Awesome camera, even better customer service
I am pretty sure that in the 10 plus years that I have been on Amazon this I can count on one had how many reviews I have left. However, I decided to leave a review of this doorbell camera. All and all I think this is a great camera. It has a very detailed image and it is pretty easy to make out a face from a decent distance away. Installation was simple (I did have to swap out my doorbell transformer due to undervoltage). Setup was even easier. I have noticed through some review that there is a complaint about the HDR. I do not have any issues with it. Due to trees in my yard it is constantly fluctuating between shade and direct sun light, but it still maintains a clean image. The only 2 issues that I have had is with motion detection picking up things outside of my activity zone, and the not recording very long after a motion trigger or ring. The company is very responsive and typically gets back to me after an email within 24 hrs. They have been very helpful in working on these issues with me. Below are some pros and cons. Pros- -2K video, I have seen some complaints that it is not 4K. The 2k video is clear enough for the application. I do not feel that you need 4k to look at someone at your door. - No monthly fees. It stores on the camera. The 4gb card holds more video even at 2k then you would ever need. I'm at 76% and I have had it installed for 2 months now. And with having a kid and lots of deliveries there are alot of videos. - The app is easy to use, and the directions are very clear so install and configuration is simple. - Great costumer service as mentioned above. - The app would make it easy it integrate more Eufy cameras in the future. Cons- -I have had some issues with the camera seeing a face in a bush in my yard somehow, and also I have a light on a chain at my front door that swings sometimes. Even though I have the activity zone set up and they are excluded, it still triggers an event. I tweaked the zone a little bit and stopped the bush, but can't stop the light. Customer service is continuing to help me with this issue. - An event video stops recording when you open up the notification on your phone. It also without opening the notification stops recording after a couple of seconds. Customer service explained to me that they are currently working to resolve this issue, and hope to have it fixed in the near future. I made the recommendation to have a user option to configure how long it records before and after a event. - I am not 100% positive on this, but some of the docs that I have seen, it looks like the iPhone app has a couple more features for motion detection than Android. - The last con is that since the video is stored on the device, if they steal the doorbell you lose the videos. I also wish that they had the warranty like Skybell where if it is stolen they will replace it for free. Over all I think it is a great camera, and have already convinced a couple of friends to buy one as well. It is a new device for Eufy, and I think as they continue to iron out a couple of the small kinks it will be a solid camera.

A surprisingly great competitor to Ring/Nest. Edited to add how it helped me find a thief
Edit to original review: Some neighborhood punk kids decided to steal something off of my porch and they didn't know that I had the video doorbell. I was able to find the kids rather easily since they weren't that smart and they hung around the neighborhood. I used my iPhone to record my confrontation from them, told them they better take me to their parents instantly or I'm going to call the cops. They took me to their home and I had a chat with their parents about how their kids stole things off of my porch. Without this camera I wouldn't have known who did it, so just for this instance alone it's well worth the money. It's been on 24/7 for the past few months and has worked wonderfully with no issues. I've wanted a doorbell camera for a while now for various reasons including, but not limited to, dogs doing their business on my lawn, seeing who's coming to my door when I'm not home, but most of all, for people trying to get into my house either through malfeasance or idiocy. It seems like every other week someone was trying to walk into my house by turning the doorknob (particularly at night) and it seems that one of my neighbors has late night guests that can't read the house number and apparently just walk into homes without even having to knock. I keep a shotgun close just in case but that's of course as a last resort and I always keep my doors locked with multiple locks. Maybe I'm a little paranoid since my city has an extremely low crime rate, but honestly I don't care because my families safety comes first. Anyway, back to the doorbell. I was ultimately looking at getting a Nest doorbell camera from Costco because the quality seemed better and the deal they had seemed too good to pass up as it included 12 months of the premium online camera service (after 12 months you have to pay for the subscription). I was about to pull the trigger but the sale ended and I wasn't going to overpay for something that would probably go on sale again. I started looking into other cameras and saw a video on YouTube about this camera and considering the price and that it came with a chime too (where you have to pay extra for the chime with ring or nest unless it's in a bundle) I decided to get this doorbell camera. Another positive for me was not having to pay for a subscription to utilize it to it's maximum effect. I don't mind that the storage is local because if someone were to steal or break it purposefully they'll have their face recorded prior to breaking it. I look at my system on every alert so I would be able to save the footage needed if they tore the whole doorbell out including the on board storage. All those made it an easy choice and thanks to having an electrician in the family, I was up and running with it in about 10 minutes. I bought this camera in August so I have plenty of time to see the good and the bad and I'm not going to run through every little thing, but there's a lot more good than bad. The bad is that it takes maybe 4-6 seconds to get a notification of the motion, be it a car or the swaying trees or someone coming to the door. That's about all of the bad I can think of. The camera itself is excellent particularly in areas where I was unsure any camera doorbell would do well, direct sunlight and night vision. The night vision is pretty good. It's not perfect but for the price it's very clear on what you can see. I have a large field of view directly out of my front door and I think I can see at least 50-75 feet away using the camera. It's not going to be a crystal clear face but you can see motion and human figures which I think is good for a night vision. Direct sunlight is something I was worried about since some cameras are terrible at it but this one is excellent. I live in the desert and in the summer months, particularly August when I bought the camera, the sun is extremely bright and extremely hot. I am very impressed with how the camera handles direct sunlight. it seems like it's almost designed to "block" the sun so you can see the street, driveway, etc. in front of your house. it's hard to explain but the sun doesn't interfere with what you see and that's a plus to me. To wrap it up, I think it's a great device if you're okay with local storage. I am and I'm going to continue to enjoy this doorbell camera. The only thing I'll add is to update your firmware as soon as you can.

