This Strap Works!
This knee strap is the most effective brace I have used and it has kept me from having surgery for years. The strap is comfortable to wear and to put on and adjust. I have two straps and wear one every day, frequently washing them. I wash them on gentle cycle, although I think they would be fine in the regular wash. Based on my experience, I recommend this knee strap without reservation, it is Great!

Used for dance workouts, Pilates, and for workouts with lots of squats and lunges.
I normally don't write reviews but use them so thought I would in this case. Most of the reviews I've seen are written by runners and that is not what I use braces for. I use this brace for dancing workouts and for workouts with a lot of squats. I tore my medial meniscus about a year and a half ago. It did not require surgery but did take a while to heal and it is still not as strong as it was before the injury. While it was healing, I used a hinged brace but now I need extra support for the knee but did not want as bulky a brace and to be as limited in range of motion as the hinged one. This brace gives my knee the support I was looking for without limiting my movement. I had also developed quadriceps tendonitis (pain just above the knee cap) from all the squats and this is excellent for reducing the pain the tendonitis. My only negative comment is that it is not comfortable to me on bare skin but I almost always use a sleeve brace under braces any way. It does not slip during my workout but I do tighten it a good bit to take the pressure off the tendon. My knee was exactly 14 inches which the manufacturer recommends going down a size if right in the middle. This makes mine a small. I ordered the small and it would work but the Velcro closure only overlapped half way. I sent it back and exchanged for the medium which closes completely without significant overlap. I would recommend going up a size if your knee falls right in the middle of the sizes. This brace is excellent for its intended purpose but does not replace the support from a hinged brace for an acute injury. I am actually ordering another for my "good" knee since wearing this brace makes my injured knee stronger than the other and the extra support feels good.

Good intermediate support for knee
Bought this as a 2ndry support brace for my knee. I needed something less rigid as my knee heals. Somehow injured it & am dealing with mild arthritis in addition. I find if I need a little more support I put on an ace bandage first then this over it.. seems to work well. The Velcro does seem to catch in certain clothing & other items. Best worn with shorts as a result. Seems solidly constructed overall.

This Dual Action Knee Strap Makes Exercise Possible for Me!
I have been using this Cho-Pat Dual Action Knee strap for about 9 years or so. I just now replaced the one I first purchased 9 years ago because one, I lost weight; and two, the velcro finally wore down and no longer provided the compression I needed! In 2003, I had a hiking accident in the mountains - I lost my footing on a trail (after a heavy rain!) and my left knee came down on a flat rock. Needless to say, my knee swelled up like a softball and I couldn't walk for 3 months. Unfortunately, I would have some subsequent accidents (blunt force trauma) to that same knee, which led to the development of chondromalacia. Generally stated, this is the breakdown of cartilage, and I will just say it is very painful. After so much trauma, the cartilage in my left knee was in pieces, and basically ended up being close to being bone on bone. Any type of prolonged walking or exercise was too painful - but not with this dual action strap by Cho-Pat!!You couldn't keep me off the racquetball court, but my knee pain managed to do that. I just refused to give in. I found this product and use it when I practice kickboxing, play racquetball, go for extended walks or a run - I literally cannot exercise without it. If I do, I will have uncontrolled knee pain for days. There is something about the compression and alignment it provides that reduces the pain, and actually prevents further knee pain and inflammation. As I said, this product was a godsend for me, and when it came time to replace it, I kind of scoffed at the price. The thing is that I could "risk" it and order something else and end up with an inferior product and inferior durability. I KNOW firsthand what this product does, how it works, that it works for me and how long it can last. There was NO point in ordering from a different company, so I ordered in a medium (my previous one was an extra-large). It fits perfectly, and provides excellent compression and alignment for my left knee. I wish I had ordered a replacement sooner because my other one slipped a lot (the top part of the band) and the velco was worn out. I just didn't realize how important it was to have it work properly again. The new one doesn't slip at all, which probably means I always wore a size smaller than I was using. Now, I have lost 95lbs, and while the weight loss definitely helps with the pain, it is still there and always will be. However, the Cho-Pat knee strap makes exercise possible for me, and not just any exercise - kickboxing, weight lifting and racquetball!!

