VIZIO M55-C2 55-Inch Class Ultra HD Full-Array LED Smart TV

As is usually the case in my reviews I plan to keep things as simple and clear as possible. I did a lot of research on LG, Sony and Samsung 60 inch televisions in the 1000.00 to 2000.00 dollar range. I also actually looked at the various and sundry sets at too many big box stores to effectively maintain my sanity with the mostly useless drivel, that spewed forth from far too many salespersons' mouths. Here on Amazon a whole lot of people have been far more technical than I like to be and there are some very astute and descent reviews on this product. My set was delivered on May the 24th and I am writing this review on the 15th of June after spending time getting to know and calibrate this beautiful television. It is totally worth the money I paid and I could not be happier with my purchase. The company that delivered the set, Pilot, was pretty worthless, which I in no way hold against Amazon. I had two tens and two fives to tip these guys 15 bucks apiece and when they said they knew nothing about helping me out with opening and then placing the t.v. I just smiled at them and kept my tip dough in my pocket. I have helped friends and family (ad nauseaum) to set up surround sound systems and televisions for too many years and it took no time to set the set up, around 20 minutes or less from opening to putting on the feet to placing it on the stand, it only weighs about 60 lbs. If you like myself are sick of the assanine corporate whores who mainly, due to copy protection issues can't give us simplicity buy this set! If you want just a scooch more future proofing look to the 2016 P and M series Vizio's, as they will do the HDR and Dolby Vision color update. I wanted a tuner for over the air stations as I cut the cable cord years ago and those televisions have to have an outboard tuner to receive over the air stations. My point is, Beta Max or VHS? Blu-ray or Red- ray? HDMI 1.0? 1.2? 2.0? 2.2? I think you see where I am going with this. I would buy this set and wail until at least 2018 to buy another set. If you have the money, 6000,00 to 12000.00 dollars, you can afford either LG or Panasonics OLED's which have the most beautiful pictures and features available as of this writing. If like me, you are a pauper, buy this television instead, or the 65 or 70 inch version of it. You will not need an upconverting blu-ray player, the 4k feed from Amazon and Netflix look absolutely amazing as does the upconverted 1080p signal from my blu-ray player. 480i looks like crap for the most part but any station showing 720p or1080i looks amazing on the over the air tuner which picked up more stations (77) after the channel scan. Another wonderful feature are the various picture settings you can dail in and store or adjust on fly. Considering the uneven standards of picture and aspect ratio options on terrestrial channels the fact that you can adjust as you're looking at the picture will make me forgo calibation by an ISF tech. If you're a gamer, buy this set, if you mourn the loss of plasma, buy this set, if you know the difference between an eyesight blasting display at the store and what pleases your eye asthetically,buy this set! As of this writing there are 2 4k blu-ray players and around 18 4k movies that you can purchase, another reason why I will wait until 2018 to possibly upgrade to OLED. I used the calibration settings from C-Net's David Katzemeyer (I think I misspelled his last name) and AVS Forum with minor adjustments here and there. Subjectivity is the norm in music and visual likes but you can dial in one hell of a picture with this set! It's big and beautiful, the speakers really surprised me with their clarity but lets face it, a soundbar or in my case a surround sound system really make for a true "home theater" experience. I may purchase a roku 4 as I love my roku 3, which is now in the bedroom if and when more things begin to be streamed in 4k, I will buy a 4k blu-ray player when they come down to $ 250 or less. For now this set is all you will need to watch the sparse offerings in 4k that are currently available, and they look damn good! When the corporate whores make up their minds and offer us one standard that works without having to constantly upgrade I will buy another set that does HDR-10 and Dolby Vision and whatever the hell else it is they come up with. When there are at least 500 movies in 4k not upconverted 2k to 4k I will upgrade. Until then this television and the Audioquest Dragonfly DAC are the 2 best electronic devices I have ever personally selected. I found them both on Amazon and I am an Amazonian forever. By the by Panasonic just began selling 8k cameras to the major studios, I hope this set will last at least 4 years cause I smell even more "format wars" b.s. in the years ahead. 8k or 4k? You get my drift.....

