How to germinate - More water
I had a dismal time with the first pack of seeds I received. Followed the directions, looked online, followed other guidelines and little success. First time which did not produce good results I used a small 1 quart sauce pan to boil a cup or two of water. Then let steep over night. Just ordered a new batch of seeds and decided to change the process. This time I used a 2 quart pot and filled the pot with water, brought it to a boil, removed from heat, added seeds and let steep overnight. This time a majority of the seeds had swollen in size. In my first attempt only a few seeds were swollen and those appear to be the ones that typically germinate. I believe the key to germination is how long the water stayed hot during the steep portion. The larger quantity of water kept the seeds hotter longer. I will let you know in a few weeks how this second process worked, but just from the appearance of the seeds it looks far more promising.Good luck!

Nothing germinated
I plant hundreds of seeds each year so, I can say I am an experienced seed planter. I tried everything with these seeds. Nothing worked. Two seeds looked like they will germinate after a week cold treatment but, soon after died... Probably very old and unhealthy seeds.

Have 1 come up out of 40 seeds
Folliwed directions and allotted time. Have 1 out of 40 come up. Will let them sit rest of summer just to see what happens

Great!
I had really great success with these! I followed the instructions on the packed to stratify the seeds and almost all of them that I started germinated. I have a lot saved for later! :)

Really beautiful
About 4 months since I planted seeds. Some I soaked in vinegar overnight. Some i soaked in water overnight. Some I left in the refrigerator for a month. Not sure which ones came up but I have 12 to 15 beautiful healthy saplings now. Very excited! Hope they survive this long hot dry summer!UpdateLast pic is about a year after planting. They survived a very hot summer and some hail damage. Came back strong this spring!
