Teil stürzt, bringt das nicht zu Fall. Gut, der Draht war schon schnell verbogen, aber das Ding läuft trotzdem super weiter und es gibt ja auch noch einen Ersatzdraht. Alles in allem kann ich das Spielzeug also absolut empfehlen. Es hat sich auch noch kein Häärchen irgendwo verfangen, was hier einige befüchtet hatten. Und meine andere ist eine Norwegerin-also viiiele Häärchen, die es treffen könnte. Wir haben alle jedes Mal wenn es läuft einen Riesenspaß ! Top !

le jouet préféré de mon chat , il l'adore , j'ai acheté plusieurs papillons car faut les changer de temps en temps ils finissent par casser , c'est le 2 ème que j'achète , le socle est très solide je le posé au dessu de son arbre il est tombé plusieurs fois et fonctionnait toujours mais la dernière fois il est mal tombé donc ça a cassé a l'interieur rien a voir avec la solidité du jouet , je recommande vraiment ce jouet , très bon article