This review is for the 75 Inch model of this T.V (M75- C1). One thing I do not like is the cross reviews of each Vizio TV (different sizes/models etc, It is confusing. Not all models sizes have the same features and hardware, so be careful when reading reviews that do not relate to the model you wish to purchase. The first thing I want to address is the difference between an LED and a Plasma T.V. Plasma's were great and I just purchased this T.V to replace the Pioneer Plasma 50 Inch set we have had for eight years (which still works great). The viewing angle on these (L.E.D) are not the same as Plasma T.Vs, for best view its better to be straight on, if you are viewing from an acute angle, you are going to be disappointed, as the picture will not be view able to your liking. Before you buy such a major purchase you should always go to a local store (If Possible) and view them before purchase. (we checked out Costco). Also make sure you check out the viewing angles as well.I have brought several T.Vs through Amazon because of the price, free shipping (Prime) and Amazons return policy, but each time checked it at the store before my purchase. Ok now price, for the bang for your buck, you cannot go wrong with Vizio, compare this model with the name brands (Samsung, Sony Etc), and you will see it is hundreds even thousands less than these other models of the same size. Next the wireless and apps. Do you really buy a TV for streaming Netflix or Hulu etc? I certainly do not even consider this when buying a T.V. We have an HTPC (This is a Home Theater Personal Computer) hooked to ours and we stream everything we want through this. (More about Computer through this T.V later). I can tell you I have a Samsung Blu Ray player that is supposed to stream, it does not work very well either. Picture: OK, straight out of the box, you will not get the picture you were hoping for, you need to adjust the colors and back light etc. There are quite a few reviews in here that give you some settings to try or you can purchase a calibration disc. After playing with it for some time, I have got the picture I am happy with, but I also have different setting for Sports, Movies etc. Remember not all TV (satellite or Cable) broadcasts everything in HD including commercials, so sometimes it will not look great. Blu Ray: We put in Disney's Lion King as a sampler (after calibrating T.V) OMG just amazing, Blu Ray really is the only way to get the ultimate from your T.V, the picture is incredibly good and you will love it. Note here to novices, hooking up your new T. V with anything other than an HDMI Cable is a crime. You will not get a great picture without it. If you are using equipment that does not have HDMI (cable box, satellite receiver, DVD/ BD Player) then you need to upgrade them as well. Note about HDMI Cables, do not believe the hype about spending $50 on a cable will make the picture better. amazons basic will work just as well. Sound: Thin T.Vs right? Lots of Screen right? then the speakers (if the model your buying has them) are going to be tiny and you will not get the sound you want. Get yourself an amp and speakers, or a home theater set up, or if you don't want all that, research sound bars or consider one of the Bose surround sound boxes. Personal Computer: Running our Home Theater Personal Computer through this TV is incredible. Just imagine a 75 inch Monitor, crystal clear. We like to download 1080P Music videos and even they look amazing on the screen (again using HDMI). We have all our music on here too and we play back through our amp. Like all things electronic, you need to know what you are doing. If your not savvy with these products, then consult one of the tech services available, to get the most out of computer through your new TV. We run Windows 10 (has Apps and is stable) and I said earlier we use this rather than the apps and wireless that is available through the T.V. To sum up my purchase, for the price, you cannot beat the Vizio 75 Inch 4K. You can spend more, but you will get no better warranty with the other guys. This is my first Vizio product and so my review is subject to change, but after receiving it and watching for 2 days, we love our new TV. The reviews here are very variable and is it possible to get a lemon? Yes of course, other brands have them too. If you are worried about such a big purchase, then spend the extra on the warranty for peace of mind. My opinion is if it does not go out in a year, it will probably not and for that reason I seldom purchase extended warranties. I hope my review helps some of you with your decision. A lot of folks write very poor reviews or they are too technical and people do not always understand the terms. Remember these are peoples opinions not necessarily cold hard facts. We buy big ticket items from Amazon often, we do not own a truck and so buying at Costco etc is not really a cheap alternative, even if it is a 100 dollars cheaper their. I will add more to my review if we experience any issues, but for now we are happy to own this 75 inch TV. Oh the other plus here at Amazon, we got 12 months no interest with our Amazon card.

