(00993STA4) Digital Meat Thermometer with Probe for Oven/Grill

My old digital probe timer quit working so I had to buy another one quickly. I have a hand held one but I use the probe all the time in the Air Fryer and the Oven. I didnt have much time to check them all out and read all the reviews before I ordered this one. It came quickly and I used it that night on some fresh caught Salmon. Sure didnt want to ruin that. Was very easy to set up. The alarm worked great and it was loud enough for me to hear. The salmon was done perfectly. I was impressed with this thermometer as my other one cost way more and had way too many settings on it for me. I am a simple girl, just want to set my temperature and have it alarm when it reaches it. This one is very much more lightweight then my others but hey, it is doing the job perfectly so I am happy.

I had one of these for many years--maybe about 20--and it worked great. It finally died and, of course, I immediately bought another. It is just as reliable as the first one, and very sensitive to temperature changes. Besides for cooking, I even use it to measure the warmth of water I add to the aquarium.

Easy to use

I bought this identical thermometer unit about 8(?) years ago and it has worked great! I had no problems with it and only replaced the batteries in it about 3 times in 8 years - until it quit working. I liked it so much that I bought another just like my old one, assuming that it would be the same quality. I have been very disappointed. The new one goes though about two batteries every 1 - 2 months and I only use it about once every 10 days. It also quit beeping when foods reach their preset temperature so you have to watch the temperature rather than listening for foods to be cooked. and now the battery cover won't stay on. I got tired of finding that the batteries were dead again, just a week after I changed the last ones so I just bought a different brand to try. (and yes, I turned it off after each use) Too bad the quality is so different from the first one I bought.

This is a replacement for the same one I had before. Having an "alarm" feature to indicate when a temp has been reached is very important to me. This appears to be an updated version with an improved probe. Most of the negative feedback on this unit stems from when the probe lead starts to breakdown and gives weird readings.

I must say that I truly LOVE this thermometer. It is very simple to use and is a very reasonable price. Mine just wore out after using it a minimum of three times a week for about three years. After doing the math that turns out to be nearly 470 times I've used this and never once overcooking the meat. That's 3 cents per use. Whether it be in the oven, on the stove or while using the grill. Everything comes out perfect as long as you know which temps to cook to for which ever kind of meat you are cooking (obviously). Simply set the temp and when it the alarm beeps the meat is the temp you want. Done

This is the 2nd one of these I have purchased - the first one lasted about 5 years and the probe goes bad, so I was able to order a new probe for 5.0 from Acurite - this one arrived and the grey face plate fell off the first day - I glued it back on, but that was disappointing. I used it to get the correct temp for coffee water and also for tasting chicken for doneness - works great. Would buy another one.

Our second one. First one lasted quite a few years, but hubby used it on the bbq grill and it stopped working to perfection. Used this one last week to cook a prime rib roast and it came out perfect!!!