The only knee brace which helps me
Aside from playing football when I was young and getting my knees banked up, I injured both knees later in life running and walking on a cheap, treadmill with a belt which was too narrow for my defensive-tackle sized bod. I developed "Baker's Cysts" in both knees, an affliction wherein the pain is at the back of the knee. Aside from the ache and mild pain, it also makes your knees unstable...hard to walk up stairs without the lower portion of you leg slipping around. When it flares up, you have to stabilize and pull yourself up stairs using the handrail. In the case of Baker's Cyst, it's the back of the knee which gets screwed up. Not the same thing as bone-on-bone pain from loss of cartilage, but painful and annoying just the same. Your knees become unstable and wobble around, and the only thing that helps is a brace to hold it in place and generate some heat at the same time. Surgery is not recommended so all you can do is find a way to cope. Heat and bracing and gentle exercises seem to work best. Pills don't seem to help at all.So I tried all sorts of braces; tubular stretch types to strap-ons with hinges and fancy stuff, but none seem to do the trick. I saw this in an ad somewhere a couple years ago for this brace with a funny name and in desperation ordered one. Wow, It did the trick for me!. The pad at the back pushes the knee sack back into place and holds it there while the inflamation dies down, and generates a little soothing heat at the same time. Don't need to wear it all the time, only when walking or running or working out, and sometimes while working in the yard. I've worn out a couple of them so far and have just ordered 2 replacements. Carry one set in my suitcase in the event I develop a problem while on a trip. Came in hand a few times, too!If I have any complaints it would be the bulk plus I notice that if you don't by the right size and the straps are a bit short, the exposed Velcro will clog up with lint from your sweatpants. Can't really wear them under dress pants, but jeans and sweats are OK. Even when you wear shorts with these things on; no one seems to take notice. Athletic and medical braces are more commonplace these days.It the back of your knees hurt...try one of these: it really helps me with my little problem!!JonB

Dual Action knee strap provides support/stability
Since I'm not a medical professional, I will try not to make claims about the benefits of this knee strap beyond my subjective observations.Fit: The size chart appears accurate. My leg measured 15 inches per the instructions and the medium is a good fit.Function: Overuse and too much running aggravated an IT band injury, with consequent pain and instability in the knee joint. Wearing the brace provides some support and the knee is less wobbly. I can run farther and longer, though the IT band still flares up from time to time.Quality: I've been wearing this brace while running for about five weeks. The velcro is holding up well. The stitching on the brace itself is all intact and nothing is stretched or popped loose. I typically run 60 to 80 miles in a month, mostly at a slow pace of about 10 minutes/mile.Concerns: Some cursory web searching led me to believe that this brace was a made in the USA product. It is not. Mine arrived with a "Made in China" tag prominently displayed. The images available on Amazon (see attached) would seem to say that the parent company, Medi-Dyne, is located in Texas. In fact, the text in the image says "Manufactured by Medi-Dyne...Colleyville, Texas." Nothing else in the item description indicates its foreign origin. If this is important to you, please be aware that the brace is made in China.

This knee brace is awesome!
I am training for a marathon and have knee problems from some past leg injuries. I ordered this cho-pat knee brace along with some other knee straps and braces when I realized that my knees were not holding up to my training. I set out for a 13 mile run using the simple single knee straps that I had ordered in addition to this brace. I ran for 3.5 miles and one of my knees began to hurt but I tried to run through it. It got worse so I took the single knee strap off my other knee and positioned it above my knee cap to simulate the design of this dual action cho-pat brace and headed back to my house. I was surprised to find that my pained had reduced and I was able to run all the way back to my house, now at mile 8. I quickly exchanged the two knee straps for the cho-pat brace. My pain was even more greatly reduced by just putting the cho-pat brace on!!! I set back out and ran the rest of the 13 miles with only the reduced amount of pain. I have used this brace every run from that point on and now I have zero pain while I run in my most problematic knee. I ordered a second cho-pat for my other knee early on as well. My wife is also training for the marathon and I told her to try my "extra" knee brace. Now we own 4 between the two of us. I highly recommend this brace. However, this brace is designed for running and other sport activities. It is comfortable to wear as long as you are not sitting down because it has elastic webbing located behind the knee that "bunches up" if you try to wear it sitting down. I am amazed how well the brace stays in place during running. I never have to readjust it, even in my long runs.