I was initially happy with this TV, great picture and an all around good experience. Less than 3 months after I got it, the backlight started to flicker randomly. A small tap to the side of the TV fixed this, but eventually it wouldn't go away. Vizio replaced this TV and all was well. I felt like Vizio had my back and the customer service was outstanding. Now fast forward 3 months and the TV randomly displays very little color, almost black and white regardless of input. This sometimes persists through a reset (unplugging and plugging back in which takes forever by the way). I contacted Vizio support and was immediately accused of the input being the problem and they insisted I send them photos of the problem. Which I attempted no less than 5 different times. They also wanted proof of purchase and I told them that they just replaced this TV 3 months ago but they insisted. I tried to email them that too, which also was bounced back to me by my ISP as undeliverable. Tried 2 other email accounts with no success. Finally I decided maybe public shaming would do the trick so I tweeted photos and an description of my problem and tagged Vizio. Surprise! They got the pictures finally, but insisted I fax them a copy of my POP since it had my name and address on it. Finally, the next call I felt like I was getting somewhere! The rep told me that they were indeed having problems with their email system! He also told me he had a copy of my POP from my call in about the first defective tv and told me they would be happy to replace my TV with the inferior and poorly rated D series instead! I told him this was unacceptable to replace a $1000 tv with a $600 one. He told me that he would get in touch with his supervisor and someone would call me the next day. I finally received my phone call and much to my disappointment they would NOT be replacing my TV with the newer M series. At this point I had had enough and was offered a refund which I accepted. He told me I had to have the TV ready to be picked up in the original package! I told him I saved it as I had little faith in the last replacement tv! He told me they will be here this week to pick it up, and then it would take several days to get to the warehouse, then up to a week for "inspection". After the tv was inspected and found to have no physical damage, they would issue a refund check. Which you guessed it, would take up to a week to be mailed. By the US Postal service, which is lightning fast as well. So according to Vizio, I'm expected to be without a tv for up to 3 weeks. I will make it my lifelong mission to see to it that nobody buys another Vizio TV again!

This is a great TV, without a doubt it was one of the best deals for a 65" 4kUHD TV. Before I purchased this model, the M65-C1, I purchased a Vizio M series 43" 4KUHD TV. I had a Vizio TV for almost 8 years before I replaced it with the new M series, I did not replace it because it broke I just felt it was time to upgrade and Vizio hadn't failed me yet. I was very happy with the Vizio M series 43" 4K TV and I decided it was also time to upgrade the TV in our bedroom to a 65" TV and Vizio still seemed like the best brand to go with for the price. I mounted the TV on a VideoSecu MW380B2 Full Motion Articulating Dual Arms TV Wall Mount and it looks great on the wall. The mount was for 16" stud's and mine are 25" spaced studs so MAKE SURE YOU VERIFY THIS BEFORE BUYING A TV MOUNT. I just made mounting studs for the wall mount out of 2x4's and used FastenMaster screws to mount the 2x4's with no problem because they do not require a pilot hole to be drilled, yes that are that awesome. Anyways on the the Pros and Cons The reason I gave this TV 4 star's is because the few cons MAJORLY outweigh the pro's but there is one really annoying con. Pro's: 1. The Spatial Scaling engine works wonder's on converting non full HD and Full HD to a much Higher Resolution. It does an even more amazing job of this when you upload a movie to a flash drive and plug it into the USB port on the TV. 2: When using the USB port to play movies from a flash drive not only does it play any video you can watch on Windows Media Player but it also play's MKV files that you would have to watch using VLC player or something similar. 3. The range of controls for setting the picture are quite extensive. You can use the preset color's and you can also customize them and save them for different movies. Using the Vivid setting made "Avatar" looking 100x better in the night time bioluminescent forest scenes. Using the Calibrated setting seem's to be great for pretty much any movie. There are multiple features to reduce Judder, Motion Blur and Game Low Latency which is a good setting for using the TV as a monitor for computer games because there is a slight amount of "Lag" or "Drag" and in an intense FPS shooter vs. other playes, like in CS:GO, .25 secs of mouse lag can make a major difference. 4. 5 HDMI inputs, do I need to really explain the awesome advantage this is? I think not. 5. The price. Come on, let's be real here. Not every one makes 6 figure's a year and the price can make or break a buy regardless of a few extra features for another $200+. I don't have a lot to go off in regard's to the quality of the picture on this Vizio vs. a comparable Samsung or LG but the picture in my opinion is amazing 90% of the time which is where we will go into the con's. Cons: Let's start out with the number 1 con which is the only con I have at this point but I will update at 3 and 6 months and again if I feel it is necessary. Currently this is the only reason I am not giving it 5 stars. 1: Noise, grain, static or whatever you call it I got it. I notice on certain TV shows and movies that there is what looks like light static going on in the background and it is REALLY VISIBLE in lighter colors and especially on white's. I have tried to look up what might be causing it or even what it is called but I have not really been able to find ANYTHING. The thing is that I only notice it when watching TV, I have Xfinity(Comcast) X1 cable. On my favorite show "The Walking Dead" is where I first noticed it. It is more visible on that show than any other show or movie but I still see it on other shows and movies. When I stream movies from netflix, my computer or from a flash drive I do not notice it.