I really like the high res 2K camera, best on the market and the build quality is pretty solid. Installation was easy, but I had to do some chisel work as my old doorbells were installed on slightly angled finishing trim around the door. Still fiddling with the zones and motion sensitivity to get that right. Really like the audio options and loudness and quality of the plug in chime unit. Bought one Eufy wired doorbell unit originally and it allowed me to set up no problem. The app indicated I had enough power. Everything seemed OK, except for a couple disconnects, which I restarted the unit and solved each time. In hindsight I think my power was a bit low. I liked the first one so much that I ordered a second wired cam, a reconditioned one (which seemed good as new) for my back doorbell. One bit of advice is the install ID, serial number on the box of the reconditioned unit is likely not correct. Took me a few tries to realize that it was wrong. I scanned the code on the back of the actual unit and it installed correctly. Another bit of advice is to take a photo of the install QR code on your device so you have the unit number for any future unit resets as it will ask you to take pic of the QR code (hard to do once unit is installed) or enter it manually. Installing the rear doorbell was a bit more finicky. I noticed I was having detection issues on both the front and rear door bell cameras and sometimes one or the other failed to pick up the motion. I also noticed either the front or back doorbell cams kept disconnecting, losing power. The issue was I had enough voltage for one camera, barely enough. I was getting about 10V (see old transformer above) which seemed to allow the cam to work,, but ideally not up to the 16 volts I really needed. If you experience any issues with your cam likely the first thing to blame is power. Once I added that second cam the draw on the power was too heavy and the camera connections kept failing. I ordered this (see red transformer above) off Amazon, of course, and even though Eufy recommended, 16-24V at 30VA I installed the 24V 40VA as I found another thread where Ankur said the larger size transformer would also work. I went with the one noted below because I have two cams and I wanted to ensure I had enough VAs for the heavier draw. Anyhow, the transformer was located outside my fuse panel and installation was quite simple to replace old underpowered unit with new 24V unit. Some transformers are located in the wall behind the old doorbell chime unit. If you have WiFi issues, including lag and latency when using this doorbell, or if you have hardware issues with the chime emitting a constant buzz, READ this. General summary: 5/5 recommend this doorbell. No subscription is a huge selling point. You don’t need a micro SD, though I wish internal storage was a bit larger- but it’s ok. Quality is really really nice, both day and night. I find communicating to work fairly well with minimal latency - make sure to speak up and be clear ! WiFi Issues? For a couple months after install, I was so upset that the latency was SO bad. It would rarely connect, take forever to review footage.. live view was so slow- it made it pointless to be honest. But I found out a couple things. The obvious is that you need a connect to your router fairly close by or a good router in general. The second and IMPORTANT part is a bit more complicated for some but there are many YouTube videos that make it easy. This doorbell only connects to a 2.4 network. Go to your routers login page, and go to the 2.4 network settings. Make sure you set a dedicated channel: either 2, 6, or 11. 6 can work most of the time but you can try the others if you have issues. The reason for this is because the lag you’re experiencing is from conflicting neighbouring networks. Interference. Setting a dedicated channel fixed my wifi issue immediately. It works flawless now. This is a must if you have issues with wifi and live in a crowded network area. Hardware Issue with chime buzz? READ: It’s very easy to install this doorbell. I even did it at night with no experience prior. However, my chime was buzzing and vibrating a hum for some reason after my install. This is likely due to the voltage of the doorbell drawing more power. I used one jumper but it had this issue. I will note that I have two doorbells at my home, so I just installed the second jumper in my old chime and the buzzing went away instantly. This might be obvious to some but wasn’t clear as my system has more than one doorbell :) Cheers.

I’ve had this camera for over a year. It’s now going in the garbage. I truly can’t say enough how disappointed I am in this camera, the app, and the support services. When I first connected the camera, it worked fine. Picture quality was good and I liked that you didn’t have to pay a monthly fee to save videos or playback events. However, it very quickly stopped connecting to the wifi, went offline constantly, wouldn’t work in rain, wind or cold weather, could not connect to it under circumstances no matter how much I reset it and reconnected. It never recorded what I wanted it to record, people would be at my door and there would be no notifications yet it would record the wind in the middle of the night or cars driving a street over. Like how?? I redownloaded the app. Did all the updates like support suggested and the camera will not connect. I’ve checked all wires, wifi, and plugs. Invest your money into something else.

Very easy installation. Setup is fairly straightforward. App is somewhat intuitive. Daytime video is bright, sharp, and colorful. Nighttime video is black and white but with pretty good clarity. Chime can be adjusted to be pretty loud. App on phone responds immediately to a doorbell press. Communication with person at door has a delay, but still useable. Human detection for start of recording works most but not all of the time - the setting either missed some times out picks up way too many false triggers. My place has a 10V transformer on the existing doorbell and that worked, which made the 16V 30VA transformer I ordered unnecessary. Tried getting it to work with existing chime but no luck (even with 16V transformer).
