Love this movie, it's absolutely hilarious!!

I don't get any of the hate for this movie. I don't really get the lowest, "one-star," bashing comments. I guess as I step back and take a look at it, the people who hated it must have not liked the "stupid" humor. They must have also not liked some of the gross-out aspects. The movie also lacked any real development moments, but I will get to that in a second. I agree that the gross-out aspects should have been left out, but the "stupid" humor was ironically very intelligent. I actually thought the "stupid" humor did an excellent job at being stupid only insofar as making fun of stupid people and stupid aspects of fame. In that respect, I thought it was actually very intelligent, whereas I feel that people who like the typical Judd Apatow, Will Ferrell movies really ARE that stupid, and enjoy watching people drink their own urine or whatever. I think they see a character drink his own urine and they laugh because they think "Man! I've done THAT before!" This movie takes care to step back and reassure you that it is not as stupid as the people and music it is making fun of. It's like when you have an intelligent friend and he's making fun of someone stupid by mimicking them. I got that feeling all the way through this movie, and that prevented me from hating it.About the plot development moments: overall, I agree with The Lonely Island. I feel that syrupy sweet, sappy moments, like when a guy realizes he misses his best friend and calls him just seem too cliche and maudlin. It feels like the movie is trying to sucker me me in to feeling something I just don't really feel. The Lonely Island has a way of not being too sentimental and just moving from plot development to development and the movie zips right past at a healthy pace that doesn't drag. However, I've got to say that some of the developments go by a little TOO fast, and there should be a few more "real" feelings in there. These guys move along at a zany Marx Brothers pace. On the one hand, it can feel nice that they don't get bogged down in sappy moments, but the transitions can feel a little bit brutal sometimes. It can feel like you're dealing with someone who has no feelings. I do think that their style is a little more suited to video shorts and quick sketches. That is where they are at their best, but don't get me wrong: there are damn near hilarious moments in this movie, like the "Tony! Toni! Tone!" bit. On the whole, this movie was pretty awesome, and worth the time I put into it on the whole. It was a good way to spend a Friday evening. It's too bad that it bombed at the box office, and that it didn't get the credit it deserved. I also believe that Samberg was the only Lonely Islander that could have handled the acting required of the main character. Jorma and Akiva may be awesome joke technicians as far as writing goes, but I think their acting chops just aren't up to par. It is kind of sad to watch Will Ferrell movies do so well, and to see this movie that actually has a spark of funniness in it bomb, but such is Hollywood, I guess. Great movie: 3.5 to 4 stars.

This mockumentary is super funny if you like SNL type humor and a play on the boy band music industry. Lots of laughs were had!

I love this movie so much. The Bin Laden and Equal Rights songs are on my daily Spotify playlist. This is such a good movie!

Ordered the Blu Ray + DVD + Digital combo pack. I often order copies like this so I can have access to an easily streamable digital version as well as a physical copy of a movie. The Blu Ray and DVD seem to be fine. Unfortunately, the digital code is invalid. I don't know if this is a situation in which the code is somehow expired or if the movie was opened, the digital code used, and the physical discs resealed. Either way, a significant disappointment.

Criminally underrated - one of the funniest movies that nobody has heard of. Somebody in the marketing department messed up big time. This movie had me and everyone I've introduced it to laughing from beginning to end.Bought this after watching it online and was absolutely spoiled by the amount of bonus footage, deleted scenes, and music videos. Over an hour of extra footage, which adds up to being almost as long as the movie, and really adds to the characters and the story. Full of can't miss gems that only didn't make the cut to keep the movie tight. If you like the movie you will LOVE the blu-ray.Popstar nails modern celebrity culture in a mockumentary packed with hilarious, catchy, ridiculous and inappropriate, yet brilliant songs that The Lonely Island are best known for. The dozens of celebrity cameos and great side characters really cement the realism of this satirical mockumentary.Andy Samberg brings his classic boyish charm and charisma to the main role, making a ridiculous character incredibly likeable in what might be the funniest performance of his career. The chemistry between the main characters is great, and if that's not enough for you, there's a tortoise, in crucial role that adds a lot of heart to the movie.If you're a fan of Andy Samberg, Brooklyn Nine-nine, the Lonely Island, Judd Apatow comedies, or are looking for a fresh comedy that will turn almost and bad day around, definitely check out this movie.

Absolutely love this film, saw it when it came out and had a blast and shown it to friends since, all of whom loved it too. Great music (the soundtrack is hilarious and includes full versions of all the songs in the film, including some bonus tracks), great cameos, love The Lonely Island guys, all round great film.The thing that made me drop a star was the fact there are no special features on the DVD. None whatsoever. Maybe my fault for assuming, but I bought the DVD excited to see some behind the scenes, making of, bloopers etc, but there's nothing. So I'm pretty disappointed. Maybe something to do with it being released on the 26th of December? I assume something went wrong somewhere because who intentionally misses the Christmas period by one day?That said, great film, couldn't recommend it more.