Before I actually talk about the TV itself, I need to make an important point: I have been a long time consumer of Samsung products (tablets, phones, TVs, disc players, sound systems, headphones, etc.) The reason is they simply make high quality products; I've only ever bought one Samsung product that required service during, or after, the warranty period. It's not a matter of loyalty, but a matter of being determined to get good value for my money. However, Samsung is making the same mistake Sony made years ago when they were my go-to company for any kind of electronic gadgetry; they started pricing their products based more on name and popularity rather than quality in comparison to competitors. So when I decided it was time to upgrade my TV, I considered all brands (except Sony; I don't buy their products anymore). I looked at reviews, negative and positive, and inquired of friends I know who own other brands. What I heard about Vizio was all positive. So when Samsung sent me an email offering a 'fantastic deal' on a new TV, I was ready to jump on it...until I remembered this Vizio M65-C1 and compared. I got this 65" Vizio for a full $600 less than what Samsung was asking for a 60" model with essentially the same specs. I could hardly be happier! The TV was delivered on time and unpacked and I was offered to have it set up and turned on, but I had to refuse because my current TV stand wouldn't hold it because of where the TV's legs are attached (I'd bought a mount for it). Once I got it mounted and everything plugged in and turned on, I was immediately impressed, right out of the box. The initial setup asked if I wanted to use in-store mode or home mode (setting for TVs in stores are always set too bright because they are 'competing' against many others on the shelves). Anyway, without even making any adjustments whatsoever, the crispness, color, contrast, brightness, everything was just amazing. I happened to have had company come in right after I got it set up, and the first remark she made was, "Wow, that looks just like in the theater." My kids said the same thing, without being asked what they thought of the picture. Once I did tweak a few settings, it's even more impressive. The blacks are deep, the colors are very natural, motion (I watched several minutes of a college football game and the movie 'Jurassic World') is clean and clear with no blur at all. When my boys switched over to XBox, they were both amazed (and said so) at how realistic and rich their games looked. The picture is evenly lighted from edge to edge, and even the sound isn't too bad. Of course the sound can't match the sound from a surround system, but it's not at all unsatisfactory. It has plenty of connections, though I would rather they had been centered rather than way off to the right (as you look at the TV from the rear), but that just means I need to buy a couple of longer HDMI cables. My Samsung TV, which this replaced, was a plasma, so it's good to be able to get away from the glare of that to a matte screen. The TV does a great job of up-scaling content to 4K. I haven't yet tried any true 4K content, but if it looks even better that this, it'll be hard not to try to step into the screen, especially if I happen to see a certain actress on whom I have something of a crush! :) Seriously, though, I don't think you'll be dissatisfied with this TV unless you are VERY particular and have a VERY discerning eye. I admit I was a little uncertain about stepping away from Samsung, but I'm in no way disappointed, and that's not a knock on Samsung's quality, just a compliment to Vizio's value; and that's without even having the TV professionally calibrated. This review is being posted on November 27, 2015. I mention that, because the only thing I'm not sure about is performance and functionality over time. I will update this review if I have any problems going forward, but if I DON'T update it, it will be because I remain 95-100% satisfied.

