Hitec RCD Inc. D-85MG Micro Digital Programmable Metal Gear Servo, HRC36085

I used this to animate a sculpture for an artist. I needed a small servo that could be speed limited, particularly on initial power up. While it is intended to be programmed initially and then use standard pulse width RC control for operation, it turns out you can operate it via UART serial as well which was a benefit in this application. Serial operation has a few quirks, but they can be worked around. Serial operation is undocumented by Hitec, but a web search will turn up how to do it.

I like the speed adjustment and soft start capability. You need the programmer to access programmable functions. In my case, it’s worth the expense. Seems to be strong and smooth. I use one in an elevation capacity, and it’s under a constant unbalanced load. Works well. YMMV.

I've used these servos in an Eflite Habu jet and they work very well. I just purchased a set for the elevators on my new Freewing MiG-29. Plenty happy with Hitec servos.
