Hepper Hi-lo Cat Scratcher, A 5 Position Cat Scratching Post Made with 3 Inch Extra Thick Cardboard and Sturdy Steel Kickstand

This is the first scratching post that I have been able to get my cat to use. Finally, something she prefers to my couch...This thing is so simple, but it's genius. My cat loves the feel of it and you can really get a lot of use out of it, by flipping it to the other side, after it gets worn down. Also, you can flip it to get all the different configurations depending on what your cat likes. Personally, I put mine up against the leg of my couch. This acts to reinforce it so my cat can jump and lay on it. Also, it gives here a different option from the couch...Like all hepper products it's a bit pricey, but I think it is worth it. I've had mine for over 6 months and my cat goes crazy on it and it is still going strong. I don't it will last longer than a year, but I think it's ok to be a yearly replacement item. I've bought tons of other rope scratching post and my cat just completely ignored them so they were by far a bigger waste of money.

Dear Hepper,By discontinuing the refills for the original Hepper scratcher, you stink. This replacement model is OK, but it's not nearly as nice as the original, solid wood framed scratcher. What's more, the quality of the corrugated cardboard isn't as sturdy as the original. It sheds a lot more and won't last nearly as long as ver. 1.Although your website says that we can take apart the 'new' Hepper scratcher and put its cardboard inside the former, solid wood frame, it's not going to happen for $59 a pop. What to do?Well, we're taking the corrugated cardboard fill of the original Hepper solid wood scratcher to a cardboard mfg to find out the minimums for creating refills for the original. These will be the same quality as the original Hi-Lo scratcher so that they'll last longer than this model.If the die set up and minimum quantities aren't too expensive, theb we'll just sell off our excess inventory on Etsy, Amazon, eBay and anywhere else that we can. Oh, yah, we're tech heads, too, so it's a simple matter of creating a webpage to sell the refills and put our refill page at the top of Google searches.Don't like our solution? Well then, Hepper, you might decide to stink less and support all those solid wood scratchers out there because we were once your customers and might be, again. But asking us to pony up $59 for an inferior quality refill is gilding the lily.All the best...

My cat has absolutely no interest. She will actually reach around it to scratch something else.

Just received this today...Beyond easy to assemble...My cats took to it like fish to water...So glad I bought this for them...Highly recommend it...I also feel it is well worth the price, for it's rotatable, so as my cats wear through one part, I still have several other parts for them still to use... My other vertical scratcher, once scratched at the top part, was no longer useable, as they didn't scratch the bottom part, so I has to throw it out...UPDATE: October 11, 2015After having this product for about 6 weeks, I've decided to remove a star from the rating, going from 5 to 4... While my cats use this product quite a bit, it does shed all over... I am constantly cleaning up bits of cardboard from my carpet...Prior to this product, I had a sisel cat scratcher... With use, the sisel became ragged, but it stayed in place, not creating a need to vacuum...I would rethink buying a new one of these when this one wears out, which is happening pretty fast...UPDATE: November 26th, 2015After my last review from 5 or 6 weeks ago, I've removed 2 more stars... This cat scratcher is just about scratched out, and needing to be replaced... I had a cat scratcher, prior to this one, that I've paid $50 for and lasted for about a year, even though my cats only scratched it on the top... This one is nice, for it can be rotated, but it didn't last long... I now need another one, but refuse to shell out another $70 for a cat scratcher that will only last about 3 months...

If you're a cat owner, you know that cats can be really picky and often don't use the things you purchase for them, so I was a little nervous about this purchase. However, my cat LOVES this thing! She liked scratching the couch, so we positioned it vertically behind the couch and she took to it right away. She'll run into the living room just to scratch on this thing! I will admit that the result is a lot of cardboard debris, but honestly, it's worth it. She's happy to have an approved (and comfortable) place to scratch and we're happy she's not scratching the furniture anymore. We're thinking about buying these as gifts for our cat owner friends!

Cats love it but they keep knocking it over and scaring themselves. For that reason it gets a 3. We ended up taking the wires off and just letting it sit as a curve. They use it fine that way.

I really appreciate the design that went into the Hepper Hi-Lo Cat Scratcher. It was thoughtfully designed, not only to appeal to kitties, but aesthetically, it is a very nice looking piece of cat furniture that I am happy to add to the decor in my home. More importantly, my three kitties love the Hepper Hi-Lo Cat Scratcher and have already had a lot of fun scratching using it to stretch and scratch. I believe the vertical surface is very appealing to the kitties, as they particularly enjoy the sides of my sofa! The Hepper is a great solution to that problem. Thank you for the wonderful product you've put out!!

Looks great, cats love it, will continue to buy this as long as they make it. I have a 17lb cat (strong) and a smaller cat, and this has lasted over a year. Will probably replace it before the 2 year mark I'd guess, so really a great lifespan for cardboard. This is definitely NOT the weak cardboard you find in a the cheap flat-box style scratchers.Nice work, Hepper. I was dubious but this is a quality product.