I'm not sure how Amazon relates reviews to products . Many of the reviews here have no relationship to my TV , the 70in 4kM model 240hz ultra hd LED TV . Reviews vary from 40 in 42in 50 in 120 hs , non 4k TV . Careful what you read . Another caveat . Several reviews describe using this TVas a monitor for their computer or for gaming . I bought this for a home entertainment center. I suspect most others are looking for the same . So my review is for the M70 4k ultra hd smart LED hdtv 240 hs. For my stated purpose. If you want this for home entertainment my review is for you . The picture is beyond expectations . Crisp , no blur , no judder or sputter . You can watch formula.1 racing or Jason Spieths fastest swing with no blur . The picture needs tweaking . This takes less than 5 min.. Flesh tones are spot on . Set up is simple . The stands are good and hold this monster stable . Viewing from any angle is great to awesome. No bad . The picture is far better than any movie theatre .in any mode , 4k or not , the picture is clear ,crisp and as I said awesome . The 4k from Netflex rivals Ansel Adams for clarity and detail . Nature documentaries put you in the scene. Though not 3d it feels like it . The depth of colors is natures own . No one wishing a home theatre would expect the sound from ANY TV screen to be adequate. I have 7 speakers , a great receiver , a giant twin speaker ( heavy ) woofer from THX . Two rear speakers are imbedded in the ceiling . You are NOT buying this TV to be a sound system . You are buying a truly superb picture . It's senseless to comment on the sound quality. Quality sound is impossible in any flat screen. So , expect to spend whatever your budget can stand for sound . So how do I rate this TV . I wish I could give 10 stars . You cannot do better for picture quality. I recommend a good audio sound specialist or a name brand system . Don't forget your theater chairs , popcorn machine , etc.. I could add tech talk . But , why! Enjoy . My puppy loves the picture. One additional important point . Using Amazon prime the set arrived when promised . Two very nice men unboxed , set the screen on the stands , plugged it in and waited to be sure there was no damage or grey screen . Making sure we were pleased they then carried away the debris.

After hours pouring over reviews both from folks like myself and the limited reviews in publication, I made the decision to purchase the Vizio. (With my wife's somewhat less than enthusiastic permission) I was replacing a fantastic plasma Panasonic 45 inch. The Panasonic got a New home in the guest room, also mounted on the wall. So yes, I wanted a bigger screen, and 4k, and let me tell you 70 inch is a bigger screen. Who needs a 70 inch, the question is asked, well until you have one, it's hard to describe the difference. I have also read there is no 4k programming, but that is not as important as you might think, as one of the features is up scaling 1080 content to the best picture you can imagine. The picture can be adjusted from a simple and very direct menu to as detailed as one can imagine, an engineering degree and color calibration technology would be appropriate. But again it's not necessary, I mention it so the techies out there who want to get that deep, you can futz to your hearts content. To say the picture is flat out amazing is an understatement. From edge to edge bright focus and sharp. One of the features that is transparent to the user but is so cool and only available from other manufactures on higher priced systems, is the local diming. There is an array of illumination that automatically, based on the image, gets lighter and darker to provide the best contrast and brightness possible. I am using 3 of the 5 HDMI inputs, my older Xbox, Blue Ray DVD, and the cable box. The Blue Ray looks more 3 D than 3D does. It's is crystal sharp and the image is much better than movie theatre quality. The impact of digital images from the old xbox are hard to explain, as the up scaling makes the images pop like I have never seen them, and playing these old games is a new experience. I bought an articulating mount which I will review separately. But it matches the TV perfectly. I can aim the set easily and angle it down to get rid of any reflection. The sound on the TV is decent, but I have it hooked up to an old sound bar, maybe the next up grade but for now the bar provides output for all the inputs. I am slightly deaf ( my wife would argue with the "slightly" ) but there is a connection for my wireless head phones. This is a Smart tv, so either wired or wireless, you have access to very, very full range of third party sources. Netflix is our favorite, and they actually have 4 k programming, I have not accessed it yet, but the images from Netflix on this set are stunning. The set also automatically upgrades firmware when needed. As I said I have this mounted on the wall, and had the set professionally installed, a worthy investment. But I can tell you this, the guys that installed the set said it was the first Visio they had seen and they were blown away by the picture out of the box. Delivery from Amazon is another feature I am going to mention. They call it enhanced delivery, the set was scheduled to arrive in the am. They pulled the set out of the box set it up and turned it on, had there been any issue they would have instantly turned it around and shipped it back. They took the boxes away too. They remarked in comparison to other manufactures the packing was much more substantial and protective. Well you can see the price, and Visio is upsetting the apple cart on this one. Disruptive pricing, at just $2000 for 70 inches, compare that to the others, and it's not even close. When you have the programming that is in high quality, even commercials, the difference between other 4k sets would be difficult to see. For the money this is one that will be hard to beat. I will update in a month or two. But each time I look up and see this amazing image, and size, lol I say wow. He who dies with the most toys wins. What a great toy. My two cents.

