Good remote. Worth the price.
The GMATRIX remote works great. The easiest way to set the proper code for your TV is to use method "1. Automatically Search". Press the Set button for 7 seconds, point the remote at your TV and let it find the correct code automatically. When the correct code is found your TV will shut off and you then press the Set button again to lock in the correct code. The trick to using this method is that you MUST watch for the TV to shut off, have the remote in your hand, and press the Set button IMMEDIATELY once your TV shuts off. If you don't hit the Set button immediately after the TV shuts, off the remote will continue searching other codes because it doesn't know the TV has shut off, and if you press Set after the remote has tried another code, the last code the remote tried will be the code that is saved - which will not be the correct code for your TV - and you'll have to start all over again. My remote found the correct code in less than 15 seconds. I tried the other 2 methods of setting the code and they didn't work. Go with Method 1.Battery installation was easy. Removing the cover by pulling on the lanyard worked just fine, but putting the cover back on was a little difficult. The rubber "waterproof" cover came off easily - and is probably useless. I did pop it back on, but I doubt it will do anything to protect the batteries. If you need or someone you know needs a very, very, simple remote with large buttons this one is a good buy for $15.00.

Easy to use, difficult to program.
I bought this to replace the remote my father-in-law lost. He is 81, technophobic, and has poor short term memory. I bought a replacement remote for the TV, but that had too many buttons for him. This one was just perfect. Large buttons and an easy way to switch to the Roku (input button). My only concern is with programming. This was for a newer Samsung TV, and it took several attempts to program. You program the remote by holding down one key until the TV changes channel (or something like that). I didn't time it, but the first time I gave up on my second try, after 5-10 minutes, as I had somewhere to go (it had just arrived in the mail, and Dad wanted to use it right away). On my second (3rd?) try, I held the button for well past 5 minutes before anything happened. Once it finally changed channels, it now works fine. One other concern was in putting batteries in it (2 AAA, not included). You won't be able to open it without the instructions, as you have to pull the lanyard while pushing a button. And then there is the waterproof cover over the battery compartment; it takes a bit of a tug to pull off (good for waterproof I'd guess), but I wasn't sure I'd be able to remove it the first time. Once I realized how much force it took, it came off okay, and replaced fairly easily (start at one end, push it towards other end and then push the other end down). In summary, easy remote to use, but not so easy to set-up. I doubt my 'Dad' would have been able to figure it out, but he sure knows how to use it, and prefers it to the original.

Not an easy remote to program at all.
As of this date I have not been able to program this remote to my TV. I even had a techno nerd who knows every thing about electronics try to program it and he was not able to at all. On top of all of this the instructions are poorly written in English, some of the directions are written in reverse?

Works great.
Add a battery and Works right out the box. You have to hold it pointed at the TV for awhile (2-3 seconds). It runs though all the codes for it to work. But it's simple and easy to work. Large buttons. Batteries lock in. Great for my dementia loved one.

Good value, functions as intended, but not perfect
CONCLUSION: Meets my needs and is well worth the price.PRO: All keys are programmable. Large buttons. Fairly heavy and solid feeling. Simple design. Great pricing.CON: I had a lot of trouble and frustration getting it programmed (see below). Glow-in-the-dark buttons are very dim (not lighted). The sharp edge around the top lip feels threatening but don't be concerned about being cut by it; also you can easily round the edges off simply by rubbing and smoothing out the sharp edge with anything metal (coin, binder clip, etc.). Operating range seems low but that could be my device. Buttons not very solid; one side of one buttons is pushed in and won't come out of the housing past the level of the surface (this occurred on day one during programming). The other buttons pop up about 2mm.Claims to be "waterproof;" I haven't tested this aspect but this claim seems very unlikely. It looks like it will easily withstand being dropped in the pool for a minute (water resistant), but the rubber cover that slips over the typical 2 AAA cell battery case seems like a really temporary barrier, and unable to withstand any depth. I wouldn't let this float in the water for any length of time, or let it go under water at all.I purchased this to upgrade the wimpy credit card remote that came with the expensive Paradigm Shift MilleniaOne CT 2.1 compact active (self powered) home theater. The Paradigm remote is tiny and the buttons feels flimsy. The Paradigm seems to have greater but more directional range.Programming works almost as described. Finished programming two buttons on about the second attempt, but several other buttons required more than 15 attempts before they became functional. I think I was holding down the learning button too long. Eventually got the hang of it and now all buttons work as intended.