You get what you pay for. If you've owned a TV from Samsung, Sony, Sharp etc, you will immediately notice how cheap these Vizio's feel in the quality of their construction and materials. There's no comparison, but for the price difference this shouldn't surprise anyone. Right out of the box the picture needs to be tweaked to your liking and ambient lighting conditions. Once done this TV is capable of producing a fantastic picture. Upscaling of 1080 looks fantastic, 720 pretty good, anything lower and it's pretty bad but not worse than other manufacturers. If you only view over the air broadcasting be prepared for the channel info box at the top of the screen to repeatedly and annoyingly display itself at even the slightest wavering in signal strength, even dips in signal strength that are not perceptible to the eye. I really hope there will be a firmware fix for this in the future. The top side of the remote has no backlighting which makes it a real pain to use until you have the button placement memorized. The back side of the remote, with the keyboard does have backlighting, but this keyboard is mostly useless because the TV does not have a browser. Two of the three app quick-launch buttons at the top are useless as Amazon and Hulu do not work on this TV (read below for more about this.) My biggest complaint with this TV: Amazon has disabled the Amazon Instant Video app for this model yet they continue to use a product image which depicts Amazon Instant Video and there is no mention of this in the product description. I understand that they want to sell more Firesticks and Fire TV's, but it's really a terrible way to do business. As an Amazon Prime customer who regularly uses Amazon Instant Video for both free and paid content, I am very disappointed about this as it was certainly part of the reason for purchasing this TV. Lastly - Using "Smart Interactivity" Vizio is spying on your viewing habits, including your IP address and any devices you use on your home network and selling this "enhanced data" to advertisers. You must manually turn this off by going to Menu > System > Reset & Admin > Smart Interactivity and set this to off.

This is a great TV for its price. The unit is easy to setup and the apps are useful although mostly designed for the US. If you have a VPN setup, though, you can access services like Ultraflix and Amazon video. The image quality is amazing. The upscaling from DVD at 1080 resolution is superb. The broadcast from OTA HD signal is really good too. Netflix looks awesome at regular HD quality. I'm not sure if I'll upgrade to 4K in Netflix, as I'm concerned about the data usage going above my quota for Internet. But I'm happy that I'm ready for 4K content as it becomes more ubiquitous. The sound is pretty good for the size. It helps if you customise the settings to improve it. Same with the picture quality. It pays off to spend time to adjust the settings for every input and to match your tv location and lighting. Update 09/2021: So just wanted to update this review for the record; the TV screen died a few days ago after over 5 1/2 years of consistent use. The sound still works but it does not appear to have any image, even when a flashlight is shined upon it in the dark. I'm debating if it's worth taking it to a technician or not. Hate to be wasteful and chucking things that still can be useful. No complaints, though. I guess about 6 years of use is what you get nowadays for a piece of electronics.

Je suis passé d'une excellente samsung 55 pouces 1080p à ce modèle Vizio 4k après de nombreuses recherches et lectures des "reviews" dont CNET ainsi que les commentaires d'acheteurs/utilisateurs. Pour un salon normal (assis de 12 à 15 pieds de la télé), la 65 pouces est à la limite de l'acceptable. À mon point de vue, plus gros que ça, c'est trop. J'utilise la télé principalement comme moniteur d'ordi (j'attends une carte Asus 2g ddr5 pour être capable d'atteindre la résolution 2160p). J'utilise l'ordi comme un htpc (home theater personal computer). L'écran comme tel est très satisfaisant mais nécessite (tel qu'indiqué dans plusieurs commentaires) pas mal d'ajustements pour atteindre le résultat souhaité. Heureusement, le menu est simple et permet facilement de modifier les paramètres. Évidemment, on peut redouter la qualité pour une marque un peu inconnue (enfin pour moi) tel que Vizio (ce n'est pas Samsung ou Sony ou LG, etc). Mais finalement, je suis très très content du rapport qualité prix. Question son, la télé procure un son correct et honnête mais ce n'était pas une priorité pour moi, diffusant le son sur un système Yamaha 7.1. Great picture quality, asthetically pleasing, great remote!! Fast OS and nice features. Picture scaling doesn't seem to work, but most of our media is in 16:9 format now a days so it really doesn't matter. Only problem we have, and the reason I had to dock a star, is the audio quality. Overall it's good, but voices are SO quiet. We ordered a sound bar and are waiting for it now. Many reviews said the same thing and it's true... for the price this is a great TV though, I would reccomend it

Really met my expectations. For the price the quality of this flat TV is awesome. Unfortunately there is not a lot of 4K content coming from my cable provider so there is not a big difference in quality image from my 4 year old HD TV. Blu ray movies look awesome and the smart functions are basic but I just use Netflix anyways, so that's fine for me. The quality of sound may be one of the weakest elements in this TV. I haven't been able to find a decent configuration for volume as the level/quality changes by source (Netflix sound is really good though). Overall, I highly recommend this TV, in special for people that look decent quality without being too obsessed by smart functions that most of the times are useless.

EDITED FOR M43-C1 - 3 bad units in a row. all had panels filled with clusters of dead pixels. One unit (the third and last) came with a used controller. literally used. with worn keys and finger juice: My M70-C3 is fantastic, but these 3 bad M43-C1 mean I cannot recommend this series of TVs at all. I must have lucked out with my M70 because this many faulty units in a row is a joke. --- I have since purchased and tested the M43-C1. I am currently on the first replacement device and am awaiting the second replacement. So far, both TVs I have received have had literally dozens of dead pixels and diffusion layer artefacts and manufacturing defects. My M70-C3 is utterly perfect as noted below, whereas this M43-C1 so far has been an incredible disappointment in terms of build quality/quality control. I am lowering my rating to 3/5 stars for now, and will edit this review once more when my second replacement M43-C1 arrives. I am willing to beleive these two bad M43-C1 models were bad luck. But if the third arrives defective as well, I can no longer recommend this entire series of TV's from Vizio. My superb M70-C3 notwithstanding, 2 out of 3 TVs being defective can be bad luck, but if the third is bad, that will mean 3 out of 4 M series TV's I have received will have been defective (I will no longer exchange the M43-C1 after that point and will return it. ---- Now, onto my original M70-C3 review: ---- This TV is basically perfect. (M70-C3) I have a long history of home theatre product experience. I am extremely picky with my equipment, especially when it comes to black levels on my TVs The full array dimming present on the M and P series TVs from Vizio create black levels that are only surpassed by OLED TVs. The M70-C3 produces literally perfect black. absent of any light. In a pitch black viewing environment, titles float in a total void of black, letterboxes are utterly black. Without good black levels, a TV cannot produce high quality colours or dynamic range whatsoever. Not only is this TV capable of utterly inky, perfect blacks, but also sublime, rich, accurate colour and bright, clean whites. Additionally, the OS on the TV is robust, responsive, intelligently laid out and fast, allowing calibrated settings to be saved and named, inputs to be labelled, and changes quickly accessed afterwards. The interpolation feature on this TV is also extremely impressive. Motion interpolation is only useful for very specific cases (it is great when used on CGI (Pixar etc) or traditionally animated (Disney/Studio Ghibli) films. Motion interpolation features are generally poorly implemented on most TVs. dropping frames,inconsistently performing... This is generally because the image processors in these other sets are not powerful enough to actually perform this function. This is not the case on the Vizio M series. The fact that the motion interpolation feature works so perfectly means you'll be happy to use it in the rare case it is beneficial (as noted above) Calibration features are deep and robust, additional image quality features are sublime, such as backlight strobing (Clear action) for a more film accurate look, True 23.976 frame rate works perfectly, Game mode is fantastic, and even with game mode off, the input delay is very low. With game mode on, it is close to that of a monitor. For those who use built in speakers, the included speakers are fine (although one should basically never use built in speakers) Importantly, 4K up-scaling of 1080p content is absolutely remarkable. It breathes entirely new life into all your content and you may even not need to consider getting a 4K receiver or any 4K content for a long time once you see how well it up-scales 1080p content. It is literally that good. I have performed thorough testing of identical movies in both 4K and 1080P, allowing the TV to upscale the 1080P content, and watching the native 4K content, and the TV does such a good up-scaling job it is basically not worth going further than that. The remote is great, with a qwerty keyboard on the rear, and fast, smartly laid out controls on the face for access to quick functions (Saved calibrations being the main use, switching to my Film Dark, Film Bright, Animation, and Gaming settings is a snap) CEC works reliably although that feature in general is unreliable, so I wouldn't worry about it too much Literally the ONLY Con of this set is the feet. The set features sturdy, aluminium feet which attach to the set at the far corners, giving the TV a very wide footprint. I had to purchase an entirely new TV table for my home theater to accommodate these feet. It is a pain, but not the end of the world. Just make sure you carefully pre-measure the TV footprint and your theater before ordering. I absolutely recommend this set to everyone. The value is almost irrelevant. it is basically a perfect television with image quality that is unmatched by anything other than OLED sets.
